"You need to listen to me! I took my mate because I didn't want anyone to think I was in love with you!" she snapped. It had been a horrible lie she had told so many people, I'm in love with dogblood. Yup. Oh who was that Tom you were talking to at the gathering? You seem awful close. She shivered. Citrus blazed
Had asked her about charmpelt and it stung her to deny his claims. I would have loved to let everybody know he was mine... Or I was his... Or that I was in love. And it's slipping away.

As he kept walking shiver stayed right with him taking backward step after backwards step to stay in front. Even if the whole of Shadowclan saw her she didn't care, this mattered, stopping him mattered. Finally he got ahead of her, and kept walking like she was nothing. That hurt. She was short compared to him, she may have a lean body but her legs where so short, she was struggling to keep up and she often fell a few paces behind him. They were nearing the border. Than an idea popped into her head. She stepped back and flopped down to sit. Refusing to move. "charmpelt... I never loved dogblood... He was my cover charmpelt" she snapped now getting irritated, why won't he listen to me?!? "I told you already I love-" she paused for a long second.

Her eyes began to water and suddenly she felt like her whole world had stopped. Her eyes studied his and she could tell he wasn't joking. Bile rose in her throat and this time she didn't swallow, she didn't wanna speak. She couldn't speak even if she had wanted to. And what would she say. Finally shiverlight broke, tears streaming down her face and trailing through her dark grey fur and onto the forest floor below. She bit her lip and slowly stood. She didn't need an escort. Not from him. She raised her head high and stuck out her chin, she couldn't let him hurt her. Maybe she had struck the worst blow but he couldn't see that he had hit his mark. She padded past him and paused for a moment looking back at him over her shoulder.
The Chausie didn't want to listen to her. He didn't want to hear a single word she was saying, trying to turn a deaf ear to it all. "Just stop, Shiverlight." His voice was weary, exhausted. He wasn't angry - just drained. He should have expected this. Opening himself up again had been too good to be true, and now he was paying the price for it. He'd been stupid and crazy and had come so close, only to have love ripped away from him once more. As if going crazy, the tom began to laugh, his ears pricking forward in a more friendly manner. His eyes didn't light up or sparkle with laughter, however - they remained cold and distant, and the rest of his body remained tense. All that changed was his facial expression and position of his ears.

"You know what's funny? I actually thought you were serious for a minute, that you were actually considering me... that you might actually leave your precious mate and come with me... but what was I thinking? You're the great Shiverlight. Nothing could persuade you to leave your home. You're so determined to stay loyal that you know what you're doing? You're becoming blind to EVERYTHING else. I guess it's pretty easy for you to turn my own game against me, huh, love? Well the joke's on me. Giving me a taste of my own medicine, I suppose."

His eyes flashed furiously as she sat down, began speaking again, making excuses. The RiverClanner was so finished with her excuses. He was done with her acting like she was different from someone who was breaking his heart for fun - she had. And she had done it so manipulatively, so subtley, that he had never noticed it was happening. He had barely noticed himself falling in love, but he had definitely noticed her breaking him. "Shut. The. Hell. Up." He snapped, his ears going back, his eyes flashing angrily, fur prickling furiously, his whole body tense. She didn't actually love him.

Or she would have left Dogblood for him. Charmpelt had stopped his own bad habits for her, or he would have, but now he was going to go right back to them. Flirting like nothing had ever happened. As far as she was concerned, he had never changed. He was just the same self-centered, flirty tom that he had always been. And he most certainly had never fallen in love with another cat other then his beloved Jema.

PROFILE PICTURE REFERENCE

I mentioned on my profile that I was starting over. A fresh start is best for me right now; I've created quite a few new characters, and they will all be on my site, but not all will be used in roleplay right away. it's likely I'll bring them in more gradually.
