Re: RiverClan Training Island
Quickly Finchpaw did as she instructed, laying on her back, her feet tucked in prepared for Cobaltshade's weight. There was a rock digging in to her shoulder but she tried not to focus on that, at any minute Cobaltshade could leap, and if she wasn't prepared, that wouldn't be good so she braced herself listening for any movement @ The Cannibal

Goosepaw floundered his way onto the sand, thoroughly soaked and once again gasping for breath. Swimming to the island was more than difficult for him, and the only good thing about the water he could think of at that moment was the fact that it had washed the scent of mouse bile from his fur.
He splayed out on his side on the shore, watching the water ripple across the horizon as he waited for Ravenmist.

Ravenmist swam through the thick water, her legs pumping strongly. Slowly, she made her way to the shore, her pelt thoroughly soaked. She pulled herself onto the shore, gasping for breath. "Whew! That was some swim, eh?" Ravenmist was hoping he had forgotten the story she had promised earlier. Ravenmist smiled guiltily at the apprentice.

"You can say that again!" He rolled over onto his stomach, looking up at Ravenmist with sparkling eyes. His tail smacked the sand repeatedly, sending up small clouds as he grinned at her. "So what about that story, huh? About your warrior name and everything.

Ravenmist looked away, her face tightening in embarrassment. " W-what story?"
(Aah! So sorry for shortness >~<)

His grin fell, and he slowly got to his paws, a confused expression clouding his features. "The- the story you said you were going to tell me," he said. "About how you got your warrior name. Remember?" He crept around to sit next to her, leaning into her side. Sitting he barely reached her shoulder, and he let his head rest on her shoulder. "Please?" He sounded like a kit begging for a story from the elders, but it was the only idea he had.

Ravenmist flattened her ears, her cheeks flushing. " Fine." She sat down comfortably, gesturing for the apprentice to do the same. " ..."

He plopped down next to her, ears perked forward. He realized that the idea of talking about it made her uncomfortable, but he felt like he needed to know. Maybe it would give him some ideas for his own name, when the time came. He was certainly close to his ceremony, and he was drawing a blank for even the faintest idea of a name.

Ravenmist drew in a deep breath of air. Here goes. "A long time ago, when I was an apprentice, I had gone hunting with my mentor and a few other warriors. We had caught lots of prey and were heading back to camp. It was getting late, and a thick mist had spread across the ground. That made me quite nervous since it partially blinded my sight, so I stuck close to my mentor. But suddenly, a fox had burst right in front of us. We hadn't seen or smelled it through the mist, so we were quite surprised when it came in front of us. And it was hungry. My mentor told me to run back to camp and get more warriors, so I obeyed. Now, this was really scary to me, running through the fog and not being able to see anything."
"So I ran faster, trying to ignore my fear. The fox seemed to be far behind, but then again, so was my mentor. That fear pushed me harder, and so I ran. And ran. And ran. Faster and faster. Eventually I reached the camp and hurriedly told the leader and all the warrior about the fox. So, I lead them through the mist, straight to the fox who had been seriously scratched by my mentor. Unfortuneatly, so was she. She was very tired, and looked very relieved when the warriors turned up and fought of the fox. So, the next sunrise, I earned my warrior name, Ravenmist, in honor of that night where I conquered my fear and saved my mentor."
Ravenmist let out a breath of air. "So, how was the story?"

Goosepaw stared blankly ahead, though he was listening intently as he sunk into Ravenmist's side. The story sparked something in his chest. Hope? Desire? Admiration? Maybe all of those. He glanced over at her as she finished. "Well, that wasn't so bad," he commented. "I mean, from the way you were acting, I thought somebody had died or something. But it all turned out all right. Right?" He glanced down at his paws, where he had been absentmindedly pushing sand into a small pile. "It was a brave thing to do, right? Both smart and brave. I... I wish I was both of those, y'know?"
