BrookClan is known to be quite formal, even within their own Clan. Open displays of affection are uncommon, but that doesn't mean that there is no bond between BrookClan cats. Rather, they are deeply loyal to each other and their Clan. They simply feel uncomfortable with too much touch or extravaggant declarations of love. BrookClan holds a balanced attitude towards war. They prefer not fighting, however if there is a large enough gain from war they will not hesitate. Romantic love is considered to be fleeting and generally quite shallow by BrookClanners. In fact, interclan relationships are allowed due to this. Most mates don't last together for more than a couple of moons and break-ups tend to be quite mellow. Though some last for months.

BrookClan believes that the weather at the time of a cat's birth can say all sorts of things about them. In fact, some cats claim to be able to predict a cat's entire personality just based on the circumstances of their birth.

Clan competitions - Competitions are very common in BrookClan. They are usually announced the day before, and range from races to storytelling competitions. There is typically no prize, the winner just gets the respect of their Clanmates and bragging rights.

Feather gifting - Gifting a cat a feather is considered to be a highly romantic act and carries a bit of ritual with it. It's customary for the cat who receives the feather to reply with a short poem thanking the other cat. Cadets often spend evenings trying to compose such poems and dreaming about the day when they will finally receive a feather. The more difficult the bird the feather is from is to catch, the higher 'value' the gift is. Receiving an eagle's feather is considered to be a declaration of love that will last forever.

Naming

BrookClan has a naming system that is different the leader would name the kits as the parents would name them as apprentices and warriors but they give the name to the leader which a meeting is held. Kits get a prefix at birth from the leader and the suffix -paws. Apprentices are claws. The suffixes of adult cats are linked to either skill or personality.


Territory
BrookClan's hunting grounds are a small mountain covered in a dense forest. Its main trees are cottonwoods and palms . It is a tough and dangerous place to loners and any other cats who don't know how to survive there. A waterfall falls from the side of the mountain. There is desert to the north.

Camp: The camp is on a grass hill, with a good view of the surrounding territory. It is surrounded by thorny bushes that protect the camp. Most cats prefer to sleep in the middle of the camp, with only the sky above them. When it rains, they hide under whatever cover they can find. Though the elders and Queens have their own dens.

Climate: There are only two seasons. There is the wet season (new-leaf and Leaf-fall), when it can get unbearably hot and humid, to the point that BrookClan becomes nocturnal. However, plants bloom and many animals emerge during this time. The dry season (leaf-bare and Green-leaf) is a bit cooler, but droughts are fairly common and weather can be harsh.

Prey: There is a lot of prey in BrookClan territory, mostly lizards, crows, moles and mice.

Predators: Due to a recent influx of merlins and rattlesnakes, the territory has become quite dangerous. Watch out for Foxes.

Landmarks
Stream's Barn - A human barn where a friendly loner named Stream lives.
Mossy Trench - A small dip in the ground covered in spongy moss. Mostly used for sparring.
Crows Lake - A place where prey is common. And Herbs.
The Minnow Tree - A tall spruce tree where many Minnows live. Cadets often practice climbing there.
Sleeping Monster - A sleeping monster that hasn’t moved for as long as any cat can remember.
Tall Alders - A large grove of very tall Alder trees that was planted by twolegs. It is home to many wrens.
Twoleg Railroad - A small twoleg railway. However, it is abandoned and twoleg monsters hardly ever drive across it.
Gathering Place: Fiverocks - Five large stones sit in the middle of a small valley, each representing one of the Clans.
StarClan Meeting Place:
The Starfall - a waterfall coming out of the side of a large hill.

BrookClan is led by the council. Membership fluctuates frequently, with cats joining and leaving as they perform great feats or fall out of favor, although it is mostly determined by seniority. There is a council leader called Elder (their name), the leader of the Clan, who determines membership and lets cats know if they can speak up at the next meeting or if they should stay quiet. The Council Deputy (their name star) also in charge of assigning the patrols. Council meetings are held with the rest of the Clan gathered around the council, although they have to stay quiet. Patrols are assigned by the Council Deputy in the Clan.

