"This ought to sooth the stinging and it will prevent infection too. But I want you off warrior duty for two days to give that paw time to heal." The tom reached up with his paw to apply the herbs to the gash above her eye, but he found that he couldn't quite reach with his stiff shoulder. "Uh, do you mind?" he asked.

"Of course." she crouched down a little so Shinefang could reach the wound. She held her wounded paw off the dusty ground. "And I'll make sure to stay in the nursery for a few days as well. I'm not surprised you thought I was a full warrior. I just like to hunt or do something else when my kits are asleep."
