Power Card: Cold Gust

Oh dear starclan Blazingstar actually hated Crowtooth and the warrior had no clue what he'd done to make him so mad. After all, you had to actually legitimately hate someone to task them with Firestorm's safety because Firestorm didnt just dislike safety, they actively ran from it. Keeping an eye on Firestorm entailed following her into whatever disaster she's caused and the exhausted tom would just rather nap please.


But no, he had tasking now and with a tired resigned sigh Crowtooth nodded "Ill do my best but she aint the type ta do well wit' mindin'. I can make excuses ta be around though, so I hope that works." Not that his efforts would mean anything in the end, as the consequences for her ill decisions came for her in a way none could stop. Still, he would and did try.


Then he was offered a boon, and black ears twitched up as the toms mind raced for what he might say. He could ask for something and stars was there so much he wanted. He wanted Twilightstar and Lightningstorm to know just how much they were not abandoned and be supported, he wished for guidance on where his life was going, he wished for special skills from a cat as monumental as Blazingstar to help his clan. But..... These asks were either going to be fulfilled in some way, not for him, or too simple in a way.

The tom had a greater ask that had been tormenting him for so long he couldnt resist.


"Ah, well I do 'ave somethin' thats been itchin' me...." A deep wheezing breath in. "It was years ago now but Ive been here before in a way. I-I died sir, tearin' out Dawnstars throat an' havin' mine taken out in turn. But I woke again, alive wit' no memory o' how an', as Id come ta discover, a power ta boot."


Crowtooths eyes were slightly desperate. "I need ta know why. Why me an' not others, how even, is there a purpose behind this i-it torments me. I know that while starclans all knowin' cats aint so I get if ya cant tell me everythin' but if ya could even tell me a hint I'd be grateful."


Though perhaps the tom would be less grateful when he had his answers, as core shaking and unanswering as they are.

The interesting thing about the request and question was that Blazingstar wasn't quite sure how to answer that for the warrior. He didn't have a say in the matter and honestly, this sounded like it happened while he was fairly inactive amongst the stars. That was his own fault. Sure, he had his own knowledge from things he's discovered here and things he'd overheard, but nothing specifically about Crowtooth.

So, the fluffy feline tapped his tail on the ground for a moment before releasing a small sigh. Alright. Here goes nothing. He had to get some answers from the warrior first.

"What's uh- what's this power you're talking about?" Blazingstar inquired. He had forgotten about the powers some cats were bestowed. This was the second cat to approach him about their power and the purpose. Perhaps, this would be the way to start searching for answers. Why some cats and why not others?

"Let's start there. You can demonstrate it if describing it is too complicated."

Power Card: Cold Gust

The idea that Blazingstar didnt know everything and needed some more information was a little odd to Crowtooth, a clash of reality and his own worship of starclan in his mind, but it was one quickly dismissed. Starclan just had to function in a way Crowtooth wasnt meant to understand and shouldnt question, so he didnt and instead just nodded.


"It aint that complex really. I can kinda control wind, though if I do too much I get really tired. But really I havent been experimentin' as much as I can, suppose Im a bit wary o' it given I could easily hurt or kill a cat if I dont have a firm control over it, especially given so much about it is unknown ta me....


Guess we can try an' fix that now!"
His rasping was more chipper now, wide crooked grin over his muzzle as he padded a few steps away to show the tom.


The tunneler kept it simple, spreading out is stance before drawing in the power he'd grown used to have lingering around him, fur growing cold as the frigid wind chilled his pelt. He let it build and build before he unleashed it, flattening the celestial grass around him in a sharp gust of wind. It was oddly cold given how temperate the air had been so far and the wind really did come from Crowtooth and was gone as quickly as it came as soon as he let go of the power. Frankly the gust he unleashed wasnt even as strong as it could be even as it crushed the long grass and knocked down the nearest small bush, but the tunneler still seemed proud of it, looking at Blazingstar almost expectantly.


A power from starclan, somehow, all Crowtooths own. He was as chuffed with it as he was worried over why he was given it in equal measure.



How crushed he'd be by reality.

"Interesting. I'm sure this'll be fun," the tone was optimistic. Surely this power wasn't has bad or uncontrolled as the Tunneler was suggesting. StarClan would let him yield such things, right? Surely.

