"I see, that makes sense." Adderpaw hummed to herself as she brewed over what Eveningthaw had taught her. She didn't think about how much she relied on one of her senses, primarily sight. After the raid a few cats had lost an eye and now they had to rely on just one eye instead. Adderpaw didn't like the idea but maybe one day she would lose an eye as well. Also she now wanted to open her eyes in the ocean to see how much it really hurt.

Seeing the practice strike come for her, Adderpaw tried to jump back away from the attack out of a natural reaction before nearly losing her footing as she didn't expect how much the current would push her back. "Uh sorry..?" She said before going back up to Eveningthaw to get wacked again. Battle training was funny like that, going back up for more punishment willingly. Though when she was hit she lost her footing. Dragging her head out of the water with an annoyed expression she spoke. "Ok how do you stay up when everything is muddy." In all honestly Adderpaw was just annoyed she failed at something than getting hit.

"If you've got your paws on the ground, widen your stance," Eveningthaw explained, "Lower your body a bit, you want to be as sturdy and stable as possible. The last thing you want to do is tip and lose your balance. If you're swimming, you want to rock with the hits. Lean back when you're struck, lean forwards when you get a chance and put a weight into your parry. Use the water as a cushion and let it absorb most of the hit."

He demonstrated again with another few simple but strong baps to the shoulder.

Once she got the gist of that, he'd wade a little deeper, "And for full-on-swimming, stay afloat and rock with the punches. Got that?" He gave her a few moments to get her bearings before striking her again.

Adderpaw took in the battle tactics in as Eveningthaw told them to her. Midway through speaking them an epiphany hit Adderpaw as a new fighting tactic came to her mind. Perhaps someone had already done this but it didn't matter at all who done it first—What matter was that she now had a new move in her arsenal.

Adderpaw took a steady stance like she was told and gave a challenging smirk to Eveningthaw. "Hit me as hard as you can! Don't worry I won't cry if I topple over, if I do I got an idea I want to try out." She smirked loving a good challenge.

Eveningthaw raised a bemused brow, a slight smile tugging lopsided at his muzzle. Well, she was eager and a quick learner. "All-right, lets see what you've got, kid." he humoured her, raising a paw to bat her strongly on the shoulder- a lot more force than previously used. If the lass could come up with something new, that'd be a damn good sign.

Ok first, OUCH, but secondly it was time to enact her plan and see how well it went. She pretended to lose her purchase on the muddy ground of the river but this was all a ruse. She slipped into the water as she 'lost' her grip but once she was under water she used the temporary confusion to kick the ground as hard as she could. She used her strong kick and the river's current to send herself like a rocket to into Eveningthaw's legs. All in an attempt to knock him over. If she was successful then maybe she could use this move at a later moon.
