"Leafy...kit?" Hawkkit nudged their best friend. "Wa-wake up!" Leafykit was still. "Please!" Hawkkit shook Leafykit. The sunset was gone, leaving only stars and streaks of orange in the sky. "Please..." At least their friend would always have enough prey, endless warmth, and never suffer thirst or hunger again.
