news

predators are out as the prey drops. beware of hungry foxes and other creatures looking to hibernate.

a new rogue by the name of crimson has joined the tribe. he must be given a moon to show his loyalty before being appointed his mentor, which has been decided to be lone digger.

introduction

you climb one more hill, looking out among a vast territory. your paws tingle with the itch to run off, feeling wind in your fur and undergrowth brushing against your face. preparing to pounce, your body flattens to the ground, but before you can take a single step, a voice calls from above you. “hey, who goes there?” they say, before leaves rustle and a nimble feline drops to the ground with grace. “state your name, trespasser,” the feline, revealing themself to be a calico molly, orders. confusion laces your mind, but you answer anyways. “well then, welcome to the territory of the tribe of fallen stars. i am dappled wind, and i will escort you to meet my leader, clouded sky.” you try to protest, but the molly cuts you off. “you have no choice. you are in the territory of the tribe, now. clouded sky will decide what to do with you,” states the calico before she turns and begins to lead you towards a wall-like structure made of mud, twigs and stones.

history

long ago, in the dead of the night, a star fell from the sky. it landed in the center of a large forest, creating a ditch in the ground. a light burst from the center of it, calling forth many wandering felines in the area. from the light, a starry-furred cat trotted out. “you must work as one to build a tribe,” they had said, “for many moons to come, this land will belong to the tribe of falling stars. three leaders will reign within the tribe, but only one will rule the entire territory. that one will be the seer. they will receive nine lives, and must protect the tribe at all costs, leading them on into the future. a leader will become of a hunter, and the other a guard. together, all of you will bring the tribe to greatness. now, my time is running short. build a camp to live for a long while, with dens for every cat.” their head dipped before they went on, calling three names forward. “star, cloud, and moon. you shall be the leaders of the tribe. star, i grant you the name of falling star. lead your tribe on as the seer. by the next full moon, you will have received your nine lives. cloud, i bring upon you the title of the lead guard. your new name is to be storming cloud. and, finally, moon, i wish to give you the honor of being the lead hunter. feed your fellow felines well, soaring moon.” the figure began to fade away, even as the three cried out, wanting to know more. they were not prepared to lead a tribe, and did not know what to do with the new names that they had been given. but, alas, the cat had already disappeared, without even speaking of a farewell. for the next few moons, the tribe of fallen stars was built, and it still stands today, thriving with life. and now, the first leaders, falling star, storming cloud and soaring moon are watching over us from the night sky. that is the history of our tribe.

about

the felines that reside within the tribe have very thick pelts during the winter, and their fur thins very little in the summer. they generally have dark eyes and equally dark pelts to keep camouflaged in the territory. the tribe cats show little mercy to outsiders, however they will protect each other at all costs, as the tribe is fastened together as a big family, even if they aren’t all blood related. their territory lies in the areas of northern europe, with very little enemies around to steal the land. each tribe cat is named after a unique attribute about them, but they are not named until they are six moons old. until then, every feline has their own personally temporary name to be called. the tribe looks to the stars for guidance, and all those who do not believe in the spirits held within the stars are exiled from the tribe.

territory

the beech tree- marks the end of the tribe’s territory. is home to many pieces of prey.
the training grounds- where trainees and their mentors come to train.
pinkplace- all tribe cats are forbidden to enter the pinkplace. many collarcats and enemies, plus dogs and pinkies, reside here.
fox hollow- where foxes, badgers, snakes, and other predators make homes. tribe cats are required to stay away from this area as to remain safe.
mates’ marking- a hill that overlooks the land beyond tribe territory. most mates come here and scratch an x into the beech tree, which is placed close to the mates’ marking. it is said to be very romantic here, especially in the moonlight.
swift stream- a fast-paced stream that is very dangerous to all cats. everyone is to stay away from the stream as to stay safe. it resides near the eastern border of the tribe.
owl's overlook- a tall, twisted tree that an owl family makes a home out of. is placed close to the training grounds, and is very resourceful of prey. many herbs grow here.
death hollow- the burial grounds. whenever a feline dies, the loved ones of that cat will come here to bury them. a silent, mourning vigil is kept overnight. death hollow is to the west of the training grounds.

