Amelia’s thin body was curled around Sappho so securely it was hard to tell where one cat started and the other began. The loner was a brilliant white, usually, though the darkness of the color muted her pelt into a softer version of herself. Her delicate head was rested on her mate’s back, seeking comfort even in sleep. The two mates were entwined together at the far edge of one of the chambers in the tunnels, keeping to themselves as they often did. Amelia woke with a start, her green eyes growing wide as they swiveled around the tunnels. She wasn’t used to waking up in darkness, though they had been staying in these tunnels for a few days now. Maybe it was longer. Amelia had lost track of time. The small she cat raised her head from Sappho and parted her jaws in a small yawn. Amelia’s green gaze flicked to her sleeping mate, a small flicker of warm blooming in her chest whenever she looked at the other she cat. The two had been traveling for what felt like seasons, tramping through unknown forests and towns in search of a better town. Amelia could still feel the small ache in her paws from their long nights of walking, though she never found herself complaining. She was only excited to finally have a home for her and Sappho. For them to be safe and warm and together. Amelia couldn’t help but rest her forehead against the she cat’s shoulder, breathing in her sweet scent that always seemed to bring peace to the shy feline. The white she cat hummed softly, content with staying intertwined with the pale loner. She rasped her tongue a few times across Sappho’s cheek, nuzzling the peaceful she cat gently. Amelia let out a small puff of warm breath, deciding that morning could wait for a little while longer, and rested her head on Sappho once again, her green eyes sliding shut. However, a small ruckus further down the tunnels was cause for alarm. Amelia uncurled herself from around Sappho, her short legs trembling slightly in fear. It didn’t sound like a fight, more like an argument. got the better of her and Amelia stepped carefully over her sleeping mate and poked her head out of the chamber, narrowing her eyes into slits to see further down the passage. Tentatively, Amelia began to pad down the tunnel, glancing over her shoulder every now and again. “Is everything alright?” Amelia’s soft voice traveled towards the two toms, her ears folded to the back of her head shyly. She wasn’t one to speak up, but the concern fluttering in her chest would not desist until she was certain no one was hurt.
