She rolled her eyes. "I wonder how that'll turn out." She mewed, fluffing out her pelt again to warm the tiny bundle.
"My parents will be furious," Echoskip giggled. "They'll rattle their old bones and complain about sharing the space with a bunch of otters." She licked Moonsplash's nose again, eyes bright and sparkling. "It wouldn't be terrible. Geckoleaf is very experienced, and with Daypaw alongside her I don't have to worry about my kits being born in all this mud." She stuck out her tongue. "Although, Ebonymist's father lives in RiverClan... I wonder how she'll feel about having to talk to him again. She avoids the Gatherings like they're the plague because she worries about meeting her father." Echoskip mused, finished with grooming the small kit and now just licking her fur to keep her warm. Her eyes landed on the same cat she had just spoken of, climbing up the hill with Lucky on her back and helping Daypaw with getting their patients out of the den. Echoskip admired Ebonymist a great deal- the RiverClan warrior was brave and didn't hesitate to help others. They were alike, in a way. They both had a bit of a fiery temper, yet were gentle and caring when it was needed. Watching the orange and black cat struggle to keep her balance and keep Lucky from spilling onto the ground, Echoskip smiled. Cats like her continued to prove her parents and siblings wrong.

Amberstorm nodded to the queen and began to search for higher ground nearby so that Whitestep wouldn't have to go so far. Unfortunately, rain clouded her vision, falling in thick sheets. Growling, Amberstorm simply made for the camp entrance. "The rain's coming down too hard for me to see anything here -- we'll have to leave camp and find higher ground out there so that we can wait for Goldeneye's next instruction. I'm assuming it won't be long before we leave for better shelter. Do you think you can hold out that long, Whitestep?" As she spoke the kits she held slipped and she constantly paused, having to readjust her grip over and over.
Whitestep shivered at the cold rain. "I'm not so much as worried about me as I am my kits," she replied. "Owlkit, Willowkit, Berrykit, can you walk?" Owlkit attempted to puff out her chest, and nod. Willowkit and Berrykit wiggled around. "Were almost six moons old! We can keep going," they exclaimed in unison. Whitestep nodded and sat Willowkit down. "Stay close," she told her kits. Willowkit nodded. Hollykit stirred. "I can walk too," he murmured. "Hollykit," Whitestep breathed in relief. Setting her kit down she licked him furiously. "Stay close kits," she repeated and trotted forward.

Marshfur's vision was blurry, she barely felt alive anymore, like she was floating. She felt herself stop, barely given a second before there was a mass of golden fur staring her in the face. It screamed at her, she knew it was, but she couldn't see, couldn't hear. She didn't care anymore. They could leave her, she wasn't trying to get them killed, but if they were trying to stay behind and save her, perhaps StarClan was trying to make them happy, too. Her face was deadpan, emotionless, watching the yellow tom shout at her. It was Morningpath. On any other day, she would have flinched and cried and apologised until her throat hurt, but she didn't hear any words, just reading the maw that shouted them. She was suddenly aware of the pain in her neck, the wounds on her legs that were scraped and bloody and covered in mud and debris. Suddenly she could feel the pain in her chest that felt like she was crying, and now she was so abruptly aware of the tears staining her fur. She still felt numb, her legs wouldn't move, but now she was suddenly acutely aware of what was happening.

And then there was noise, the noise so deafening it made her flinch. The sounds of the storm pounding down on the group of them, the cats clamouring and shouting around them. Daypaw dragging her in the water that was almost swallowing her. Morningpath. That's what she was suddenly focused on, the overpowering tom shouting in her face, now she was aware of what he was saying and she was flinching, she was reacting. She swallowed thickly, tasting dirt and filth caking her mouth. She blinked, breathing heavily. Had she always felt so exhausted? Her joints ached, and she weakly started to move, the bones popping as she did so, breaking away from Daypaw's grip, but finding herself stumbling as she tried to step forwards, her paws stinging so white hot more tears bubbled in her eyes just from that pain. Marshfur couldn't control her body, she kept trying to walk, but she felt so beaten, so sore.

She licked her maw, eyes half-lidded, she tried to speak, just a soft croak coming from her mouth, "I'm sorry..." She doubted anyone could hear it.

