RiverClan Medicine Cat's Den

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Fadedpaw walked in, shivering, "Hello? Anybody in here?" She meowed quietly, waiting for a response as she licked her fur. Where is Geckoleaf? Maybe I should just go to sleep... That might help me better than standing here waiting for the medicine cat. She shook her head, Melodysong told me to go to the medicine cat, so I suppose I'll just wait here.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
A new apprentice walked in, formerley a loner/rouge, with a scar over her shoulder.
"Hey are you looking for the medicine cat?" Sharppaw asked quietly "I don't know where the medicine cat could be... probably out getting herbs, I would suppose..." the apprentice was shy but was brave for only having just become an apprentice. |
Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Waking up from a light sleep, Geckoleaf tentatively parted her eyelids, to the jarring brightness of noon. Letting out a soft sigh, the molly shook the drowsiness from her limbs, and moved upwards in a single fluid motion, to a crouch stance. Putting her front paws a short distance in front of her, Geckoleaf relaxed her shoulders downward, her spine popping with the gentle stretch. Repeating the same for her hips, her body felt instantly more limber, the stiffness of inactivity relieved from her joints. Moving towards her herb stock, she gave it a quick survey, mentally counting the remaining plants. A slight frown tilted the edges of her lips downwards; she was running incredibly low on many vital ingredients, most of which had shriveled up with the coming of colder winter weather. Geckoleaf let out a low, gravelly sigh, her tail twitching with displeasure; she was to be forced to ask Bucknight to send additional patrols into the territory to collect herbs. It was almost preferable to spend extra hours in the territory. Geckoleaf didn't like Bucknight, but this wasn't common knowledge. Despite her distaste for his.. Methods, she had learned to respect power for what it was. It was quite remarkable, she admitted, that he was able to retain control over the four clans, albeit with the help of the other leaders, who she thought were his cronies, due to the same leader suffixes, and shared sudden rise to power.
Returning her mind to her work, Geckoleaf counted up what she needed. Comfrey, thyme, catmint, ginger.. It was like a song, she thought; the words were light and airy, and formed stanzas and verses without thought. Grabbing a few large, waxy-green beech leaves, she began her trek out to the territory. |
Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Cucumberpickle had managed to make it to the medicine cat den, he yowled," Please help this Riverclan apprentice( Walnutpaw) someone rgored out her eye, her brother and tore up her stomach, she's unconscious!" He set her down before bounding into battle

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Mounatainclaw dragged foxtail into the medicine den. He dropped her next no the eyeless,unconsious apprentice and ran over to geckoleaf." Please help her. She has a large gash in her underbelly!"he begged."i trust you to take care of her while i find the cat that did this to her". Afterwards,he ran out of the med cat den and back into battle.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Raising an eyebrow in slight confusion, and surprise, Geckoleaf hurried to care for the severely wounded apprentice. She shivered at the sight of the wounds; they were severe, especially for a young apprentice who should never have been in battle in the first place. But, the damage was done; all she could do was care for the cat. Moving swiftly to her herb shelf, she grabbed one of the packets of herbs she kept prepared, in case of general injury. Unwrapping the herbs from their leafy container, she set it down next to Walnutpaw. Quickly, she cleaned out the wounds, her rough tongue scraping away debris and bits of detached flesh. The eye wound was worse, but manageable. After being satisfied with their cleanliness, she grabbed the mix of pre-prepared medicine and chewed it into a thick poultice, which she then applied with practiced motions. Once the poultice was on, she applied cobwebs on top of both, to keep the medicine in place, which she secured with the burrs of catchweed. Tail twitching, she shifted from paw to paw; she had done her best, and she could do no more. The apprentice would heal with time, but be forever blinded in one eye. Though sad, it was reality, a reality she could only help, not fix.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Two small eyes appeared in the hole that separated the clearing from the den that held many injured cats. The small blue eyes disappeared for a second, only to reapear, with fear and almost sadness replacing the curiosity that had filled it only moments ago. The small form of a bright white kit burst through the bramble shield; his runt-like body quivering with abhorrence. Arctickit shook himself, his bright blue eyes even more aghast as they set sight on the two apprentices; he didn't flinch though, but his gray-brown and white tail concluded. He padded over to Geckoleaf, his eyes holding wisdom far past his moons; the flurry of emotions that had surged through the tom-kit seemed like a distant memory, long forgotten in the thoughts that were rushing through Arctickit's mind. The blood that gushed out of the apprentices didn't make Arctickit as naucious at his first glance. "Do you need help?" Arctickit asked the working medicine cat, his tone eager and somewhat frightened. "I feel useless and scared in the nursery," Arctickit's mother, Snowyfur was out in the chaos that was unfolding in the clearing; fighting for StarClan and the rights that they served. The kit was too small and young to be out with the fighting cats, and being without many queens in the nursery jolted Arctickit into going into the medicine den, which had many, wonderful scents that entranced the kit's mind.