camp

outer walls- the walls of the camp are strong, built to keep out the strongest gusts of wind. they are made of a mixture between mud, twigs, and stones. the top of the camp is open, allowing tribe cats to see the sky above them at night. trees surround the camp to help protect it from heavy rainfall.
den of the seer- only the seer is permitted to enter. the den of the seer is a large, hollowed out boulder with a bramble covering.
den of leaders- this den is limited to the lead hunter, lead guard and their mates, if wanted. it is a hollow tree stump east of the seer’s den. vines are tangled around it, used as an entrance.
den of guards- only the guards of the clan are permitted in this den. it is built of mud and brambles, with room to expand if needed.
den of hunters- the den of hunters is built for only those who hunt to sleep in. it is built very similar to the den of guards, with room to expand if needed.
den of trainees- only trainees are permitted into this den. all mentors are given the ability to bypass this rule as to get their trainee ready for the day’s work. it is a large, hollowed tree stump that is covered in mud and stones, with room to expand if needed.
den of youth- the den of youth is where all pregnant mollies and their young stay until each kit is old enough to become a trainee. it is a structure made of the materials that built the camp to ensure maximum safety for every feline inside.
den of wisdom- when a tribe cat becomes too old, or is injured to the point of no healing, they come to live within the den of wisdom, sharing their stories with the tribe until it is time for them to pass on. it is built just like the den of youth to ensure maximum safety and comfort for the old bones of the elders.
den of healing- if a tribe cat has become injured, has an illness, or even just has a belly ache, they must come here for the seer to heal them. it is built just as the den of wisdom to ensure comfort and safety for those who must sleep within it. the den is large, with multiple nests, herbs and a small pond in it.
pile of prey- after every trip within the territory, all hunters are to drop their prey into the pile for the entire clan to share. all elders, the sick and injured, queens and kits are to take from the pile before the rest of the tribe can.
stone of stars- a large, flat stone in the middle of the camp. the tribe gathers around here every moon to have ceremonies, share news and share prey with each other as the night sky illuminates the land.

battle moves

back kick - explosive surprise move to catch opponent from behind. judge opponent's distance from you carefully, then lash out with your back legs, taking all weight on your front paws.
belly rake - a fight-stopper. slice with unsheathed claws against the soft flesh of the opponent's belly. if you're pinned down, the belly rake quickly puts you back into control.
front paw blow - frontal attack. bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head. claws sheathed.
front paw strike/forepaw slash - frontal attack. slice downward with your front paw at the face or body of your opponent.
killing bite - a death blow to the back of the neck. quick and silent and sometimes considered dishonorable. used only as a last resort.
leap-and-hold - ideal for a small cat facing a larger opponent. spring onto opponent's back and grip with unsheathed claws. now you are beyond the range of the opponent's paws and in position to inflict severe body wounds. a group of apprentices can defeat a large and dangerous warrior in this way. watch for the drop-and-roll counter move, and try to jump free before you get squashed.
partner fighting - warriors who have trained and fought together will often fall instinctively into a defensive position, each protecting each other's back while fending off an opponent on either side. slashing, clawing, and leaping together, battle pairs can be a whirlwind of danger for attackers.
play dead - effective in a tight situation, such as when you are pinned. stop struggling and go limp. when your opponent relaxes their grip, thinking you are defeated, push yourself up explosively. this will throw off an unwary opponent and put you in attacking position.
scruff shake - secure a strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponent's neck; then shake violently until they are too rattled to fight back. most effective against rats, who are small enough to throw. a strong throw will stun or kill them.
tail yank - grab your opponent's tail and yank it with such force your opponent is thrown off balance.
teeth grip - target your opponent's extremities- the legs, tail, scruff or ears- and sink in your teeth and hold. this move is similar to the leap-and-hold except your claws remain free to fight.
upright lock - final, crushing move on already weakened opponent. rear up on back legs and bring weight down on opponent. if opponent does the same, wrestle and flip them under you. this makes you vulnerable to the belly rake, so it takes great strength and speed.
half-turn belly rake - turn onto your side, slip under the opponent's belly, rake it with your claws, then swiftly turn back onto all fours out from under your opponent.
badger defense- leap over opponent, turn on your back legs and bite opponent's leg. used only when fighting badgers.
duck and twist- simple defensive move. the cat ducks then twists around, rolling over onto their back, and then springs to their paws.
jump and pin- complicated move. leap backwards, and bounce off a wall-like structure. with precise accuracy, land on the opponent.
