Fadedpaw walked in, shivering, "Hello? Anybody in here?" She meowed quietly, waiting for a response as she licked her fur. Where is Geckoleaf? Maybe I should just go to sleep... That might help me better than standing here waiting for the medicine cat. She shook her head, Melodysong told me to go to the medicine cat, so I suppose I'll just wait here.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den

A new apprentice walked in, formerley a loner/rouge, with a scar over her shoulder.
"Hey are you looking for the medicine cat?" Sharppaw asked quietly "I don't know where the medicine cat could be... probably out getting herbs, I would suppose..." the apprentice was shy but was brave for only having just become an apprentice.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den

Waking up from a light sleep, Geckoleaf tentatively parted her eyelids, to the jarring brightness of noon. Letting out a soft sigh, the molly shook the drowsiness from her limbs, and moved upwards in a single fluid motion, to a crouch stance. Putting her front paws a short distance in front of her, Geckoleaf relaxed her shoulders downward, her spine popping with the gentle stretch. Repeating the same for her hips, her body felt instantly more limber, the stiffness of inactivity relieved from her joints. Moving towards her herb stock, she gave it a quick survey, mentally counting the remaining plants. A slight frown tilted the edges of her lips downwards; she was running incredibly low on many vital ingredients, most of which had shriveled up with the coming of colder winter weather. Geckoleaf let out a low, gravelly sigh, her tail twitching with displeasure; she was to be forced to ask Bucknight to send additional patrols into the territory to collect herbs. It was almost preferable to spend extra hours in the territory. Geckoleaf didn't like Bucknight, but this wasn't common knowledge. Despite her distaste for his.. Methods, she had learned to respect power for what it was. It was quite remarkable, she admitted, that he was able to retain control over the four clans, albeit with the help of the other leaders, who she thought were his cronies, due to the same leader suffixes, and shared sudden rise to power.
Returning her mind to her work, Geckoleaf counted up what she needed. Comfrey, thyme, catmint, ginger.. It was like a song, she thought; the words were light and airy, and formed stanzas and verses without thought. Grabbing a few large, waxy-green beech leaves, she began her trek out to the territory.

Cucumberpickle had managed to make it to the medicine cat den, he yowled," Please help this Riverclan apprentice( Walnutpaw) someone rgored out her eye, her brother and tore up her stomach, she's unconscious!" He set her down before bounding into battle

She has a large gash in her underbelly!"he begged."i trust you to take care of her while i find the cat that did this to her". Afterwards,he ran out of the med cat den and back into battle.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den

Raising an eyebrow in slight confusion, and surprise, Geckoleaf hurried to care for the severely wounded apprentice. She shivered at the sight of the wounds; they were severe, especially for a young apprentice who should never have been in battle in the first place. But, the damage was done; all she could do was care for the cat. Moving swiftly to her herb shelf, she grabbed one of the packets of herbs she kept prepared, in case of general injury. Unwrapping the herbs from their leafy container, she set it down next to Walnutpaw. Quickly, she cleaned out the wounds, her rough tongue scraping away debris and bits of detached flesh. The eye wound was worse, but manageable. After being satisfied with their cleanliness, she grabbed the mix of pre-prepared medicine and chewed it into a thick poultice, which she then applied with practiced motions. Once the poultice was on, she applied cobwebs on top of both, to keep the medicine in place, which she secured with the burrs of catchweed. Tail twitching, she shifted from paw to paw; she had done her best, and she could do no more. The apprentice would heal with time, but be forever blinded in one eye. Though sad, it was reality, a reality she could only help, not fix.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den