Walnutpaw groaned and mumbled," Tigerpaw's dead. He saved me.. Skyclan's warrior saved me." She fell asleep, she was fully concipis, but asleep.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Glancing at the apprentice when she stirred, to assure she was comfortable. Tail swishing, she adjusted her gaze to the kit in the entrance. A small smile crossed her muzzle; it was unusual for a kit to visit her, and much rarer to one to offer her help. Taking a smooth step towards him, she replied to his inquiry with; "Yes, I could actually. At the base of my herb shelves are packs of medicine covered in beech leaves. While I clean out Foxtail's wounds, will you get me one?" She watched the kit for a moment more, her clear sapphire eyes calm and amused. But, she quickly turned serious, and set back to the gruesome work of cleaning out the deep gash on the feline chest. Working quickly, she cleaned it out so that any remaining bits of filth. She also cleaned the dried an oozing blood out from the fur, working out all of the dirt caked into it. Having finished cleaning it, she turned towards Arctickit, ready to recieve the herb packet.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Nodding quietly towards Geckoleaf, Arctickit rushed towards the stock of herbs that littered the shelves of the den. He nosed through a few piles of leaves before finally deciding on a pile of large foliage; Arctickit wasn't familiar with the terms that Geckoleaf used. The beech leaves hung from his jaws, scents of herbs permeating from the folds of the leaves. Arctickit skidded over to the medicine cat, his eyes flickering with curiosity as he set the leaves down before Geckoleaf, his eyes floating over the wounds of the warrior, a slight shuttered struck him; he was a little squeamish towards the sight of the gore, though tried not to notice it as he asked; "What else do you need me to?" his voice was his normal, high-pitched squeak, his ears flicking, gesturing to Foxtail.

@Cloudy
"Nothing, darling. Your help is much appreciated. If you really wanted to, you could get some prey for the patients,"she mewed softly, before taking the packet from the young tom. Taking the herbs, Geckoleaf unwrapped it quickly, and chewed it into a thick paste, which she applied with sharp, deft movements to the shallow stomach wound. Making sure her patient was still unconscious, so that her work would remain unhampered, she then reached towards her side, where a pile of cobwebs and catchweed lay, discarded in her haste to clean the wounds. Grabbing a wad of the white bandaging material, she packed it into the wound, to staunch leftover bleeding, and hold in the poultice. The feline then applied a top layer of cobweb, just to keep the wadding in place. To secure the bandaging, she used the small burrs, which were painless but effective. Geckoleaf then moved a step away from Foxtail, to survey her work. Realizing it was too loose, and the bandaging would easily slide from off its place, she secured it further, just as a fail safe. |
Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
(sorry for the double post! this is for a roleplay with frisk-)
After assuring that her patients were all treated, and resting comfortably, Geckoleaf trotted towards the back of her den, a pile of herbs sitting scattered on the floor after her frantic flurry to prepare for the influx of patients after the battle to regain RiverClan's freedom. Surveying the mess, she let out a soft sigh; there was work to be done, and much of it. Sitting down, she began to sort the plants, mindlessly. Fennel, burdock, daisy, ginger. On and on this went. Time passed, and she felt nothing. After spending hours doing this, she had learned how to ignore reality and retreat into her own mind. But this time, something strange happened. She felt her body tighten up, the muscles in her back and legs contracting, and she involuntarily adopted a rigid stance. Her mind felt tugged, and she realize what the sensation was; she was being pulled into a dream by StarClan. Instantly, Geckoleaf relaxed. She knew that they had something to tell her, but what she could not guess. Soon, she was enveloped in a trance-like dream. Images flashed rapidly before her, and then their speed slowed. She saw things; the color red, a deep russet, with dark swirling patterns traced across it. A pair of yellow eyes, deep and luminous. And then, she saw a cat; she recognized who it was. Russetswirl, whom she had met only in passing. He was standing on the highrock, with a proud look on his face. And then, it morphed and shifted again. She saw an ancient-looking tom, who she had no idea of his name. He seemed to move towards her, smoothly, and she heard him say; "Restore the ranks. Your clan must be lead." At the end of his sentence, the she-cat awoke again, where she had been before, her paw raised as if to sort herbs. Geckoleaf knew what she had to do. She had to make Russetswirl the leader. |
Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den
Large gray eyes peered into Geckoleaf's den, soon to be followed by a large, black body. Cougarstorm was just barely able to configure his large form into his love's den; though it was difficult, the large warrior manage to squirm his way in. The silver tail tip of Cougarstorm twitched impatiently as he pondered across the den with his eyes, searching for Geckoleaf. "Geckoleaf," Cougarstorm called quietly, waiting for the she-cat to appear, "I need to talk to you..."

