“Ocean waters rising above your neck
You feel the glass start to crack.”

Seabreeze gave a small nod, trying to not betray his guilt or mixed up feelings that he had about Frostmelt show to a stranger and even more so trying to prevent it from performing well while on this hunt. Hunt, Seabreeze feels like he’s been doing that a lot lately, with Frostmelt, Mudsmoke, and now this. So much in such little time, like what happened the last time he went hunting in Haven Springs with Frostmelt. So much went wrong in such little time just because he couldn’t hold himself together once someone mentioned Cloverpaw. Or rather, the lack of knowledge on Cloverpaw was what tipped him off. He shook his pelt out to desperately distract himself from his thoughts and narrowed his eyes out into the terrain, only half hearing Riverwhisper’s comment on his and Frostmelt’s relationship. Ugh, great, this was really the last thing Seabreeze wanted to deal with right now. “Yeah, me and umm, me and Frostmelt are acquaintances more than anything.” The lionheart offered in response. [ D20: 16 | Pass ] Seabreeze finally heard something in the distance so that he could escape from the situation even if only for a small time it took for him to hunt something.

The lionheart motioned towards the noise with his paw to tell Riverwhisper and Frostmelt silently where and what he was doing before Seabreeze went ahead and padded off towards the sound. Once he was closer, Seabreeze dropped down into a crouch and made his way along the earth towards the fluttering of wings in the distance. Then through the reeds he spotted the prey, a seagull seemed to be picking at a lizard that it had under its talon. Seabreeze shifted slowly, making his way to be downwind from the creature before starting to creep forward on careful paws. [ D20: 20 | Major success! ] The lionheart, with practiced ease, crept through the reeds. When he made it into pouncing range, Seabreeze pounced, shifting his weight to his haunches suddenly and shooting forward. The gull hardly had time to squawk before it was under his claws and given a harsh bite. Seabreeze didn’t pull back from the creature though, letting his paws rest on its motionless form as he stared down at the gull with blue eyes.

He really, really, really didn’t want to go back to the group so soon but he needed to otherwise they might get worried. Why did Seabreeze have to ruin things between him and Frostmelt! Why did it even matter? Frostmelt was a cat that he hardly even knew. He was just another warrior just like Duskleaf or Appleberry. Just another warrior, but he was a warrior that forgot his sister and he was a warrior that seemed so genuinely confused at what happened to her. It felt… weird. Something was off with Frostmelt and Seabreeze just couldn’t put his paw down on it. Still, he had a job, and that job wasn’t sitting and over thinking his life’s choices, it was hunting. The lionheart took a moment to bury the seagull nicely before trotting back through the terrain to join up with Frostmelt and Riverwhisper again. Speaking of knowing other cats, Riverwhisper was a cat that the lionheart knew only from being disruptive during a clan meeting and then Seabreeze subsequently having to escort him out of the camp. Other than that Seabreeze had no prior experiences with the tom. The lionheart suddenly felt the need to make sure that this cat wasn’t any sort of trouble maker. It was his duty to make sure he could keep things under control in the camp to help his leader, maybe the meeting incident was a one time thing, maybe not, it would be good for Seabreeze to know which cats he needs to look out for.

Seabreeze returned to the patrol’s side, “I caught a seagull.” There, that was easy enough, Seabreeze was good at giving reports. It wasn’t so emotionally driven, reports of hunting. Either you got something or you didn’t, why couldn’t all things in his life be dealt with so simply. He could hardly stop himself from sighing from such a thought.