Two small eyes appeared in the hole that separated the clearing from the den that held many injured cats. The small blue eyes disappeared for a second, only to reapear, with fear and almost sadness replacing the curiosity that had filled it only moments ago. The small form of a bright white kit burst through the bramble shield; his runt-like body quivering with abhorrence. Arctickit shook himself, his bright blue eyes even more aghast as they set sight on the two apprentices; he didn't flinch though, but his gray-brown and white tail concluded. He padded over to Geckoleaf, his eyes holding wisdom far past his moons; the flurry of emotions that had surged through the tom-kit seemed like a distant memory, long forgotten in the thoughts that were rushing through Arctickit's mind. The blood that gushed out of the apprentices didn't make Arctickit as naucious at his first glance. "Do you need help?" Arctickit asked the working medicine cat, his tone eager and somewhat frightened. "I feel useless and scared in the nursery," Arctickit's mother, Snowyfur was out in the chaos that was unfolding in the clearing; fighting for StarClan and the rights that they served. The kit was too small and young to be out with the fighting cats, and being without many queens in the nursery jolted Arctickit into going into the medicine den, which had many, wonderful scents that entranced the kit's mind.

Walnutpaw groaned and mumbled," Tigerpaw's dead. He saved me.. Skyclan's warrior saved me." She fell asleep, she was fully concipis, but asleep.

Glancing at the apprentice when she stirred, to assure she was comfortable. Tail swishing, she adjusted her gaze to the kit in the entrance. A small smile crossed her muzzle; it was unusual for a kit to visit her, and much rarer to one to offer her help. Taking a smooth step towards him, she replied to his inquiry with; "Yes, I could actually. At the base of my herb shelves are packs of medicine covered in beech leaves. While I clean out Foxtail's wounds, will you get me one?" She watched the kit for a moment more, her clear sapphire eyes calm and amused. But, she quickly turned serious, and set back to the gruesome work of cleaning out the deep gash on the feline chest. Working quickly, she cleaned it out so that any remaining bits of filth. She also cleaned the dried an oozing blood out from the fur, working out all of the dirt caked into it. Having finished cleaning it, she turned towards Arctickit, ready to recieve the herb packet.

Re: RiverClan Medicine's Cat Den

Nodding quietly towards Geckoleaf, Arctickit rushed towards the stock of herbs that littered the shelves of the den. He nosed through a few piles of leaves before finally deciding on a pile of large foliage; Arctickit wasn't familiar with the terms that Geckoleaf used. The beech leaves hung from his jaws, scents of herbs permeating from the folds of the leaves. Arctickit skidded over to the medicine cat, his eyes flickering with curiosity as he set the leaves down before Geckoleaf, his eyes floating over the wounds of the warrior, a slight shuttered struck him; he was a little squeamish towards the sight of the gore, though tried not to notice it as he asked; "What else do you need me to?" his voice was his normal, high-pitched squeak, his ears flicking, gesturing to Foxtail.

@Cloudy
"Nothing, darling. Your help is much appreciated. If you really wanted to, you could get some prey for the patients,"she mewed softly, before taking the packet from the young tom. Taking the herbs, Geckoleaf unwrapped it quickly, and chewed it into a thick paste, which she applied with sharp, deft movements to the shallow stomach wound. Making sure her patient was still unconscious, so that her work would remain unhampered, she then reached towards her side, where a pile of cobwebs and catchweed lay, discarded in her haste to clean the wounds. Grabbing a wad of the white bandaging material, she packed it into the wound, to staunch leftover bleeding, and hold in the poultice. The feline then applied a top layer of cobweb, just to keep the wadding in place. To secure the bandaging, she used the small burrs, which were painless but effective. Geckoleaf then moved a step away from Foxtail, to survey her work. Realizing it was too loose, and the bandaging would easily slide from off its place, she secured it further, just as a fail safe.

(sorry for the double post! this is for a roleplay with frisk-)

