Go smoothly. Blinking his leaf-green eyes hard, he slid into the same
Exact clearing where Kestrelpaw SHOULD HAVE trained two moons
Ago. But she escaped, the naughty kid. As annoyed as he was with
Her. He still had high hopes that perhaps one day Kestrelpaw could
Become something bigger, better. Someone kits could look up to and
A cat who could motivate apprentices and beat the crap out of her
Brother if she wanted to. All she had to do was put in effort, and she
Could be grand. Ugh, but the spotted warrior couldn't train a pouting
Apprentice, could he? Well, Sprouts would just have to motivate her
Then. Somehow. Aha! There was only one way to get her motivated
Enough to train he could think of off the top of his head.
Shrikepaw.
"Look, kitto, I'm gonna tell you a secret. You have to promise to not
Tell Anyone, especially Shrikepaw." He leaned close to the multi-
Colored apprentice. "He's doing three times better than you at his
Training. Yeah, Shrike's winning. Now I understand you want to beat
Him. It would make me the proudest mentor ever if you were strong
Enough to beat your brother in a spar." Maybe that would help, but
Maybe not. Worth a shot. "Are you ready to prove you're better than he
Is?" Lying about seeing his training wasnt nice,, but if if worked, then
Kestrel would be three times better than her brother.. in theory..
"Prepare for the horrors
This night will keep repeating over and over
And over
Until you make it to the end"

Following after Sproutfleck, expression entirely sheepish, Kestrelpaw kept her head bent low. She felt ashamed of herself, no matter how much she wanted to deny the feeling. Her tummy felt all queasy as anxiety built in her chest, making everything feel too pent-up.
When they finally arrived at Firefly Cove, Kestrelpaw ducked her head in embarrassment. This was where they'd been last time. Where she'd meant to actually do her training with Sproutfleck but then had gotten distracted midway and then ended up going back to camp because she hadn't wanted to explain why she'd disappeared for so long.
It was safe to say Kestrelpaw was feeling entirely miserable with herself until Sproutfleck spoke up about... a secret? A secret that Shrikepaw didn't even know?! Perking up slightly, ears swiveling in the direction of the splotched tom, Kestrelpaw peeked up at her mentor, listening intently for once to his words.
. . .And once he was done speaking, the tan apprentice had found her words again. "Yep, yep! Can do this, am gonna learn fightin'. Shrikepaw is gonna LOSE!" (where even was Shrikepaw?) "They're not a he, they're a they, but they're still gonna lose!" Kestrelpaw beamed after giving her spirited reply, and then seemingly recalled who she was talking to. Right. The disappointed mentor. "Em... I wanna be better than Shrikepaw..."
Oh.... don't cuss don't cuss don't cuss crap, he had
misgendered his own apprentice's sibling! Sprouts knew Shrike was
nonbinary, but for some reason he didn't say the proper words. Well, at
least Kes-stress didn't seem to be bothered in the least! Not by that, any-
ways. "Alright, I'm going to go over some pretty basic battle moves,
but they can still stain your paws in a battle, don't worry." The spotted
tom promised, dropping into a crouch. This would be the first thing to show
Kestrelpaw, since it was pretty simple and was the ground of all defensive
tactics. Kes-stress was young, and he didn't want to think about her using
offensive attacks on some warrior. Her mindset was triple her paws and her
strength. Maybe this was a good thing?
"This is the defensive crouch. Notice how I'm leaning back on my hind
paws more than my front ones, this leaves room to duck and swipe with less
off achance for your opponent to whack your face. As you can imagine, not so
fun to be whacked." His haunches were ducked low to the ground and front
a little higher, so he could swipe easy and jump back if need be. He wanted to
cover one offfensive one as well so Kestrelpaw didn't think he was purposefully
focusing on defensive moves. In theory, paws crossed.
"This is the Defensive swipe. A pretty simple yet helpful move in a
battle
when your opponent is.... bigger than you." Toootally not calling
Kes-stress short. Whhaaaat? Hiiiim? Neeevvverrr. "So take your paw,
unsheathe your claws, curl your paw a bit inward, too. Now you would
suddenly put more weight on your fore-paws, lean forward briefly, and go for
the eyes. If your opponent can't see, they may have trouble going for
you. Make sure to slip back into the crouch quickly, though, or your opponent
may get you." He slid back into a sitting position, sat down, and
awaited his apprentice's attempts. "I'll correct you and move you
into the proper position if I notice you're in an incorrect stance."
Sprouts-a-lot meowed, green eyes fixated on Kestrel.

the Tom purred at the joke his mate made "sure sure, yes its a rabbit but there is something waaaay over it too!" he nudged his mate to close her eyes and he meowed after a moment "tadaaa! its the place I confessed all my feelings to you and best of all, its not a rabbit, its a vole." he purred as his mate huffed and sat by him. "see, not mouse-dung, its a vole, warm and fresh too."

Turquoise eyes watched Sproutfleck as he first demonstrated the defensive crouch. So of course, as expected of her, the five-moon-old apprentice dropped into a defensive crouch as well, albeit a slightly clumsier one. Not fun to be whacked in the face indeed!
A little while later, she was copying his defensive swipe, swinging wildly in front of her while trying to maintain her balance. "Look! I'm doing it!" Oh wait... he'd said something. Take her paw... unsheathe her claws... curl..? What the heck? Folding her toebeans slightly inward, - ah, there we go! - the young molly attempted to lean forward to swipe at an invisible foe, but instead only stumbled forward, nearly faceplanting, and then staggered backward in her attempt to regain balance. Only, she tripped over her own tail and landed on her rump.
Once the pair had arrived at Firefly Cove, she inhaled sharply, pausing for a moment to take in the sights. It was getting warm again, so this place was regaining it's lively beauty. Green eyes drifted over to meet her mate's own eyes, to which she smiled.
“I wish we were here for personal, more romantic reasons… But duty calls, doesn't it?” As she spoke, she made sure to sign her words as well–she knew that Sparrowpelt had learned how to sign recently, but she decided to communicate in both ways she knew, just in case there were certain things he didn't know how to convey, so this could serve as another sort of learning experience.
Her focus returned to their surroundings once more as she carefully stepped her way past newly budding flowers.
The warrior was pleased to find that both of her patrolmember came quickly, and nodded a greeting first to Ashenheart, then to Leopardlilly, before- Hawkcatcher blinked. Then forced herself not to blink again. Bosslady? Having had many apprentices and often interacting with younger cats, Hawkcatcher had acquired quite a few different nicknames, mostly just variations of her usual name, with a few 'grump' or 'stoneface' thrown into the mix, but it didn't mean she ever got used to being referred to by things other than her name. "Right. Let's go then."
She was very happy that specifically her patrol had been assigned to go to Firefly Cove. Usually, she only came here late at night to, well, breathe. Something about the small dancing light mingled with the cool tranquillity of summer evenings had always made this place special to her.
But today, hunting was on the agenda. Hawkcatcher glanced over her shoulder at the two other warriors. "Let's spread out and meet up here again in a bit." It was the usual way she did hunting patrols (unless there was an apprentice who needed supervision or training), but it was still almost customary in her book to speak the plan aloud.
