Once the next cat was done, Fernpaw rose to her paws and padded forward lightly. She looked almost graceful, stars gliding through her fur as she came forward to the ShadowClan deputy... Soon to be leader. The light ginger apprentice smiled at him, stopping in front of the Tom.

"Greetings, Goldeneye." She mewed clearly, her eyes sparkling with stars as she tipped her head back to gaze up at him. Her expression was gentle, welcoming. "I am Fernpaw - Former ThunderClan apprentice. I died in the fire a long time ago." Her eyes trailed behind him now, seeing something, remembering something, but flashed back to his face in a second. "It's a pleasure to meet you," She purred, before reaching up to touch her nose to his.

"I give you the life of Bravery." She murmured. "Leading will be scary sometimes. But remember... Being brave doesn't mean you don't get afraid. It just means you have the courage to keep pushing through the fear." With that, Fernpaw drew back, and lowered her head respectfully. "Lead well, Goldeneye." She said gently, before turning and padding back to the group, settling down again and curling her starry tail around her paws to watch the rest of the ceremony.
Goldeneye was quiet, watching as the next cat came out of the ranks. It was amazing how all of them knew when it was their turn. However, that left him thinking about other things such as-how did they get chosen? Who is in charge of Starclan? He knew there were no borders, but still. Someone had to be in charge right? How would leaders get their lives from certain cats then, and not have a bunch of different cats stumbling over each other? Or did they just talk and say 'Okay, you'll go, and then they'll go, and then they'll go'? Was that something he really should be pondering right now? He would find out soon enough he guessed. He dipped his head slightly as the she-cat stopped, a silent greeting from him.

Then the life came along. He hadn't been able to tell that this she-cat was an apprentince, but now he knew. He felt the same thing he had felt when looking at Larkkit for the first time, just with the pain dulled down slightly. He still felt bad however, despite knowing he couldn't have done anything, even if he had wanted to. He didn't comment on it, letting the apprentince touch her nose to his, and felt the life flow into him. He didn't know how to describe this life really, so he wasn't even going to try. Bravery. That was something he had really needed. He still kind of needed it too. When Fernpaw moved away, he listened to her quietly. "Thank you," he murmured. He was going to be saying thank you a lot today, wasn't he? Well, he might as well get used to it. Two more. It was hard to believe it was almost over, trying not to get lost in his own thoughts and questions as he waited for the next cat.