After assuring that her patients were all treated, and resting comfortably, Geckoleaf trotted towards the back of her den, a pile of herbs sitting scattered on the floor after her frantic flurry to prepare for the influx of patients after the battle to regain RiverClan's freedom. Surveying the mess, she let out a soft sigh; there was work to be done, and much of it. Sitting down, she began to sort the plants, mindlessly. Fennel, burdock, daisy, ginger. On and on this went. Time passed, and she felt nothing. After spending hours doing this, she had learned how to ignore reality and retreat into her own mind.
But this time, something strange happened. She felt her body tighten up, the muscles in her back and legs contracting, and she involuntarily adopted a rigid stance. Her mind felt tugged, and she realize what the sensation was; she was being pulled into a dream by StarClan. Instantly, Geckoleaf relaxed. She knew that they had something to tell her, but what she could not guess.
Soon, she was enveloped in a trance-like dream. Images flashed rapidly before her, and then their speed slowed. She saw things; the color red, a deep russet, with dark swirling patterns traced across it. A pair of yellow eyes, deep and luminous. And then, she saw a cat; she recognized who it was. Russetswirl, whom she had met only in passing. He was standing on the highrock, with a proud look on his face. And then, it morphed and shifted again. She saw an ancient-looking tom, who she had no idea of his name. He seemed to move towards her, smoothly, and she heard him say; "Restore the ranks. Your clan must be lead." At the end of his sentence, the she-cat awoke again, where she had been before, her paw raised as if to sort herbs.
Geckoleaf knew what she had to do. She had to make Russetswirl the leader.

Large gray eyes peered into Geckoleaf's den, soon to be followed by a large, black body. Cougarstorm was just barely able to configure his large form into his love's den; though it was difficult, the large warrior manage to squirm his way in. The silver tail tip of Cougarstorm twitched impatiently as he pondered across the den with his eyes, searching for Geckoleaf. "Geckoleaf," Cougarstorm called quietly, waiting for the she-cat to appear, "I need to talk to you..."

"Yes?" she inquired softly, her voice quiet and mellow, hard to be heard above the rustle of cats outside, but loud in constrast to the silent of her den. "Is something wrong?" Geckoleaf mewed, seemingly impervious to the fact that Cougarstorm was not in distress, but simply needing to talk to her.

At the appearance of his love, Cougarstorm smiled slightly; his grin warm and sweet. The tom kept his warm gray eyes affixed to Geckoleaf, anticipating her inquiry. "G-Geckoleaf," he stumbled over his words clumsily, " y-you know how we love each other." Cougarstorm kept himself quiet, wanting the medicine cat to respond before he continued. For some reason, at that moment, Cougarstorm-- who was normally very outgoing, was defeated to a hasty, muttering mess.

As her gaze settled upon his face, she watched it alight with happiness, and her tail swished in response; she loved it when she smiled and hated seeing him down. But at the moment, something curious happened; he seemed to lose his composure, and be reduced to a babbling mess, albeit a sweet one a that. "Yes, darling? What is it?" she murmured, head tilting to the side, as she attempted to elicit a cohesive response from her lover.

Geckoleaf stiffened, her body running rigid. "Cougar-we can't. It's not that I don't love you- I really do, with my whole soul, but what would their life be like? They'd be nursed by some other she-cat, and they'd never know their mother, and you'd be distant enough. Even if it was someone we both knew and trusted, I just couldn't do that to them. I-... I'm so sorry. I know it tears you apart, and me too... But we can't be parents. I have duties, and so do you. This clan provides for us as we must do for it." She stopped for a moment, realizing how she sounded. Like the clan took priority over their love, over everything they held dear. "I want kits. I do. But we can't have them now. Not here- we just got a new leader, and the four clans are in ruins.." Her voice trailed off, voice thick with emotion. "I love you so much. But we just cant." The feline averted her gaze; she couldn't look at Cougarstorm, and see the emotion he carried in his eyes, his want to have kits, his love and desire for her, and his hurt that she had refused him something he held so dear.

(since we were going to have them fight in the clearing or forest, and then gecko comes back to arctic, maybe instead arctic comes in after they finish fighting?)

Unlike Geckoleaf's body, Cougarstorm's sagged with emotion; he wanted to understand his lover's reasoning, but it seemed contrary to reason. "So," he meowed, his gaze indignanat, "the clans, and cats who probably want to kill you are more important than me? I see, this whole 'love' thing is just an act to push my buttons." Without another word, he turned on his heel and fled; before he tore through the thickets, he turned his head to give Geckoleaf a tearful glance. Cougarstorm was gone.

(Alright, sounds good!)

(Alright, sounds good!)

