Reaching Stones Valley

Note: This is a public thread, open to everyone who wishes to use it.

What a strange place this is.

A large hilly field dotted with flat stones that reach toward the sky,
often visited by a pawful of Twolegs who come throughout the day.

They smell of grief, and they stand by the stones,
sometimes placing flowers or other objects beside them.

Even with their intrusion, it is quiet here, peaceful.

Birds and rodents are abundant in this valley,
though it provides minimal shelter from the elements.
Some of the reaching stones offer some protection from rain,
providing cats with crevices carved into the stone they can duck into,
but that does not prevent the cold breezes that drifts through the valley.

Very few of the reaching stones are like dens.
Enclosed in stone, cold to the touch, blocked off by weaved sticks
harder than any rock they know.
For the cats who can find a way into these, they have better protection
from the wind and rain.

For outsiders, this may not be the best place to make a home,
but it provides food and companionship if they seek other cats
or to comfort the Twolegs in mourning.

Re: Reaching Stones Valley

It'd been some time since Lionstorm left Clan territory, and he was itching to do something different. Sure, anyone could stomp around the outskirts and act tough but not many braved the Twolegplace.

This part was unfamiliar to Lionstorm as he sprang up the stone wall that separated a large field from the maze of Thunderpaths. He'd never gone this deep into the Twolegplace, never needed to, but he was bored and curious about what lied beyond Clan eyes. The field in question was sprawling - somewhat rolling hills with oddly shaped stones that reached toward the sky itself. How strange! Boulders didn't usually look like this.

Jumping down, he headed into the field with perked ears and bright eyes. Perhaps there'd be something interesting here? He stopped below one of the stones, looking up at the flat facing rock curiously. "What creature would leave claw marks in these?" They weren't like normal claw marks, either. They.. were smooth, they lacked rough edges and seemed to be engraved into the rock.

A tall tom with the fur color of black approached this area. Within, his ears perked as he looked around. These...stones looked rather interesting. Walking over to one, he looked at the flowers that low below it. “Very interesting..” he mused, raising a paw and trailing over it. Looking over his side, he saw a golden colored tom looking at one. “Your curious of what these are aren’t you?” He rumbled, his yellow gaze facing his. Blackstone was rather curious of this other tom.

➵ Illicit ⛓
Illicit perched atop one of the thicker, slightly taller rocks. He gazed around, his eyes extremely sharp and critical, his ears perked up. Perhaps he would settle here, there seemed to be plenty of opportunities. And, to add to that fact, oddly, Twolegs seemed to come here.. and, well, cry. Whatever. What did he care about some sappy people letting out waves of water? He knew the real reason he was here was the reason he wasn't allowed to think about - no, it was.. He knew what it was. Illicit squeezed his eyes shut tight, trying to stop the.. memories and things washing over him. Not that much, to be honest, but he had some! So.

"Hello," he growled, his anger briefly obvious before he covered it with a wave of.. just there. No, he didn't have a smile, exactly, but his expression wasn't anything of negative. He was doing his best to hold it back. "Twolegs come here and cry. There's plenty of prey.. go hunt if you will, but save some for the rest of us." He opened his eyes and stared down at Lionstorm. "Oh, thank God," he meowed with relief. "I'm just terrified of meeting cats who look even remotely like.. this dude I know. Not just.. know. Ugh, I should shut up. Should just stop talking about Blackhaze. See! Look at me, I'm a mess. Ignore me, darling."

Ruby looked around her, frowning. what a strange little place. there were flat stones she had never seen before, but they seemed to make her housefolk cry. some of them were shaped interestingly; she didn't think nature had made them. she watched as one of her housefolk placed a rock on one of the stones, and cried silently. she wondered what made them so sad to be here.
the wonder was swept away from her as she smelled a scent.
Mouse!
Ruby crept up on the rodent she could now see, then, when she thought the timing was right, she pounced. there was nothing under her paws. she pouted, annoyed that she hadn't got the mouse.

Pit watched as what seemed to be a kittypet tried and failed to catch a mouse. I could help you with that if you want. he mewed, stepping out from behind one of the flat stones. This place was weird, and he didn't like it, but his time here seemed to have paid off. Perhaps this cat was interested in living somewhere other than with smelly twolegs. Hopefully. He kept his gaze warm as he took a few steps towards her. @Ella_heart

Ruby looked around. she hesitated. she hadn't seen this cat before.
"O-ok," she answered, "um.. who are you?" she wondered if it was a rude thing to say.

He hadn't intended to be creepy or unnerve the she-cat, but it seemed that was what he had done. I'm Pit. A loner from a ways away doing a bit of exploring. It was rather theatrical and fanciful, but he did like to think of himself as a bit of a wanderer sometimes, even though he was well settled down with Nala and the kits. It sounded nice anyway. His head tilted sideways. He couldn't tell if she was a kittypet or simply lived in the twolegplace, but he wasn't going to pry, at least not yet. And you're name is? he prompted, settling onto his haunches. @Ella_heart

"Ruby," she mewed.
"you said you could help me with catching a mouse. Do you know how?" she asked. She wondered what a loner was, but decided to ask later. If pit really could help with catching mice, she might want to catch more.

Re: Reaching Stones Valley

Of course I know how! Pit mewed, already scenting the air for a likely target. I have to or else I'll starve. This cat was definitely a kittypet if they were surprised he knew how to hunt. Lowering into a crouch, he mewed The first part of hunting is the crouch. You want your tail low, so nothing sees it, and your weight a bit more on your back paws, so you can leap quickly. In his own he moved silently and smoothly, front paws then back stepping in small motions up under him before sinking his weight back a bit more and pouncing on a leaf. @Ella_heart