Eager to experience the power Crowtooth had mentioned, Blazingstar took a step back. It was instinctual still to heed another's warnings despite the lack of harm it could cause here -- or so he thought.

The next sensation to hit him was an overwhelming electricity flying through his pelt. A zap to his reality that rocked him on his paws, literally. Blazingstar stumbled backwards, his eyes widening with horror. A shock to his spirit at the realization this warrior must be a traitor within the stars. There was a darker energy behind that power. That was not fully StarClan's gift. Crowtooth would be a fool to think he'd believe that!

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" an authoritative bark. A warning. His claws sank deep into the dirt below him, almost as if he had to find balance with what he'd just experienced. He almost did a double take to ensure no one else sensed that, but they were in a dream. They were safe here, at least for now.

Speaking of dreams. An angry Blazingstar caused the winds to shift around them. Pick up into gusts that twisted through his long pelt and threatened to shove Crowtooth to the ground to keep him grounded and far enough away from the former leader to defend himself. "You come to these grounds speaking highly of us, telling me you got these powers from StarClan only to threaten us with such dark energy! You must be a fool to think I'd believe that story! What Dark Forest cat sent you?!

How dare you!"

Blazingstar needed names. He needed descriptions. He needed begging and pleading, anything if Crowtooth didn't want to walk away damned by the stars. Or at least damned by Blazingstar.

His searing eyes wouldn't waver as he awaited his answers.

Oh, how things were going to escalate from here.

Power Card: Cold Gust

Eager excitement to share a gift, a rising hope for answers long denied and perhaps pride from someone Crowtooth so respected was quickly dashed by the celestial toms roar.



The tunneler jolted, power cutting short as his eyes blew wide and he flinched back, cowering even as he found the move unnatural to his own character and large battle scarred form. Crowtooth didnt cower, but felt little other option when faced with starclans wrath and hunched low to the starry moor grass, wishing the ground would open up to take him. Even if he didnt know why and how he'd enraged the leader so the earth and all below it was safe to Crowtooth, made sense when all else didnt and he wished for it right now.


So he cowered low, laid flat as his face was blank of all but shock and fear, reeling in his confusion.


"W-what d'ya mean? I was showin' ya the power like ya wanted sir. I dont understand what Ive done wrong, Im sorry! I-I'd never threaten ya or any starclan cat, why would I do that?!? D-dark energy?" His words were honest and broken and upset and lost in all this, fur spiked up like the large senior warrior was a kitten again, facing a different leaders wrath at a mistake he'd made he didnt understand.


"Ive never met any dark forest cat! I never would, I hate those wretches theyre pathetic wastes who deserve their fate an' meetin' ya is the only time Ive ever met the dead!" Something in the toms words were hurt and offended at the mere implication, before the tom went stricken as he came to a realization.


He didnt remember everything. Both his resurrection and life contained gaps were anything could have happened, and it seemed where something did happen.





The realization, one Blazingstar could easily follow from what he'd been told, rocked Crowtooth to his core as he fell silent eyes filling with horror at the thought. His power, the one he'd been so proud of and assumed to be starclan blessed was looking to be anything but. The skunk striped tom never would have accepted it had he known, not that he'd been given a choice in accepting it given he didnt remember getting it, and wouldnt have used it either. But he had and now a small shake formed in his core, breathing taking a pained cast as bile rose in his throat as the tom was forced to wonder if that unknowing act had tainted his very soul.


Crowtooth was a pious cat, thanking starclan for every meal and keeping to the code of the stars, so the thought of disgracing them even unintentionally sickened him. The tom gagged, forcing down the feelings of illness even as tears stung his eyes and he started to hyperventilate, truely starting to panic, as he spiraled further. He'd been so sure, so very sure, of the purity of his second chance and the righteousness of his actions but could good truely come from a chance given by darkness? What if everything he'd done had been made in shadow despite his intentions and so had only brought suffering.


One realization lead to another, that his power was 'darkened' somehow and so too must his resurrection be (because it had to be, right?) and the toms life (a lie, he was learning) feel appart in its path.


In the wake of that even Blazingstar felt small, the tom falling to the background static of Crowtooths panic as the tunneler hunched against the dirt he suddenly wished he was buried in. Buried after dying permenatly to Dawnstar with honor, rather then being tainted by whatever this was that'd come after.