The medicine cat felt an unexpected surge of anger course through her, her veins filled with fire. "Fine! If you don't trust me, than just leave!" She spat, her words uncharacteristically sharp. For all of her soft-spoken nature and hesitancy to use strong words, Geckoleaf loved Cougarstorm deeply, and his words accusing her of being unfaithful to him and their dedication to one another. It struck her to her core, his words as sharp as a bite to the neck. Audits flattening backwards, the feline quickly lost her sharp edge, and her emotions turned quickly to desperation and hurt. "Cougar- wait!" Geckoleaf cried desperately, her words loud and clear, another deviation from her usual soft spoken self. But despite her worry for him, Geckoleaf didn't run after her love. If he needed time, or if he even was done with her, she still couldn't blame him for his reaction. She had realized the mistake of her words too late, but it may have cost her a dearly loved relationship, and friend.

Tears began to stream from her eyes, emotion and shock overwhelming her self control. They pooling in her her sapphire blue orbs, and she blinked hard to keep seeing straight. Gratefully, the den was devoid of any other souls, and her outburst and relationship would not be discovered. Turning tail, Geckokeaf fled to a hidden corner in the back of the den, a mossy spot protected by vines where she kept the most dangerous herbs. It easily hid her small form, and only there did she allow herself to let loose, rough and ungainly sobs wracking her body, soft sobs escaping her mouth, and more tears dripping from her eyes. How had she allowed herself to slip, and make such a mistake? It was obvious, in retrospect; she should've instead told him that it just wasn't the time, and she just wasn't yet ready for kits. Then, none of this mess would've happened. Maybe Cougarstorm would've been disappointed, but she knew he would've understood. But not this, never this. It was her fault, and what she'd said would always be inexcusable.

Once again, the bushes rattled, though this time less intense and lower to the ground. Peeping his head through the thicket barrier, Arctickit had a concerned look on his features; he had seen the infuriated tom burst out of the den. He wasn't too concerned by his actions, but it was the weeping that had sounded afterward that had made him anxious. Arctickit's eyes not quite adjusting to the blinding darkness of the den, he couldn't make out the figure of Geckoleaf cowered in the corner, wails escaping her maw. Curious as to the reason of the weepings, Artickit ventured deeper into the den, his gray-brown tabby tail flicking with a bundle of emotions. "G-Geckoleaf?" he trembled, afraid of the possibilities, "Are you okay?" he trodded forward, his ears plastered against his head, and his small body trembling.

Letting out a quick sigh of relief that nothing terrible had come upon the medicine cat, Arctickit smiled softly at her. Oblivious to what Geckoleaf's words could have meant, Arctickit stretched forward towards her; Arctickit felt jovial, for some reason in that cave. The kit had been incredibly dubious of his apprenticeship that was nearing at a rapid pace, and with the nursery seeming to decrease in size thanks to the new arrivals, and only really felt safe when outised, or in a den with very few cats. Arctickit barely thought of his fears though when he squeakex, "Well then, do you need any help?"

Geckoleaf laughed softly, at the relief the kit obviously felt from she herself being alright. A smile nearly crossed her muzzle, but she felt too down, and instead the edges of her lips lifted slightly, softening her harsh expression of sadness. "I actually don't think there is a whole lot you can do. Unless you'd like to learn some basic herb functions and help me compile general injury packets, I could just enjoy the company. I've heard the best remedy for sadness is company," she responded softly, her voice slightly steadier than before. It touched her that the kit cared so much about her though, when she hardly knew him. But even though she had meant the herb sorting jokingly, she had a creeping suspicion that Arctickit would accept. Geckoleaf had taken a liking to him, and was thinking of making him her apprentice.

Joyous for the excuse to escape the nursery, Arctickit obliged with a chirp of, "Sure!" The kit padded over to the herbs, his maw stretched wide over the many plants, his pelt pickling with excitement. Though not every scent was quite pleasing, he was quite optimistic that each would be just as fun as to sort. His bright blue eyes glitter over to Geckoleaf a smile perched on his childish features. "What packets are we sorting?" he asked quietly, gazing over the herbs once more, trying to take in as much as he could, but it all jumbled together in a very minty scent. He cradled one that was very enticing to him; a very comforting scent that drew him closer. Arctickit backed up though, knowing that if he got any closer he would devour them. His pupils were wide, almost covering his entire eye, "What does this do?" he questioned Geckoleaf calmly, gesturing to the herb- catmint- with his grey-brown fluffy tail.

