The weather was fair that day as Sage swept through the town, his basket slipped over his arm and filled with bright red apples. He gently adjusted his clothes before he placed his basket down and began the simple job of selling the fruits to those willing to pay, and gifting apples to those unable to give him money. His slender fingers pressed against the smooth skin of an apple, picking it up as three guardsmen swept through the town. He smiled slightly, not glad to see them but needing to keep up appearances nevertheless. "Hello." He greeted them warmly, placing the apple on the table. "How are you today, sirs?" He didn't react as they questioned them about a mysterious trio besides a shake of his head. The leader swept the apple up in his hand and took a large bite, sauntering off. Sage's expression turned into one of slight disgust before he picked up the basket and headed into the forest on his way home. But the faint cries of a boy were enough to alert Sage to an injured teenager lying a few yards away, bloodied up and limp. He moved quickly to the boy, hastily trying to pick him up and help him back to town when a rustling alerted him to the presence of the two assassins.
