The former ThunderClan apprentice knew it was a bit odd she was about to give a life to a ShadowClan cat, but StarClan had no borders. Once the next cat was done, Fernpaw rose to her paws and padded forward lightly. She looked almost graceful, stars gliding through her fur as she came forward to the ShadowClan deputy... Soon to be leader. The light ginger apprentice smiled at him, stopping in front of the Tom.

"Greetings, Goldeneye." She mewed clearly, her eyes sparkling with stars as she tipped her head back to gaze up at him. Her expression was gentle, welcoming. "I am Fernpaw - Former ThunderClan apprentice. I died in the fire a long time ago." Her eyes trailed behind him now, seeing something, remembering something, but flashed back to his face in a second. "It's a pleasure to meet you," She purred, before reaching up to touch her nose to his.

"I give you the life of Bravery." She murmured. "Leading will be scary sometimes. But remember... Being brave doesn't mean you don't get afraid. It just means you have the courage to keep pushing through the fear." With that, Fernpaw drew back, and lowered her head respectfully. "Lead well, Goldeneye." She said gently, before turning and padding back to the group, settling down again and curling her starry tail around her paws to watch the rest of the ceremony.
Goldeneye was quiet, watching as the next cat came out of the ranks. It was amazing how all of them knew when it was their turn. However, that left him thinking about other things such as-how did they get chosen? Who is in charge of Starclan? He knew there were no borders, but still. Someone had to be in charge right? How would leaders get their lives from certain cats then, and not have a bunch of different cats stumbling over each other? Or did they just talk and say 'Okay, you'll go, and then they'll go, and then they'll go'? Was that something he really should be pondering right now? He would find out soon enough he guessed. He dipped his head slightly as the she-cat stopped, a silent greeting from him.

Then the life came along. He hadn't been able to tell that this she-cat was an apprentince, but now he knew. He felt the same thing he had felt when looking at Larkkit for the first time, just with the pain dulled down slightly. He still felt bad however, despite knowing he couldn't have done anything, even if he had wanted to. He didn't comment on it, letting the apprentince touch her nose to his, and felt the life flow into him. He didn't know how to describe this life really, so he wasn't even going to try. Bravery. That was something he had really needed. He still kind of needed it too. When Fernpaw moved away, he listened to her quietly. "Thank you," he murmured. He was going to be saying thank you a lot today, wasn't he? Well, he might as well get used to it. Two more. It was hard to believe it was almost over, trying not to get lost in his own thoughts and questions as he waited for the next cat.

(apologies for this being so late! just got settled in California~)

As her new starry Clanmates all went before her, each of them passing on the life the held within them, Cricketpaw sat nervous, ears twitching as waves of anxiety rolled over her. She hadn't been in StarClan that long it felt, and definitely not long enough to be given the honor to attend a leaders' ceremony. It wasn't just that she was a former RiverClan cat giving a life to future ShadowClan leader - given the two Clans history, it seemed unprecedented - but the fact that she just had absolutely no idea what to do. Her heart beat rapidly in her chest, a loud thumping that she was sure every cat in StarClan and beyond could hear. Just breath, she reminded herself, and her blue eyes seemed to clear just a bit.

The former medicine cat apprentice watched as Fernpaw exited the clearing, leaving Goldeneye searching for the next cat to give him a life. Praying that no mistakes were made since the ceremony was so close to being over, Cricketpaw rose to her paws and slid forward, her movements fluid as she appeared in the light shrouded clearing. "Greetings," she began, dipping her head as a sign of respect to the new ShadowClan warrior. She didn't know much of him, but sincerely hoped that he wouldn't carry Halestar's resentment towards her father's Clan. "My name is Cricketpaw. I am the former medicine cat apprentice of RiverClan." There was much more she wanted to say, to tell him, but her blue eyes just shimmered as she stood facing the larger tom.

"With this life, I give you the willingness to understand. May you use it to see the eyes through every member of your Clan, and beyond." A moment of silence hung between them before the young Bengal stretched her neck forward lightly touching her nose to his. She felt the flow of energy travel through her body and surging into Goldeneye's own. The transfer of the life left her a feeling of relief, but she knew it wouldn't be the same story for Goldeneye. Understanding what each Clan member was going through at any given time was a difficult task - the pain, anguish, joy, ambition, all these emotions occupied various thoughts of multiple ShadowClanners. All she hoped was that he would be able to learn to understand each cat he came across.

What had felt like moons was over in a matter of a few heartbeats, and soon Cricketpaw found herself dipping her head before retreating into the shadows. Her duty was done, her life given to Goldeneye. The rush of adrenaline felt as though it had poured out of her, clinging to the life that had resided within her, only to be passed to Goldeneye. She finally felt as though she could breath a sigh of relief, and once again settled into her place amongst her ancestors, patiently watching the closing moments of the ceremony.