Watching the kitten, Geckoleaf felt a surge of joy fill her inexplicably, momentarily overpowering the ominous sense of pain in her chest. Arctickit was strikingly similar to her, from when she had first become interested in the world of healing. She remembered the wonder and awe when Marshsnow had taught her about herbs, the way they healed and interacted. She twitched her tail, and then slowly rose, her tears now stilled but wet in her fur. She then padded towards the young tom, and then sat next to him. He was already tall next to her, his ears reaching her shoulder when he was standing. He would be big.. Like Cougarstorm. She stiffened at that realization, and then swallowed hard, forcing the lump in her throat down. She couldn't freeze up again, not when this young tom was so promising. "That's catmint. It can be used to cure Greencough and kitten cough, and sometimes the odd sore chest," she responded, ears angled towards the kitten. "We'll sort traveling herb packs from healing ones. I'll teach you the scents, because they look the same on the outside."

"Well," Arctickit mewed quietly, "It smells delightful!" his voice was a quiet chirp as he skidded over to where Geckoleaf was, hovering over the herbs that they were to sort. Before looking down at the herbs, he took Geckoleaf's words for granted, thinking that the plants would be quite easy to sort, no matter their similarity. As Arctickit turned his attention to leaves before him, they all seemed analogous, and when his stretched his mouth to take in their scent, it was the same heap of scent that he could not understand, no matter how he looked at it. His bright blue eyes landed on Geckoleaf, waiting patiently for instructions.

"This is hard, I know, and took me many months to master as an apprentice. But it's fun, trying to sort them." Moving upwards, she swept a messy pile of beech leaf packets in between them, and by scent, deftly pulled out two of the packages, and placed them apart from the mound of leaves, a little ways away from each other. "Alright. The one on the right is healing. They have a sharper, more earthy tone. And one the left are traveling herbs. They have a gentler scent, and are more definitely floral. Smell them both, and then slowly nose through pile until you find one corresponding to each. Then, put it with the right herb packet I already placed down. Then, once have the piles, well put them away. Alright, love?" She mewed, waiting to make sure he understood her instructions, however vague and ill defined they were. She had never tried to explain something like this before.

Arctickit cocked his head to the side as he gazed at the herbs, his eyes contemplating the leaves before him. Crouching low to the ground, Arctickit placed his nose against the leaves; now that the description was in his head, it was easier to sense the diffence that it held. Picking up one that had more of a softer scent, which Geckoleaf had explained were traveling herbs; he picked them up in his maw carefully, and set them in the beech leaf. His ears pricked at the leaves, as though he could hear the diffence; again, he lowered his head again, this time closing his bright blue eyes, concentrating on the smells that permeated from the leaves. Arctickit placed one of his forepaws on the nearest leaf, and suddenly, he felt a connection of some sort towards it.

Healing... The thought poured into his mind; Arctickit thought nothing of abnormality of the thought. He placed it in the beech leaf designated for the healing leaves. Arctickit placed his paw on another leaf; Traveling this time it was much faster as it flooded his mind. Again, he placed the herb onto the small pile, and quickly did the process over and over again, until the pile was empty. Arctickit looked up at Geckoleaf, his eyes wondering how he had done, expecting to be corrected, though everything was right.

(His first connection to plants! ;3)

A look of surprise crossed the medicine cat's face, a look of such shock that you'd think StarClan themselves had come to visit her. She had never, in her entire life, seen a cat catch on to it so quickly. And he was deft and quick, despite having never touched herbs before. And even she could not navigate herb packs that quick, just by touch. "I.. I... Goodness, darling, how have you managed to do that? By the stars above, it's as if the leaves are speaking to you!" She meows to the kitten, a tone of genuine admiration coloring his words. Of course, she didn't have any clue that Arctickit actually could feel the herbs. A sudden that struck her; he would make a brilliant medicine cat. it struck her without warning, but she knew it was right. It felt right, and it was right. But Geckoleaf also knew not to jump to conclusions. "Arctickit, would you like to learn some more herbs, and try applying them to real situations? You seem like quite a promising candidate for apprenticeship."

