As you approach, you are unnerved by their smoldering gazes.

You know you're being judged for all your worth, but you're determined to make your case. It's not every day cats try to reincarnate, and you're tired of being trapped here. Perhaps your first life didn't go as planned.. but the next one is going to be better.

All you have to do is answer them.

"What makes you stand out from the rest of the cats who want another chance?"

Currentpaw felt the smoldering gazes burning through his pelt as he made his way to the clearing, he usually was confident but here he felt completely out of his league. Timidly he looked around, what was he doing? Would they even say yes!? Composing himself he quickly reminded himself of the reason he was here and why he was requesting to be reincarnated in the first place. "this is for riverwhisper, remember." he muttered under his breath reminding himself he was doing this for his brother. Gulping down his nerves he stood strong and looked around boldly. "Hi-" he squeaked out. "Hi"??? He cringed at his own words. Seriously that's what he said, he was off to a 'great' start.

"Um sorry, what I meant to say.." Currentpaw began again apologetically and clearing his thought briefly. Why was he a nervous wreck when he had to be convincing for once. "I don't think I deserve to be reincarnated any more than the last cat but I'm not doing this for me. I'm doing this for my brother, Riverwhisper. " he said this time seriously finally managing to compose himself and control his emotions. "I know you've heard this story before: that I was young and reckless and very stupid. That I died before my time and it isn't fair. It's all true and that's just how life is, I understand but...I want to go back for my brother. My death has weighed down on him throughout his apprenticeship and even through his moons as a warrior. He feels guilty for how I died and blames himself. I can't stand here knowing my own death is affecting his LIFE, I want him to move on and be happy! To enjoy his life to the fullest not constantly regretting things that had happened in the past that was out of his control." Currentpaw explained.

"If I could be given another chance, it's not just about me living a full life. It's about giving Riverwhisper the closure he needs, the chance to move on and finally fully accept the happiness and great things life has given him." Currentpaw said confidently making sure no sign of nervousness was displayed in his voice. "I want to be there for him, to share the moments we missed, to reassure him that everything is okay and that he's not to blame. Please, let me return so I can lift this burden from his shoulders. I know I wasn't the perfect riverclan cat before , but I can change for the better! I just need a second chance to make things right with him." Currentpaw pleaded hoping that atleast someone would understand but he prepared himself for the worst. Was he being selfish in wanting to spend see his brother again? He waited nervously for their responses, he was never good at being convincing

The long gone queen always felt a pang when she came across cases like this. Cats who did no real wrong but still died to soon and so were separated from their kin and home, and didnt have the benefit of many of joining other loved ones in the stars. As was the case that some cats had all their family waiting for them in death, some spent a lot of time waiting in death for them but hoping as all good cats hoped that that day did not come quickly. Currentpaw seemed among that number.


For now Daisypool was inclined to look upon the tom favorably, though had some things she wished to have clarified.


"Im sorry your life has been so hard on you little one, you went before you time. However if its to reunite with your brother you seek why would you wish to be reincarnated, and not resurrected? When reincarnated you wont go back with your memories and there are many cats who went back by this method who never regain them. You'd be a whole new cat with just the same soul and theres no certainty that this new life would have the drive and desire to be with your brother as you do?


Why take that risk and not just resurrect instead, where you can be brothers again without the risk?"


This was the first thought that popped into the queens head and she loafed, head tilting as she waited for a response. There were more concerns here, like how Currentpaw didnt seem to have a life goal or real desire to live for himself or how he died and if he'd learnt to not repeat the mistakes that'd lead him here but she was sure the other wardens would handle that.

Coldamber listens from within the shadows as Currentpaw speaks, and then as Daisypool replies. She listens carefully to the other StarClan cat, and former queen.
She finds herself sharing the lilac point's statement, but finds herself feeling as if the young cat has been cheated. Not necessarily by life, but most certainly by her brother.
She knew the terrible, gnawing feeling of guilt to have made someone else mourn for you. Perhaps this was a common feeling for the departed, but something about the plea to return to soothe the ache of another fell too close to her own experience.
A miasma of mist surrounded the place at the queen's side, and coalesced into the shape of a cat, long bodied and fur like the mist she came from, eyes a vibrant shade of orange, and pink scars along her shoulders, and where her hind left leg had once been.

Coldamber watched Currentpaw for a moment before speaking.
"While I agree with Daisypool, I find your reason for returning of concern. Returning to ease the turmoil of another will bring you little satisfaction. What if your own desires and wishes?"
As she stares at the young cat before her, she cannot help but see her son in her. A situation so similar, a sibling left behind, left mourning and full of guilt. A sibling departed who took those feelings upon themself, for a fate that could have never been their fault, and burning with a desire to soothe a pain they believed to be their fault.
"You deserve to chase after your own dreams, Currentpaw. This burden on your shoulders was not meant for you to carry." She paused. As much as she felt compassion for the apprentice, she needed to remain practical.
"If your desire is to ease your brother's sorrows, I believe it may be best to walk at his side in his dreams, without the burdens and limitations of being alive. It is.... Simpler, and takes less time to find him this way."
She would be open to hearing other reasons for living a new life, but as they are, Coldamber believed there were better ways to resolve Currentpaw, and very well her brother's, guilt over the situation.
