Doeflame

Finally, the battle was starting. Doeflame bounded after her group eagerly, ready to fight. She listened to Twilightstar as she spoke, but her mind didn't fully process the information, the leader's words flowing around her like water. What she did catch was that there were a lot of minks. At least they were smaller than her. She should be able to kill quite a few of them. But she had to wait for Twilightstar's signal to kill them. Okay, she could do that.

Doeflame's paws kneaded the ground as she waited. Anticipation bubbled in her chest, and she was on alert for a signal- whatever that might be. Eventually, Twilightstar's yowl split the air and Doeflame launched herself at the minks without a second thought.

Her aim was perfect, but the mink she had targeted was quicker than she had expected and her paws landed on nothing. A moment later pain shot through her leg as the mink sank its teeth into it. Doeflame twisted around to pull it off, letting out a small hiss of pain as the mink's fangs tore her flesh as they were ripped out. She snapped its spine and went for another one.

This time she succeeded, claws sinking into its backside as she slammed another paw on its neck, crushing it. But she had no time to celebrate as claws sank into her back. She reared, attempting to dislodge it, but its sharp claws just sank further into her back, provoking a snarl of pain and frustration. With no other option, Doeflame rolled onto her back to squash it. It squealed, and she rolled back over to kill it.

She stood up, struggling slightly because of the wound on her leg, and was immediately attacked by a mink leaping at her face. She ducked, but its claws ripped painfully through her ear. Blood ribboned down the side of her face, and a cry escaped her maw as pain tore through her ear like a wildfire. Newfound rage eclipsing the pain, Doeflame lunged at the creature to grab one of its legs and bit down. The bone snapped with a satisfying crunch, and Doeflame threw the mink down, hard, before letting it crawl away.

Most of minks had been defeated now. Doeflame stood on three legs, taking the opportunity to catch her breath as she felt the blood trickle down her cheek. She had torn her ear, she was sure of it. But they had done it. Almost, anyway.