Arctickit let a worried expression cross his features; he didn't know that his strange way of sorting herbs was almost a miracle. At Geckoleaf's question, Arctickit gave her a perplexed look, "I-uh- touched it and the-uh- name came into my mind..." he didn't know why his exceptional-or how he thought normal- way of sorting was so surprising. Though Arctickit was quite taken aback by Geckoleaf's attitude, he was still quite prideful of the adirmation that was laced in Geckoleaf's eyes. Arctickit felt quite excited of his supernatural-sorting; but as Geckoleaf asked for Arctickit to become her apprentice, his bouncing slowly degrading to a little flick of his tail. "I- of course!" Arctickit chirped, his voice boisterous as he spun in an excited circle. Arctickit had finally achieved something that no one could demean him for, something that they could never understand.

She laughed slightly, a high clear note in deep contrast to the sobbing from earlier, a much darker sound. Her clear eyes twinkled with mirth; the excitement of the kit, soon to be apprentice, was infectious, and she too smiled, a wide toothy grin. "Now, slow down. How did you hear the plants...?" Her voice trailed off, because she already know the answer. StarClan had meant for it to be, for him to have this gift and to be her apprentice. "Of course. It makes sense," she spoke, addressing no one in particular. "Your meant to be my apprentice, is more that one way." Turning towards her herb shelves, she felt her mind spark with curiosity; could the kitten divine the use of a herb simply from touch? And so she picked a inconspicuous herb. A dried petal of chamomile, which looked like a wilted leaf, or a dried flower petal. It had a faint smell when it was this dried, and the only way to know its use was from being told, or by a gift from StarClan. Gently, she grasped a single dried petal in her leaves, careful not to crush it and release the sweet odors contained within. She set it before Arctickit, and a hint of challenge glinted in her eyes. "Can you tell me what this herb does, just by touch?" She murmured lowly, voice soft and inviting for him to try.
(chamomile; relaxation, and to help a throat feel better. and it smells good x3)

It was hard for Arctickit to wrap his mind around what Geckoleaf had just said. A gift from StarClan, but I'm hardly anything special... The young kitten kept quiet as Geckoleaf muttered to herself; everything that had happened was quite strange and difficult to figure out. When his future mentor zipped off without a word, Arctickit flopped into a sitting position, waiting for Geckoleaf to return. When the medicine cat returned with a shriveled leaf, Arctickit was quite surprised, thinking that it would be something different, but as the small kit settled back into the crouching position, he gave Geckoleaf a curt nod. Arctickit placed his paw on the dried chamomile petal, careful not to annihilate it. Chamomile the word, along with the enticing scent, flooded his mind. He could picture the plant so clearly in his mind; it was so beautiful, so fresh.

Arctickit shuffled his paws off of the petal, only to mutter, "Chamomile..." in a very mesmerized voice. As Arctickit got to his paws with hesitation, a small, blooming fern blossomed where his foresaw had been. It was faster than imaginable, shifting and growing into a beautiful plant. Stumbling back a few steps to almost glare at the fern. "Chamomile!" he shouted over the blood pounding in his ears.

A smile crossed her mouth as he whispered the name, which she had never told him before. Geckoleaf watched as his eyes widened, and he moved backwards in a disjointed manner, as he looked towards the newly bloomed plant.
But she soon saw his panicked expression, and she moved forward to comfort him, as a mother might. It was irrational and maternal; she saw a kit in distress and moved forward to comfort him. She gently nuzzled him on the head, her nose slightly parting the downy white kitten fur. "Hey.. I know it's a lot, but your okay, kitten. Your fine," she purred, in a gentle tone she hoped was comforting. She gave his fur a soft lick, and then turned her gaze towards the bit of green sprouted in front of Arctickit. Her tail swished around the kit, and she nipped the plant at its base, hoping it would cease the growing.

