Creekpaw was racing down the moor, eyes watering because he was going so fast. He had been eating his morning meal when Mountainmist called him and he had taken his time instead of gulping it down. Now making up for lost time, he jumped over a heather plant and the boarder came into sight.
Slowing himself, he skidded to a halt just in front of the stream that marked the boarder. "Here and ready to mark some boarders!" He giggled slightly with a big smile. That was fun running down the moor at full speed!

"Starclan's sake, you idiot." Mountainmist mumbled as she stared at the apprentice's dishevelled appearance. Goodness her, why couldn't he just look normal for a small bit? But she liked the apprentice... she had to admit that. And his enthusiasm and energy was rubbing off on her as well. "Ready, yes. Let's go. And don't go running off like you've never seen the border before!" she told him as she let her tail smack over his ear, her own black ears directed towards the stream which separated them from Riverclan territory. "I assume I ain't gotta tell you much about the borders or anything in relation to that?" she didn't mind doing it but sometimes... she just preferred to get this task over and done with. "Come on," she gestured with her head and then began walking down to the river that flowed through and separated them. "No falling down in the river please. I only know one cat who can swim in Windclan and she'll get rightly mad at me if I am to fetch her."

Licking his ruffled down, Creekpaw smiled as Mountainmist smacked him on the ear, dipping a little away an in attempt to dodge that failed. "Hey! Do you even know who I am? Of course I won't go running off, like, I might do that on the moor but, not on a boarder." He began trotting up to the large dark gray she's side. Slowing to match her pace step for step. "Don't plan on going swimming today so it won't be a problem!"

With his final stop being a clump of cattails and reeds - which he "gracefully" rolled around in - Pebblepudge gave a nod towards his clanmate.

"I think that will be good enough for now. I need to get back and check on Crabpaw..." He trailed off, tone slightly worried. "Do you want me to give Sootflare the report? Or would you like to?" Waving his tail for the other follow, Pebblepudge made his way back towards camp with a brisk pace.

"Glad to know you're not as stupid as other apprentices. This river can drown you easily, and its no nice thing to go drowning that is to be said." With that Mountainmist slowly made her way to the first stop on their trip along the Riverclan border. Despite the majority of the border being an actual physical barrier in the form of a river, it was still important for them to mark their own sides of it. Gesturing to a large clump of ferns around a medium sized stone she made her way to it before brushing her cheek against the stone multiple times and snaking her body against the ferns. "This is one of many markers along the border. We're only going to a few of them today because I do not want to be here when the sun is up and I'll be dying from the heat. Now you go ahead and try to mark it."

Following closely behind Mountainmist, Creekpaw watched as she marked the boarder by rubbing on things. Doing the same, he scratched his side on a rock. "Ha right." Which to be honest, felt really good and cool on his short fur. He almost felt back for the grey she that she cooked in the day while he was comfortable. Moving on, he sliding through some ferns and out the other side to look over at Mountainmist.

[That Key in the Tree]

Hollywatcher watched as he rolled in the reeds. She followed him, noting his slightly worried tone when he spoke. She flicked her ears, thinking. She wasn’t in a hurry to do anything else so she might as well do give the report. She nodded at him. “I can give the report.” She quickened her pace to keep up with him. “You go ahead and check on Crabpaw.”

Letting out a soft smile at the apprentice Mountainmist nodded approvingly at his actions as he weaved in and out of the ferns. "Doing good there Creek. That's all ya gotta do for a border patrol. Outside of course of being aware of trespassing scents, which is probably the hardest challenge that you'll have. Especially when you're not fully sure if the scent is diminished due to the water or if that is just the natural scent of whatever creature decided to walk across or through our border." With that she began moving further along the border and then rested her nose at some ferns, and then waved her tail for Creekpaw to come over. "Here, this is rogue scent typically. Won't do us much good since it seems to be heading towards Riverclan, but can you scent how much less there is to scent? That is typically a goods sign for rogues. They don't carry the distinct smells like any clan cats does."

Coming out of the ferns fully, Creekpaw nodded at her praise and trotted over to the rogue scent. It was strange, nothing like he had really smelled much, kinda earthy musky scent almost. He nodded as she spoke about there being less smell. "That makes sense."Sniffing closer, he snorted, jolting his head up as a fern pricked his nose.

Mountainmist nodded. "Yes. And this means. That our border patrol is done. We remarked the borders, we found unusual scents and you now know what they smell like should any loner or rogues come past the borders that we just remarked. Good job Creek. Gotta get home now." With that the smoky black molly set off towards the Windclan camp, tail switching and legs pumping. She just wanted to get home. Get a nap too. She needed one most certainly while the sun was up.

That was short. Creekpaw nodded and began trotting away from the river. Making his way towards Mountainmist, he trotted at the dark she's side. He planned to eat some prey once they got back to camp.
