Sparks Fly [Poem]
Sparks don't have to be yellow to be considered sparks.
Sparks can be purble and green,
Black and blue,
White and pink.
That is how sparks fly.
Sparks aren't restricted to one color.
One color means one meaning,
One meaning means one purpose.
There is never just one color,
Never just one meaning,
Never just one purpose, because when sparks fly,
They fly wild.
I have been shut down,
I have been opressed,
I have been bullied,
I have even been hunted,
Because I allow my sparks to fly.
I live in a world where one color is the norm,
Where one meaning is the usual,
Where one purpose is the requirement.
They say they believe in unity.
They say they believe in equality.
But their definition of unity is not peace,
And their definition of equality is not equal rights.
They use those words to cover up the truth,
That what they really think is that they are above all,
That what they rule by is truly oppression.
But I, I believe in freedom,
And my sparks are going to fly.
They patrol the streets at midnight.
They act as if they are protecting us,
But they are truly guarding us,
Watching us,
Preparing to destroy us at the smallest sign of difference.
I cannot afford to be seen,
Cannot afford to be found.
And so I am not seen, and I am not found,
As I make my escape under the cover of darkness,
And prepare to let my sparks fly.
It is towering,
It is imperious,
It is never-ending.
But I must climb,
And as I slowly rise,
The tears quickly fall,
Because with freedom comes sacrifice,
And with sacrifice, sparks can fly.
She is here.
She has been expecting me.
She knows why I have come.
She tries to disaude me,
To stop me from tearing down Her perfect empire.
But I cannot be stopped,
For I have a mission,
And that mission is my life,
So we clash,
And sparks fly.
She holds me over the edge.
I have failed, and She has won.
They will never see true freedom,
Never know the exhileration of being individuals.
Perhaps it was a stroke of luck,
Or Her overconfidence that made it so.
But She slipped,
And She fell,
And I rose to power.
But all good things must come to an end.
I held that power for maybe a moment,
But a moment was all that was needed.
Before they could burst through the door,
And finish what She had failed to accomplish,
I turned,
And I fell.
That night, my sparks flew,
And the very next day,
So did everyone else's.
good lord this took forever and it is SO LONG but its totally worth it because this is probably my proudest achievement in life *inhale* please help me im sobBING