Arctickit exhaled softly as Geckoleaf leaped forward to comfort him; he was quite confused and afraid of what had happened, and having the medicine cat comfort him made him feel as though he were floating, for some reason. Arctickit had a very haggard expression on his face, and he trembled into a sitting position. Practicing blinked hard as Geckoleaf removed the chamomile; it ceased from sprouting anymore, but when Geckoleaf discarded it, it leafy a large crack in the stone carpet, with small pebbles scattered around. "W-what happened?" He muttered, more to himself Han Geckoleaf; Arctickit ed answers as to what had happened, but everything was so confusing and disorienting.

The medicine cat gently stroked her tail down the kit's spine, slowly and deliberately, to attempt to comfort the distressed kitten. Turning her gaze, she eyed the leafy plant, almost suspiciously, wondering if it would keep growing even from a slight distance. She twitched her ears towards the kit at his question, muttered to no in particular. So she didn't respond to Arctickit, as she knew he'd need a moment to at least process what'd happened to him. Poor baby, she thought, a flash of sympathy streaking through her as he sat and shook, trying to process what was happening. Moving towards him slightly, she began to groom his fur, her rough tongue smoothing down his fur, despite the fact it was already clean and soft. She remembered her own mentor doing this for her when she came back from a hard day with the other apprentices. A soft smile crossed her face at the old memories, bittersweet and faded. She pulled herself back to the present and glanced down at Arctickit, quivering next to her, and she gave him one last lick before nuzzling his head, the fuzzy white fur tickling her nose.

@Lilly

Geckoleaf padded slowly into her den, the feeling of warmth enveloping her comfortably. She let out a sigh of relief, feeling content and relaxed in the pleasing familiarity of her workspace. The musty scent of herbs carried on the gentle draft that whispered through the den, the sweet and pungent aroma filling her nose and relaxing her. She smiled in joy, tail flicking lightly. After the stress of having a horrific attack in the territory, losing Arcticpaw, and now gaining Cricketpaw, the feeling of ease and peace that the space provided her was refreshing. Her surroundings seemed quiet and close, and she hoped that, with time, her apprentice would come to feel similarly. Swiveling her head around, she looked back at the entrance, coated with heavy vines and thick, hanging moss, waiting for the bengal to enter. Exhausted from their journey, however, she staggered to her nest and sank down, the moss inviting and warm. Geckoleaf would naturally rise again once Cricketpaw had entered, but for now, the promise of sleep that it offered seemed much too tempting a deal.

Geckoleaf would naturally rise again once Cricketpaw had entered, but for now, the promise of sleep that it offered seemed much too tempting a deal.

Muscles shaking as she entered the den behind Geckoleaf, the dark furred Bengal let out a sigh, the sound whispering through the den and absorbed by the dimly lit walls that surrounded her. The mossy vines that hung down, sheltering the medicine den from the rest of camp, swung down back into place, shaking slightly from a leaf-bare breeze that rattled the branches outside. Instantly, the unfamiliar scent of herbs hit Cricketpaw's nose, and she paused, taking a moment to breath them in. Soon, she knew that with time she would eventually come to place a name with the scent, and the thought of having this extra knowledge sent a thrill of excitement rushing through her. Although her forepaws were all but limp from exhaustion, the she-cat's mind was active and awake, flipping through the different scents as if they were pieces of different prey. The sweet aroma filled her nostrils and exhilarated her. After a few brief moments, she opened her eyes and glanced over at where Geckoleaf had sank down into her nest. Sleep she though, her paws automatically making their way back to where her old nest has been from when she was a patient. Despite the nagging thoughts that she would soon have to began her training, the tired apprentice sank gratefully down into the nest, it's warm and soothing appeal drawing her in as her muscles released a sigh of joy, relaxation sweeping over her in waves. "Did you want to start now, Geckoleaf?" she murmured, a yawn cutting into her voice half way through, jaws parting to reveal her glinting white teeth.
