Mallowpaw took a seat in front of Spinglight before she began to speak. The pauses between words made it slightly harder to follow, but at least it wasn't as bad as Flashpaw's stutter had been. She had barely been able to understand the ShadowClan apprentice.
After showing them marigold, cobwebs and poppy seeds and telling them they were used to treat wounds, Springlight launched into a explanation of another herb, yellow bells. Apparently it helped with infected wounds and stopped bleeding if combined with marigold.
Mallowpaw's gaze fell on the orange flower as Springlight began explaining its uses and habitat. It prevented infection and was found in areas near water from newleaf to leaf-fall. Mallowpaw filed that information and stored it in her mind to use at another time.
Next was cobwebs. Mallowpaw had seen them before; every cat over the age of a kit had. But it was good to know more about them; where they were found, how to collect them and how to use them.
Then Springlight showed them a poppy and explained what the seeds did. Mallowpaw found herself staring at the tiny black seeds, so innocent-looking but so powerful. They didn't look like they could numb pain, let alone kill a cat if they overdosed.
The Mudhound had a question. Curiosity pricking at her, Mallowpaw glanced up at Springlight for the answer.
