Perhaps during the attack, Birch called out Holly's name on surprise/confusion or something, so when Fennec joins, she's on the lookout for a "Hollystrike" until someone tells her Holly's "dead"? Fennec might have some suspicions about Honey up until that moment, then dismiss them because everyone says that she's wrong, there's proof that she's wrong, and if all cats who shared the same fur color were secretly the same being, the world would be a much more bemusing place.

If he did get amnesia like Beau suggested, maybe he would recognize Fennec, but only after a while. Or if the amnesia is too bad, then he won’t. Whatever you guys want to do.

Birch doesn’t need to have amnesia actually because Hollystrike has changed her appearance and name so he may have suspicions but wouldn’t know for sure.

As for Fen- she may get flashes of a cat who looked similar to Honeypool in her memory that might lead her to feel uneasy around her but I like the idea of her being on the lookout for Hollystrike until realizing she is dead. She’s def have a hard time believing that Honeypool is somehow secretly Hollystrike lol

It would be rather interesting if Honey and Fen met early on, both oblivious as to who the other was. Fen's teasing ferocity might impress Honey, and they could bond a bit, perhaps? Fen's at the age that Honey wouldn't really try manipulating her outright, though she might try twisting things in her favor. Honey could be her "guide to clan life"? Since she was an outsider for some time, she doesn't have a burning hatred of them. Her obsession with Birchwind is still there, albeit toned down, and she still thinks she's the best... but her extreme clan loyalty makes her willing to submit to any high rank, so it could be worse. For even more confusion, Honey could receive Fen as her apprentice to get her mind off things since her last one, Tidepaw, was/will be executed. Of course, that all depends on the outcome of their first interaction.

Plus, Fen is ‘dating’ ghostwriter’s Falconglare who is really tough and has already offered to murder the cat who killed Fen’s parents lmao
