"Sir, yes sir." she replied, tone teasing a lighthearted as she trailed along beside the tom. She was going to put everything she could into their training together. She needed to prove herself - prove that she could do more than sit around the den all day. Prove that she was more than the deputy's ditzy little apprentice. Prove to herself that she could sleep at night again someday - that the dark wasn't so scary. Maybe she could do that with her training.

Coldsong led Yewpaw all the way down to the stream that ran through WindClan territory, then finally halted. "Alright," he turned to face his apprentice, "we'll train here today. Adapting your training to different environments is important. You can be attacked anywhere at any time."

He slowly began circling Yewpaw. "Now, when it comes to defending yourself, there are a few main parts of your body that must be protected at all costs. Do you know what those parts are?" His eyes were sharp and quizzical as he circled her, though he waited patiently, hoping her answer to be genuine.

She gave a small smile, glancing around in search of Leappaw and Hickoryfeather before following her mentor towards the training moor.

Mistfur looked up from where she sat she saw Bettleclaw approaching her. "I believe so." She answered the toms question. @Quailsong

She then turned towards her apprentice. "That was a wonderful catch! Goood job Moonpaw!" The she cat praised her apprentice. @Echobreeze18

Once they arrived at the training moor, Coldsong took a seat in the center of it, eyes narrowing on his student as she followed after him.

Still no sign of Hickoryfeather or Leappaw...

"Alright, since it seems to be just you and me," Coldsong began, quickly switching into a battle stance, "we shall begin immediately." The warrior gave a subtle nod for Yewpaw to copy him.

"As a WindClanner, we pride ourselves on speed. While everyone's fighting style is different, we lean more toward quick and flighty attacks. We strike without warning and move like the wind." Without warning, Coldsong suddenly dashed around to Yewpaw's backside and swiped at her legs, aiming to sweep her off her paws.

Cherrypaws eyes went wide with panic as she dashed after the little molly, It didn't take the russet apprentice long to catch up, "sparrowpaw, Im soooo sorry!" she squeaked, cherrypaw wrapped herself around sparrowpaw in a hug, she wasn't even sure why she cared that much, she didn't care about anyone else till this moment...why?

The apprentice listened intently to his words, nodding quietly to acknowledge him. Different environments. Right. The next comment made her skin crawl - attacked anywhere? Any time? She shuddered as he began to circle - doing her best to shove down the growing anxiety.

"Um..." The sound came out strangled, barely a word at all. It felt as if there was a stone in her throat. Her thoughts were wandering back to the raid despite her best efforts. Back to the sights of clanmates blooded - injured or dead. She hated it, shaking the images out of her head. Safe. You're here. Not there. You're safe. Safe safe safe. "Belly." she began again, "And throat." THose were wounds you didn't recover from. "Right?"

Yewpaw dropped into the best battle stance she could imitate, though she was obviously shaky and unbalanced. Focused on her mentor's words, she was wholly caught off guard by his sudden movements and fell to the dirt with a small squeak. Her shoulder was already hitting the ground by the time she knew what had happened.

"Right..." she groaned, climbing to her paws, "Got it."