Goldeneye was silent once again. That had happened a lot during this cerimony. It wasn’t exactly out of the ordinary of him, and it probably wasn’t even out of the ordinary for ceremonies. He watched the next cat come out of the starry ranks, and, automatically, something clicked in his mind. He could remember this cat. It was...Cricketpaw, right? She had been the Riverclan apprentince when Shadowclan had first arrived in Riverclan. He didn’t know when she had died, or anything like that, and now he felt somewhat bad. Well...what if this wasn’t Cricketpaw? Imagine how awkward that would make this whole thing.

His thoughts were confirmed when Cricketpaw spoke up. He listened to her speak in pure silence. He was basically holding his breath. He wished he knew what to say. He wished he knew how she was already in Starclan. Well, maybe eventually he would learn that. But for now, however, he just listened. He was sightly disappointed when she stopped talking for the first time. It was somewhat obvious to him that she wanted to say more. However, she didn’t, so Goldeneye remained silent for the time being.

Once again, his thoughts drifted to wondering what all the other leaders’ ceremonies were like. However, that didn’t really matter right now. He let the life flow into him, trembling slightly as he felt a rush of adrenaline. Adrenaline. That was an almost new feeling for him. He had only really felt it during the flood. It had only been about a moon ago, yet, here he was, now a leader. It felt weird that Halestar wasn’t going to come back with Shadowclan. However, a leader had to do what he had to do he supposed, as hesitant as he might be to do it.

One last life. One last one. Then it would be official. He wanted to hide the trembling, but it was there, one last cat. He had to steady his breathing, looking through the ranks silently, unsure of what else to say or do currently.

Crimsontiger stood silently, blending in amongst the other starry pelts. She watched the whole ceremony without her expression changing once. Her face didn't shift into an expression of sympathy when the pain hit him, and neither did she look relieved when he was fine again. Her emotions were seemingly gone for the present moment.
Crimsontiger remembered watching the last five leaders who had been in this cave. She had been at each ceremony to give a life. She still remembered giving Halestar her life. And now it was her successor's turn. As Cricketpaw was walking back, the young former warrior rose to her paws.

Crimsontiger had died when she was only 13 moons of age, a newly named warrior. Yet she was wise beyond her years. When she was still alive she had been reckless and loud. Now she was quiet and smart. Waving her tail as if she were dismissing her thoughts, she stepped forward from the ranks of StarClan. "Greetings Goldeneye," Crimsontiger said, dipping her head as a sign of respect. "I'm Crimsontiger. A former ShadowClan warrior," She continued, giving the tom a small smile. The way she spoke and acted was a little strange to see at first. Someone who looked so young was acting so respectful. She was very doubtful that she would've been this respectful if she was still alive.

"With this life, I give you confidence. Have confidence in StarClan to guide you, and confidence in your clan mates to stand beside you no matter what," She said. "But most importantly, have confidence in your ability to lead," Crimsontiger said. With that, she touched her nose to the tom's, feeling the life run through her and transferring into him. She knew that it would hurt, but there was nothing she could really do about that. "Lead ShadowClan well, Goldenstar," She said, giving him a smile, one that was bigger than the other one. With nothing else left to do, she turned around and padded back, blending in amongst the starry pelts.

There was one last life to be given. Goldeneye was actually somewhat surprised to see Crimsontiger. However, he didn’t show it, as he didn’t want to appear rude. What had he been expecting? He didn’t know really, maybe a past leader or something. Well, either way, he didn’t mind. This cat seemed pretty serious in a way, and it almost put the new leader off guard. The tabby tom decided to stop jumbling his thoughts with apologies he would never say aloud, and decided to listen to Crimson instead. He was silent as Crimson gave her life, it was something he really needed. Confidence. He had needed that for a long while. He listened, and then let the life flow into him. It was not that different from the other lives, but there was still pain ripping through him. Well, maybe ripping wasn’t the right word, that made it sound really horrible. It was just...painful.

As soon as the life was gone, Golden murmured “Thank you” unsure of what else to say. Soon, everything vanished, and he was back at the starstone. Goldenstar. That was what he was now. He was the leader of Shadowclan. He was quiet for a moment. Well, he was quiet for much more than a moment. Suddenly, he was wondering if Daypaw had been with him. He started to glance around, unsure of whatever to do, the leader quietly sitting down next to the stone to ponder things for awhile.