Tears began to stream from her eyes, emotion and shock overwhelming her self control. They pooling in her her sapphire blue orbs, and she blinked hard to keep seeing straight. Gratefully, the den was devoid of any other souls, and her outburst and relationship would not be discovered. Turning tail, Geckokeaf fled to a hidden corner in the back of the den, a mossy spot protected by vines where she kept the most dangerous herbs. It easily hid her small form, and only there did she allow herself to let loose, rough and ungainly sobs wracking her body, soft sobs escaping her mouth, and more tears dripping from her eyes. How had she allowed herself to slip, and make such a mistake? It was obvious, in retrospect; she should've instead told him that it just wasn't the time, and she just wasn't yet ready for kits. Then, none of this mess would've happened. Maybe Cougarstorm would've been disappointed, but she knew he would've understood. But not this, never this. It was her fault, and what she'd said would always be inexcusable. |

Healing... The thought poured into his mind; Arctickit thought nothing of abnormality of the thought. He placed it in the beech leaf designated for the healing leaves. Arctickit placed his paw on another leaf; Traveling this time it was much faster as it flooded his mind. Again, he placed the herb onto the small pile, and quickly did the process over and over again, until the pile was empty. Arctickit looked up at Geckoleaf, his eyes wondering how he had done, expecting to be corrected, though everything was right. (His first connection to plants! ;3) |

Arctickit shuffled his paws off of the petal, only to mutter, "Chamomile..." in a very mesmerized voice. As Arctickit got to his paws with hesitation, a small, blooming fern blossomed where his foresaw had been. It was faster than imaginable, shifting and growing into a beautiful plant. Stumbling back a few steps to almost glare at the fern. "Chamomile!" he shouted over the blood pounding in his ears. |

But she soon saw his panicked expression, and she moved forward to comfort him, as a mother might. It was irrational and maternal; she saw a kit in distress and moved forward to comfort him. She gently nuzzled him on the head, her nose slightly parting the downy white kitten fur. "Hey.. I know it's a lot, but your okay, kitten. Your fine," she purred, in a gentle tone she hoped was comforting. She gave his fur a soft lick, and then turned her gaze towards the bit of green sprouted in front of Arctickit. Her tail swished around the kit, and she nipped the plant at its base, hoping it would cease the growing. |

@Lilly
Geckoleaf padded slowly into her den, the feeling of warmth enveloping her comfortably. She let out a sigh of relief, feeling content and relaxed in the pleasing familiarity of her workspace. The musty scent of herbs carried on the gentle draft that whispered through the den, the sweet and pungent aroma filling her nose and relaxing her. She smiled in joy, tail flicking lightly. After the stress of having a horrific attack in the territory, losing Arcticpaw, and now gaining Cricketpaw, the feeling of ease and peace that the space provided her was refreshing. Her surroundings seemed quiet and close, and she hoped that, with time, her apprentice would come to feel similarly. Swiveling her head around, she looked back at the entrance, coated with heavy vines and thick, hanging moss, waiting for the bengal to enter. Exhausted from their journey, however, she staggered to her nest and sank down, the moss inviting and warm. Geckoleaf would naturally rise again once Cricketpaw had entered, but for now, the promise of sleep that it offered seemed much too tempting a deal. |
