High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

Sundust inhaled deeply as he followed the clan into the clearing. He had allowed himself to fall back to the rear of the group, much preferring to watch everyone rather than walk beside Dawnstar at the head of the crowd. It seemed the amalgamation of Thunderclan and Shadowclan had arrived first. What would the other clans make of this? What would they say? Whatever they did, it was Dawnstar's problem, not his. If she wanted the responsibility of two clans, then by all means she could have the full load of it. His gaze flicked to the sky, taking note of it's clarity. He.. didn't quite know what to make of it. Geez, wasn't he supposed to be some super wise shaman or something? Obviously, it seemed like their ancestors had no qualms about what was going on, but he couldn't understand how that could be. They weren't that stupid, were they?

His eyes found Rosepaw, and padded over next to her, continuing his path to the Seastones. "You ready?" he whispered. This wasn't necessarily as nerve-wracking as their initial assumption of their role - he couldn't see the other clans trying to harass them - but it was still something new. It was so strange standing in front of crowds, feeling like everyone had their eyes on you. Despite his anxiety, he still moved to sit where the medicine cats usually gathered. He was a bit excited to meet them, and perhaps get a bit of advice. He had felt almost fraudulent, bumbling through healings with the vague knowledge he had. Of course, he was grateful for Cricketpaw's visit, and he had definitely picked up a thing or two from Ebonyfang, but the more herbs he could learn, the better he would feel.

He curled his tail tightly over his paws as he waited for the rest of the clans to arrive. Thankfully, his fur looked mostly presentable today. In a stroke of luck, it had been somewhat cooperative when he had groomed himself before the gathering, and he - for once - did not look like a chick struck by lightning. Of course, it was still not neat but it was better than usual.

He wondered if his mother was watching this gathering. He was positive she would at least appreciate his semi-neat fur, seeing as she had spent so much of her time trying to get it to lie flat. He remembered his apprentice ceremony, especially, and about she had spent so long grooming him that he was nearly late, and eventually throwing the towel in, and sending him out with a loving nudge. Well, at the very least he was confident she would be proud of him.
