Being disappointed was an understatement. How on earth could Thunderclan stand on it’s paws if some of their warriors didn’t even bother to show up for patrols? Not that she’d express such a thought aloud. Thunderclan had a lot of capable warriors, some just… Failed to apply themselves, it seems.
“Oh, you don’t have to thank me, Springpaw.” Drizzlecloud sent a similar smile to the molly, affectionate and friendly. No matter how frustrated she was about the lack of appearance from the two other cats that she had assigned to this patrol, there was no point in lingering on such emotions. Here they were now, completing the patrol on their own time. She was just glad that Springpaw hadn’t decided to go out on her lonesome. “I’ll always be happy to accompany you, wherever that may be.”
She didn’t linger on her words, no matter the weight that they may have held. Although she said it so nonchalantly, she meant it. Springpaw was her apprentice, the only one that she had ever had. The first that she had been entrusted with. She held a very special place in her heart.
“Ah, catmint… I hope we can find some out here.” Drizzlecloud murmured as she dragged her deep green gaze away from her apprentice, instead searching the border’s territory for the lovely scented herb.

Fernwillow lead her patrol out towards the Smallpines, keeping an eye out for the plants Drizzlecloud had described. Once the clearing came into view, she turned to her clanmates. "Alright. Drizzlecloud said to stay away from the border as much as possible. Why don't we split up and meet back here? B-but don't go too far." She didn't want anyone getting harassed by the RiverClan cats across the creek.
[Shall we use a post order? Maybe Fern, Red, and then Daylight?]
Trotting behind the other warrior, letting her gaze wander around at the leaf-bare territory, Redhawk's gaze snapped to attention when Fernwillow began to speak. She was hesitant about splitting up, but figured they were far enough from the border that they wouldn't be met with any hostility. "Yes, not t-too far. And y-yowl if you n-need help?" Still it felt wrong leaving Daylightpaw to go off by herself. "Maybe you s-should go with one o-of u-us, just inc-case?" She was on the younger side, after all. Her gaze flickered to Fernwillow, hoping she would be in agreement.

Her mentor’s gratitude was more than enough to slide a more comforting smile onto Springpaw’s lips, the young calico sincerely nodding along with her mentor’s words. “Of… course… Drizzlecloud… I’m sure… you’d always… be the one… that I can… count on… the most for… in case… no cat bothers… to show up… for patrols…” Springpaw felt an affectionate purr escape past her lips, not bothering to hide the affection that was casting itself among her. The arrival of Smallpine’s was enough to make her smile draft away slightly, overtaken by slight turmoil as her paws compressed themselves against the coarse soil of which was colder than thick ice. They should probably not stay here for too long, as Springpaw wouldn’t want to be accompanied by any potential threats of RiverClan hanging over their shoulders for whatever reason.
“Maybe… we will find… catnip… but… given that… it’s turning… colder… by the… passing… second… that may… not be… likely,” Springpaw half-heartedly mumbled the words beneath her breath, lightly nosing around the reeds to pick out any herbs that stumbled into sight. Thankfully, a small cluster of both marigold and yellowbells caught the young healer’s eye, making her giddily gather up the small portions of herbs before turning her attention back towards Drizzlecloud to see her mentor’s findings.

Fernwillow’s ears burned in embarrassment. Of course, why did she think it was a good idea to split up and leave the apprentice on their own? She nodded along to Redhawk’s suggestions, looking grateful and a little embarrassed. “That’s a great idea. Daylightpaw, go with Redhawk. Since you two have done patrols together in the past, I think it would be beneficial for you to work together again.” She turned to go, then called over her shoulder. “Oh and please, be careful what plant leaves you bite… I don’t want anyone getting poisoned on this patrol. If it looks like borage, then you can bite it to make sure. Just be careful.”
Amberwing followed behind quickly, marking any spot she could to keep the boundaries clear as possible. She didn't want to do a sloppy job just because they were tight on time, sniffing the air for any hints of cats that shouldn't be there. She was satisfied with what she smelled, at least, and nodded to the others.