Herbs calculated in their mind, what needed to be treated, what needed to be cleaned, what needed to be healed. But they would do no healing if she didnt live. They whipped around to turn to Morningpath in a furious snarl. They didnt care if they were a warrior, Daypaw faced them with authority,"Instead of taunting a cat, how about you put your mouth to better uses!" their eyes were in slits. Couldnt the tom see that there were a more mature way of handling things? That their camp was rising higher and higher in water and while Daypaw was trying to carry her, Morningpath was simply screaming at her. Daypaw dug their claws into the muddy ground. "Cats are dying around you and all you want to do it yell," the enby hiss, fur fluffing out despite the rain pouring over head. Sure, this shecat was difficult. But every life deserved to be saved. Every life held something. Maybe she was scared. Maybe she didnt want to be saved. Cats werent suppose to play with their lives like they are god. "Now help me carry her to the top of that hill before all of us die."
The golden warrior smirked once he saw the color come back to her eyes, once he saw her flinch, once he saw her cry. Of course he felt an accuse sense of guilt after he saw her tear up, but he was elated, she had feelings again, she wasn't as numb as she was before. He then turned his attention to the medicine cat, his sky blue orbs flickered with anger "Sometimes taunting helps more than you may think." he stated simply, his tail flicking behind him. "And I can say the same to you, you're not doing anything but yelling right know too." he sniffed. It annoyed him that the younger cat thought they knew best, it hadn't been the first time he had dealt with something like this, Warriors trying to kill themselves when the going hit rough. He knew how to knock them out of the numbness they felt, out of the nothingness they let swallow them whole. He smiled softly as he saw Marshfur star stumbling up the hill on her own, he was about to follow her, but instead of bolting up there and supporting her he gave Daypaw a deadpan look, no anger, no hatred, no remorse, no sadness, joy, depression, courage, none of that, his blue orbs were lifeless, except, with the faint flicker of a challenge "Untill you know how to stop a dead cat from dying, I suggest you leave it to someone who knows." he stated simply. He then motioned for the medicine cat to go ahead of him, wishing for the young tabby to get to safety. He then followed the two and leaned up against the spotted warrior on the opposite side of the golden colored tabby, his ears flat against his head. He hadn't expected the medicine cat to get what he said, very few do, only those who had experienced what he had would understand what he had meant.

Morningpath then gave the molly a soft smile "I forgive you." he said quietly.

The terrain was a bit muddy, and besides from sitting with her mate nothing amazing was going on. She took a step towards them, ears pricked. She liked that this wasn't being taken over by a tom.

She couldn't leave camp until she found him, terrible thoughts racing through her mind. What if I never see him again? Please, come help me Honey! Mothflower felt the water rushing over her feet, slightly unbalancing her. Her face went under the water, and for a dreadful moment Mothflower thought she was going to die, until she pushed her paws with just enough strength to get to slightly higher ground.

After all, that was his first kit with Pearlstream. She would had been even more devastated if she lost their daughter. The tom searched around for all his kits. Sunrisedapple was there, she could hear her mother's frantic calls. ''Daddy! Hurry! Momma's worried!'' The she cat called, her own eyes holding flecks of sadness in them. S was truly scared, and even though her father told her repeatedly to join her mother's side and that he would be right there, she was still worried about him. Planted to her spot, unable to move. Honeythistle grabbed Twilightkit by her scruff. She was a small thing, wouldn't be able to survive with this much water rising. He quickly shoved Twilightkit to Sunrisedapple. ''Take your sister and go to your mother, Sunrise. I am serious.'' He told her, his green eyes flashing before he stumbled back into the nursery den. Sunrise gently picked up Twilightkit, and she obeyed her father, running as fast as her legs would carry her to her mother's side.

Honeythistle scanned the nursery, gently picking up Nightfallkit. The small tom fought in his father's jaws, but Honeythistle made sure he was okay, that he couldn't get away. His other mates and kits were out, and he knew he had to catch up with them. He prayed to Starclan that they all would be safe. Especially his newborn kits. The tom quickly left out the nursery den, and as he did so, he was accompanied by his son, Royalflash. The ginger tom gave his dad a brilliant smile. ''Having fun, eh? Finally something happens in Shadowclan! I'm outta here!'' He laughed. Honeythistle thought it was seriously something wrong with that son of his. Finally, he had two sons. Both handsome and healthy enough to continue on his legacy...yet, they both were immature and disappointing him. Honeythistle still loved them, but he had faith in Nightfallkit, that the young tom wouldn't turn out as rebellious.

The tom ran until he was caught up to his mate, seeing her drenched fur. With his kit still in his mouth, he turned his head to put the small tom on his back. ''Hold on, Nightfallkit.'' He nudged the tired kit with his nose, then he turned back to Mothflower. ''I think he inhaled too much water, but he'll be alright.'' Upon saying that, Nightfallkit had spluttered out water, and it made Honeythistle flinch for a moment. Sunrisedapple stayed close to her mother, her sister in her jaws as she awaited orders from her father.

''Let's catch up to the others before things gets worse.'' He told Mothflower before he started trekking on through the rain. But, one thought occurred in his mind. ''Where is my mother? I can't leave her behind! Did you see her anywhere?'' He turned his head briskly back towards Mothflower, a pleading look in his eyes. He didn't want to leave his mother behind. Never had he failed his family, and he wasn't going to do that today.

