A young boy sat at the steps of the school, patiently waiting for the classes to begin. Leigh glanced around, his leg bouncing up and down at a rapid speed despite the weight of his elbows that were rested on his knees. He twiddled with a rubber band with one hand, though pulled his hoodie closer to himself as a chilly breeze ruffled Leigh’s dark curls. His dark eyes scanned the smaller sized campus as he waited for anyone; anyone he remotely recognised. Leigh pulled up the dark grey hood to block the wind that made his ears feel numb, and tried to rub warmth into the tip of his nose and his fingers. The short boy, approximately 14 or 15 years old (it was hard to tell; his short height and large eyes portrayed innocence that made him seem younger) glanced down at his old watch. School would start in around 5 minutes, thankfully. Leigh slung his backpack onto his back but did not stand, though was prepared for the flooding of students off the busses.

Juniper shoved her way through a large group of kids standing on the sidewalk in front of the school. The yelled at her to watch where she was going. "Jeez, Juniper, do you have to be so rude?" a kid asked, attempting to trip her. She sidestepped the weak attempt and cried over her shoulder, "I don’t know what your problem is, but I’ll bet it’s hard to pronounce.” The kids rolled their eyes, "very original." "I don't need to be original, I need you to shut up," she replied, smiling and nodding. She continued walking and stood at the door, checking her watch. Only a few minutes left until the bell would ring.

An over-worn leather jacket was the first thing that you could identify Nathan Arbstruck by, obviously the jacket being stolen from his older brother, who was quite popular in the school. Quite the opposite of Nathan, actually. But, nevertheless, the two brothers were almost inseparable, and even their familiar-looking faces could show that. Nathan was almost always late for school, and would surprise any one of his class mates if he wasn't just in after the bell. Today, he would be tardy again. That was a given. But, with his hazel eyes scanning over the masses of students, before landing on a fairly recognisable one, Nathan had a good reason to be late this time.
The caramel-skinned teen quickened up his pace, albeit not to an overly-fast one. Nah, he was too leisurely for that. Nathan approached the short boy with a large smirk looming over his face. He had his dark red rucksack -- battered and beaten up -- pulled over on a single shoulder, the other strap hanging loosely by his spine.
"You come here often, kid ?" he spoke up, his voice dripping with sarcasm. For his age, his voice was actually surprisingly deep. Puberty had certainly hit early for the teen, and it was kind of obvious. He was tall, slim, and had voice cracks fairly often, but he wasn't losing his interest in school or gaming. That was a definite.

A voice shook the young teen from his thoughts, making him jump a little. His head turned quickly and his gaze fell upon Nathan. Leigh raised a brow slightly, the rubber-band twiddling ceasing. He knew of Nathan’s fondness for sarcasm but couldn’t quite tell if this was him being sarcastic or whether this was an actual question, so Leigh stared at the other for a second longer than most before hesitantly saying, ”Like, every day? Unless I’m sick...”This had meant to be a statement, though the boy’s voice rose, making it sound more like he was guessing, rather than actually answering.

Leigh really was trying his hardest to “get” sarcasm and he’d been working at it for a while, though clearly much work was needed to be done. Sarcasm wasn’t used much in his home and he’d been homeschooled up until his freshman year of High School; a mistake on behalf of his parents. While he was up to date academically, Leigh wasn’t used to the amount of socialisation in a public school. The only people he’d spoken to before were just his parents, grandparents, and the occasional neighbor. Besides that, he didn’t have very good social skills. Leigh was certainly polite enough, and often apologised excessively, and had perfectly fine manors. Though, he wasn’t so good when it came to joking around or in this case; sarcasm.

Reaching a hand up to adjust the jacket layered across his slender frame. Nathan couldn't help but let a long, heavy-hearted sigh break through his lips. His tinted green pools were hidden momentarily, as his eyelids closed over them. The teen quickly shook himself out, however, and he simply regained his composure and went on with his conversation. "Ye-up." he piped, sliding a little closer to the diminutive boy. "You're still not getting the hang of it, Leigh." Nathan wrapped his arm around the younger boy's build, setting his hand on top of his wavy, brunette hair. The boy stroked his friend's head in a platonic fashion, before pulling away with another, cheeky grin. "But, you will eventually."

After a few moments of the tan-skinned male just blatantly staring at his friend, he eventually cast a glance towards the main entrance of the school. He noticed that there were now less people trying to clam themselves in, and he took that as an opportunity to send a swift glance towards Leigh. The thin male then swung his arms back, heaving another deep sigh, then afterwards started to amble towards the doors. It was obviously his buddy's choice to follow or not, but Nathan was certain, or at least definite, that he would.
