he purred softly, calling out a greeting to minty shade. "hello," the tom said, voice warm through his thick accent. lone digger raised a paw and waved it towards the molly, then went back to his thoughts. he was unaware of ending heart's presence.

lone digger squeaked, his ears flattening in embarassment. "so- sorry ending heart," he stuttered, dipping his head slightly. a heartbeat passed before the tom was jumping to his paws, a bright gleam in his eye. "i'm ready for a patrol!" his tailed curled up and over his spine, a sign of excitement within the havana brown. lone digger's paws kneaded the soft ground beneath him, fur fluffed up against the icy wind. whiskers fluttering, he began to pace in a small circle, adrenaline now pulsing through his veins.

oh, how he loved being a guard! it was rather exciting, to say the least. protecting the hunters as they found prey for the tribe, assisting the leader on trips around the territory, it was all so, so exhilarating. lone digger was prepared to protect his tribe at all costs, as long as it went on to thrive for many more moons.

his heart beat faster than swift stream's waters, eyes bright and sparkling. the tom awaited ending heart's orders, ready to leap into action at any time. even looking for ticks in the elders' fur was like going into battle for lone digger. past thoughts forgotten, he finally calmed himself enough to stay in one place and listen carefully.