Twilightkit felt the warmth of other cats around her, slightly wiggling in Sunrisedapple's jaws and flailing her tiny limbs in sudden panic. She fluffed out her fur, trying to keep as warm as she could. The sudden flood was unknown to Twilightkit, all she knew was that she was cold, wet, and shivery. Her tiny limbs were still slightly flailing in the air, emitting tiny whimpers.
A shriek leaving her throat, the senior queen found herself paddling rapidly against a surge of flood water. It seemed like only earlier it was just a soft drizzle, bit quickly darkness consumed the forest and Starclan unleashed a flood on them. Tears were flooding the Queen's eyes as she exerted her energy climbing onto higher ground, her thick pelt plastered against her skin. Without all the fluff, it was easy to see her malnourished figure, but that was the last thing on her mind right now. Her family was out there somewhere, sopping wet and evacuating. Cedartuft was quite dazed, squinting through the downpour to find anyone she could recognize. Letting out a desperate caterwaul, she was unable to hold back anymore tears. Thoughts of her babies being swept away and possibly dying was just too much for her to bear. Shaking like a wet kitten, Cedartuft swarmed with a few escaping cats, her breath coming quick and heavy. This is Starclan's doing. It's a sign!

Slipping in a puddle of mud, the senior queen landed with a thud, the thick substance coating her matted fur almost to the point of no recognition. A surprised cry forced its way from her chest as she scrambled back onto all fours, picking her way out. It was incredibly difficult with the weight of her fur and mud sucking her paws down. This is awful! A wave of adrenaline washed over her as she forced her way out of the pit and pushed herself further towards the exit. Glimpsing through the pouring rain, the figure of one of her son's, Honeythistle, was almost evident. A sob wracked her body as she yelled out.

"Honeythistle?!"

Amberstorm gave the queen an uncertain glance, then after a moment's hesitation she set Owlkit and Berrykit down. "Stick close," she warned them somberly, "and if you start having trouble, immediately come to me or your mother for help. This isn't like a game of mossball -- this is serious." With that, she urged the kits forward a bit with her muzzle, then raised her head and carried on toward the exit while keeping a wary eye on them.

They grabbed a bid from the freshkill pile and made there way out of the den. Cats were screeching for help. the wind and the rain blew against Daypaws fur. They had grabbed the freshkill for Lambkit once at the top. He needed to eat something in order to live. They knew about the toms anxiety so they would try to calm them. Daypaw was worried about keeping Lucky in someone elses care, but they had other cats to get to. Many other cats, and to save any herbs and pieces of freshkill they could before it was all washed away. They gave Ebony a small nod,"Thank you Ebonyfrost." they mumbled. They normally never gave little words of praises like that. Looking up towards Lucky Daypaws ears twitched,"Lucky, I'll meet you at the top of the hill once I get all of my other patients, okay? Ebony will take care of you till then." It was rare, but Daypaw actually smiled. Despite the cold rain crashing into them, despite the loud thunder above them. It was the only bit of comfort they could give. They rushed down back to the medcat den, eyes on any other cats they needed to get out.

No. He couldn't think like that. What mattered was he did get to her. And now she was safe, and he was by her side, which he wouldn't be leaving for quite awhile. He couldn't think like he'd just been. He couldn't bare to. Even though he hadn't known her for too long, he cared about her immensely; he couldn't think of what he'd do if he were to lose her.

"You good, Newt?" He asked, concern thick in his voice. He wanted to make sure she was alright going this quickly, or if she needed to catch her breath. He knew fhe experience had been beyond traumatizing. Lionpaw couldn't even begin to understand the emotions she must be feeling. Even the emotions he could see in her gaze were unsettling to the tom himself.
The small apprentice was silent, her eyes darting to cats as they rushed past them, fleeing like the whole forest was on fire. It was truly a scene that would be burned in her mind until the end of time and even now, the feeling of being surrounded by dark, murky made her eyes widen with terror, knowing that the flood could catch up with them each minute that passed. She never wanted to know that feeling again, the sense of being trapped with no air, no escape, nothing but darkness around her. Her jaws parted ever so slightly to breath in and out in short, shallow breaths, but no matter what, she did not stop in her pace. Right now, Newtpaw wanted to get away, to run away from the terror that had just happened to her. The long-furred female glanced at Lionpaw, who was close to her side, knowing that without him, she wouldn’t have had the chance of making it out of that deathtrap. She leaned against him slightly, breathing in his scent and making sure never to close sight of him. Before it got too weird though, she pulled away and looked down dully at her paws as they brushed through the muddy, dampened green grass.

His words, abrupt and without warning to her, make the apprentice jump slightly, being so deep in her own traumatized mindset. She opened her mouth, but no words seemed to be heard at first and Newtpaw didn’t know what to say - was she truly okay? She was alive and that was all that she could think of, but the apprentice knew better than to worry the tom-cat. “Yes.” Her response was quick, almost sudden, “I’m perfectly fine.” Newtpaw paused and turned her head to look back at the camp that they were leaving behind - her home. The she-cat shook her head and turned away from the scene, the horrific yowling of terror still ringing in her eardrums. She closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them, looking to the path before them. She started to walk ahead, at a quickened pace. She attempted to run as fast as her fleeing clan, but alas, she could not, due to her shortened legs. Newtpaw fell back and walked alongside her friend, silent now and looking down at her paws as thoughts seemed to swarm her head and nightmares seemed to form, even though she was not sleeping.

"Try to close your eyes and listen to my voice until were at the top."

@Charmer
Heh, you keep calling Ebonymist 'Ebonyfrost'... which actually sounds a lot better.
