CW: Blood mention

Before you sits a dilapidated double-story farmhouse. It’s a relic of a home where two-legs used to live - its age given away by the encroaching ivy, overgrown grass, and oaks that sit tall surrounding the property. There is an old dirt road, overgrown and crumbling from water erosion. If you were to follow that trail, it would lead to a relatively unpopular hiking trail - this road is known for being scary, assumed haunted, by unfortunate hikers taking a wrong turn. It is a decent distance away from the clans, and is about a day's hike from the main road. On the house itself, all the windows have long been broken out… portions of the walls are beginning to rot away and few exterior supports have collapsed. From what you can see on the outside, you assume the inside is just as bad. The property is surrounded by a rotting wooden fence, and the yard is overgrown with local flora. The property trails down a slope at the back of the house to a steady flowing creek, this creek flows downhill. To the side of the house are two stone cross markers, indicating two graves - they look old. A large oak tree has grown into the side of the house, shading most of the front of the house.

You've heard whispers of this place before… The House of Horrors…

…The Ghost of the Garden…

“It’s haunted right?” A voice mumbles quietly to the other. Both figures remain crouched in the distant foliage. A silence lingers between them for what feels like ages - the only sound is a whistling wind above the trees, causing their branches to sway back and forth.

“I think so… We should just leave…” The other sounds scared, rustling slightly in their place.

“Don’t be a scaredy cat.” The voice taunts the other harshly, “It’s probably just infested with rats. Come on.” Shelter is needed. More so as a rumble of thunder rolls across the sky, dark clouds threatening rain shortly onto the landscape. Pensively, the pair begin to make their way from the brush onto the overgrown property. The voice entered first, their muzzle scrunching up in disgust as waves of rot, death, and mildew washed over them. The other came next, squeezing through a rotting gap of wood until they were alongside the voice’s bristling frame.

“Are you sure we sh-'' A loud agonizing wail sounded off somewhere in the house, alerting both cats. Their hackles stood on end as they looked around wildly for the source. A scratching - no- a scraping noise seemed to run along the upper floors… growing increasingly frequent until it seemed to come from all around them. A deadly silence. Then, another clap of thunder sent them both sprawling with surprised fright. A rustle there, a scuttling noise somewhere in another room. Small bones and half-rotted prey carcasses being dropped from above, thrown towards the pair without care. The suffocating smell and dampness from the sudden downpour coming through holes in the roof felt almost too much. The energy was rancid. They were unwanted - uninvited rather. It was made more than clear by the sudden electric shift in the air. Another crack of thunder and a sudden flash of lightning illuminated the rafters above. It was quick, a split second glance at a ghostly white pelt, but what lingered were those piercing, emotionless blue eyes staring directly at them. And then they were gone into the dark again.

“G…GHO..GHO..” The other wailed, their voice breaking with fear as they turned tail to run immediately, leaving the voice alone - paralyzed. After a few moments the voice turned to run but it was too late. Whatever occupied this house was on them in seconds, piercing claws and teeth grabbing hold to slam their body into the ground with ease. The voice hardly even reacted, eyes closed as they seemed to be accepting their own fate. The toothy grip on their shoulder released, the warm stench of blood mixing with the damp as a heavy breath slowly lingered up until it was right against their ear,

“Leave.”

The ghost spoke, its voice soothingly husky, though it's words were spoken as a threatening command,

“Or I will kill you.”

It finished off, the weight lifting from the voices body, followed by the painful retracting of claws slowly scraping down their pelt as the ghost seemed to retract into the shadows. As soon as the last claw slicing through soft flesh met air, the voice bolted off without a second thought and into the storm.

Silence again…. Finally.
