He should tell someone about it, shouldn't he?
Yes, he should.
And he knew exactly who to tell.
After all, she was the only cat he knew.

And... He was back again. The strange dreamy land he'd first met Sleepypaw. They hadn't been given the chance to talk long, but she was the only living cat he knew. It was fairly simple. Walk into Sleepypaw's dream, tell her he'd be coming back to life, and things will go all according to plan.

He expected Sleepypaw to be around somewhere.

It's been so long.

The name Sleepypaw didn't feel right anymore.

Why was that?

That strange, starry landscape enveloped her mind, warping darkness and nothingness into a peaceful sight. A soft breeze, a starlit sky, the soft twinkle of this world shaping a world she recognised from a dream, a dream she had moons ago. And that same kitten-sized cat… That same cat, she had seen moons ago, who felt so… Oddly familiar. As if she should know him. That cat, who shared a name with her brother, her littermate. The thought was still so foreign to her mind; she had been raised an only child, and when her younger siblings camecastill grew separated from them until apprenticeship. Daykit… Her brother’s name. And his name. She had to shake the thought aside, interrupted by her previous namesake.

‘’Sunrise.’’
She began,
‘’Sleepysunrise…’’
A pause.
‘’And you… Are Daykit.’’
A few words, and a silent question. What bode this second meeting of theirs?

So, she was finally here. And it was the right cat. Daykit felt relief wash over him. And-

What was that?

Sleepysunrise?

...

Was she not Sleepypaw when Daykit had first met her? Do the cats in the living world change their names? That didn't matter now.

"Sleepysunrise. That's your name. And yes, I am Daykit," Daykit started, making himself comfortable and sitting down, fluffy tail curling around his paws. "I've come again to tell you something quite important, I suppose."

It felt like he'd been here, in StarClan, for moons and moons. Maybe he was. Maybe he wasn't. It was hard to keep track of time here. The sun never rose nor set. Or at least that's what it felt like to him.

"As you know, I am dead. However. I will not be for long," Daykit wanted to keep it short, and straight to the point. "The Covenant of the Sky has approved of my wish of... 'returning' to the land of the living. And I would like to know of my returning. As I am fairly young, I will not be able to travel on my own."

He hoped it explained everything. Sleepysunrise seemed intelligent enough to understand such a simple thing. He didn't mind if she didn't. He wouldn't hate to repeat what he had said, for it brought him such joy, to know that he would be among the living, no longer clueless of where or what (who?) he was supposed to be.

Daykit, indeed. The silent molly blinked slowly, observing the starry patterns that coated his pelt, much unlike the white tufts of fur that protruded her own pelt as makeshift stars against her darkest of greys base. He sat, and the enforcer hesitated on doing the same was it not for the oh-so-important news to be shared, and the ethereal place they were in; besides, she had met him once, and Sleepysunrise’s knowledge on these places - though odd and limited - she had begun to understand was beyond the world of her own. Somehow these felines entered her dreamscape or, the darker ones, pulled her into their realm. A realm much unlike the one they were sitting in now, but peculiar all the same. She listened.

Dead… Was he dead? Perhaps she had never actually realised it. Perhaps the thought of communicating with the dead never had crossed her mind as a logical possibility, but if it were possible - if this was not a trick of her mind - what were the creatures of the darkest forest? But he moved on, speaking of a Sky Covenant. Whatever that was; perhaps a terms of rule, those who ruled the sky, the after life… Much like Miss Grandmama ruled ShadowClan. The… Afterlife. Where her brother, her littermate, resided. Where, perhaps, her papa resided too. And Daykit, somehow, wished to return from this afterlife she knew so little about. It sounded fantastical, almost. But how could she know this was true?

‘’Where?’’
Was all she finally asked, looking up from the star-covered ground to the kitten facing her, boring her eyes into his strangely familiar ones. A simple query, if his words rang truth, where would he be returning? And when?