Daypaw hadnt seen the actual ceremony, not wanting to sleep or even face starclan period. But out of respect, they had came to support their new leader. no diss to Haletstar, but daypaw had always felt more comfortable with goldenstar anyway. They had an idea of what the leader ceremony was, hearing from the other medcats. They gazed around the starcave, amber hues in slits, tail twitching. it made them uncomfortable to even be here. they could be at home, healing cats that needed it, working with acornfall and his exercises, helping pinewhisker with his broken leg treatments. so no, they would not sleep alongside goldenstar for his ceremony and face the same group of cats that had gave them their sleeping problems in the first place. They saw Goldenstar awake and hey greeted him with a small hello. they hoped goldenstar would not question they they werent seen in the leader ceremony.

Once Goldenstar had finally recovered slightly, he saw Daypaw and stiffened for a moment. He had been slightly surprised to see the medicine cat sitting there. He had forgotten that they had came with him in the first place. Maybe that was a bad thing actually. He didn’t want to be rude, in case Daypaw had a strained relationship with Starclan, but curiosity overcame him and he asked “Why weren’t you there?” He felt slightly awkward now, but he knew that the question would probably eat him from the inside out if he didn’t ask it. He felt somewhat bad at the same time, but he guessed there was no going back now. He just thought that medicine cats sort of watched the cerimony. Then again, he could be wrong, and maybe that didn’t happen. He really needed to stop second-guessing himself now. He would rather just wait for Daypaw’s response, that would probably calm him down quite a bit for the time being, even though an anxiety attack always seemed just around the corner.

Daypaw eyed the leader for a second, amber hues in slits at the mere question. Them not being there was in no way trying to disrespect their new leader. What they were protesting against was Starclan. they would refuse to even step foot into the place unless it was the last option they had. they could sense the nervousness on the tom, practically could taste it. They were his medicine cat, it was easy to sense things like that. but when asked a question they wouldn't hesitate to tell the truth and give their complete answer. ¨I do not wish to visit Starclan unless absolutely necessary;not that your ceremony wasnt important. Id rather avoid walking in the same poxsimity of cats who play god.¨ their tone was calm and collected, but had an edge to it; a warning to not press further. Daypaw knew Goldenstar didnt know about their nightmares, and they honestly didnt trust him to share about those yet. He was their leader, but would have to gain his medicine cats trust. Wrapping their tail neatly around their paws at they sat, they gazed around the starcave, memories of their apprentice ceremony here. That had been awhile ago, now here they were giving their leader their title. ¨How do you feel?¨

Goldenstar listened as Daypaw responded, trying not to flinch as he heard the edge to their voice. He wondered what made the medicine cat that way, however, he wasn’t going to ask that aloud. Daypaw was allowed to have their own opinion, and he didn’t really have the authority to do something like that. Well, he supposed he kind of did, but that wasn’t what he wanted to do with his authority. That Made it all sound stupid, but, of course, he wasn’t going to admit that. Cats were allowed to have their own opinions, sure, it might not be a good opinion, but they still were allowed to have one. When Daypaw asked him how he was feeling, he had to reel back a bit and think about himself. That was when it came down to two different things for him. It was either lie about how he was feeling, or be honest. How did he feel? Like he was being slowly crushed by a tree. Did he really want to say that though? He decided he didn’t want to, and ended up just saying “Not that different, honestly,” he said, almost forcing out the words in a sort of way, yet it still sounded like he wasn’t lying, looking at Daypaw calmly now.

He decided he didn’t want to, and ended up just saying “Not that different, honestly,” he said, almost forcing out the words in a sort of way, yet it still sounded like he wasn’t lying, looking at Daypaw calmly now.
the medicine cat raised a brow,¨youve acted like i dont know what a leader ceremony is like. gaining eight more lives takes it out of you, i can feel your discomfort from here.¨ the enby replied bluntly. it was hard to get things past daypaw. maybe it was a sixth sense, maybe it was the observant nature of being a medcat, but they knew goldenstar was feeling anything but ¨indifferent¨, bull crap. They stood up now, giving a small stretch. this was the first step for shadowclan. after this, they would be walking back home to their own territory. it would be a new chapter of rebuilding. they could remember what it was like to take kestrelberrys place. perhaps it was sort of like a new start for both of them. they walked towards the leader, leaning forward and pressing a lick to the toms head. geckoleaf said that was a thing they had to do after ceremonies like this or something, weird. but they did it anyway, licking the leaders forehead and pulling away. ¨Youre now Goldenstar, leader of Shadowclan,¨ it was a rarity, but daypaw smiled. a small, crooked but genuine one. ¨lets go home, ill get you some prey and herbs that will make you feel slightly better.¨