Healers uses herbs to heal the sick and injured among their Clanmates. Typically, they are not considered to have a special role in the Clan, just one different from their Clanmates. They can have mates or kits, but cannot give them special treatment. A cat can become a medicine cat by contesting whoever knows the most herbs when they are a kit many kits fight to learn. A Kit must speak to the Leader for a battle/contest to begin.


Warriors: make up the majority of the Clan’s population; they are responsible for hunting and patrolling borders, as well as the numerous small tasks that a Clan might require - such as repairing dens. During a war, they make up the fighting force.
Senior warriors: are warriors who are old or accomplished enough to be highly respected. What turns a warrior into a senior warrior can be subtle and difficult to understand for someone who was not raised in BrookClan. It is not a formal rank, it is a show of how respected a cat is and how many responsibilities they are assigned.

Caretakers are cats who are expecting or nursing kits and will stay in the nursery until they become cadets. If there are any other caretakers in the nursery, they take care of their kits together. It is not uncommon for she-cats to choose to leave the care of their kits to someone they’re close to and return to their duties once their litter is weaned.

Cadets are young cats who are learning the ins-and-outs of their duties in BrookClan, the skills needed to complete their duties, and the Clan’s history. They are expected to obey their mentors, to keep up with their training, and to look after the Clan’s older cats by bringing them prey and cleaning out their bedding.

Elders are cats that have retired due to age. They are no longer able to perform their duties, so they spend their days relaxing, telling stories, and teaching the younger members of the Clan about BrookClan’s history. Due to their considerable experience, they are highly respected.

Kits to Cadets

Kits should have existed as a kit for at least one month real life time and be deemed suitable for the promotion.

You should have at least six roleplay posts made with that kit.

The character should not have recently been punished by a high rank, or have been caught in roleplay doing something that violates the Warrior Code or Roleplay Guidelines (that is punishable by a high rank.)

Kits are made to learn basic hunting and climbing, warrior code and clan skills skills before being made Cadents.

Cadets to Warrior

Apprentices should have existed as an apprentice for at least two months real life time.

Have at least one hundred (20) roleplay posts as an apprentice.

Apprentices need at least five instances of training experience that include the company of a warrior. The warrior does not have to be their mentor. Apprentices are encouraged to seek out training from warriors other than their assigned mentor.

These experiences must include:

One hunting lesson

One battle training session

One climbing lesson


Here are some ways to get the remaining two training experiences your character will need to qualify for a final assessment:

Patrols (hunting, border, battle, herb collection)

Battle experiences (such as raids - requires a battle training session)

Any other life experience where the character learns something substantial

Plot participation


When applying for a ceremony, these should be linked in your form for reference. This is to prevent characters from becoming warriors without having any actual form of training! You are responsible for organizing your own training sessions, but you may be placed on a patrol at a high rank's discretion.

Cadets need to actively attend at least two Clan meetings. This includes showing up to their own ceremony through roleplay and, if applicable, reacting to the ceremony accordingly. For example, if a cat becomes a warrior in the meeting, the cadets should join in with chanting the new warrior's name.

Cadets are required to complete a final assessment once they have met the minimum training experiences. The final should consist of both hunting and battle training, to ensure their skills are satisfactory. Final assessments can be overseen by any warrior, although the mentor is preferred if available.
The character should not have recently been punished by a high rank, or have been caught in roleplay doing something that violates the Warrior Code or Roleplay Guidelines (that is punishable by a high rank.)

Characters who have not made these qualifications by the age of 18 moons will have their progress assessed ; at 21 moons, their place in the Clan may be reassessed.


Warrior to Elder
You will need at least 250 posts with the character as a warrior.

If they are eighty moons or older, they will qualify to become an elder due to old age. Prior to being eighty, they will need a valid reason to retire, such as a health condition. This condition will need to be verified by the medicine cat/medicine cat apprentice. If they believe your character is fit to remain a warrior or too unfit for Clan life.

Anyone Else to Elder
Outsiders cannot join as an elder, even if they are disabled.
