"Why aren't you as exciting as your name?" Olive thought curiously, poking the shoulder of the tom with her nose as she practically bounced along beside him. Her pale-brown and white-splotched fur was fluffed against the breeze and she tilted her head thoughtfully. Though she didn't mean to be rude, she truly found Nightmare rather bland. He didn't talk much and when cats didn't talk Olive found them a little boring. Sometimes. As she bounced beside him, she asked, "Where are we goin? Anywhere special?" She chirped, just as merrily before.

"Just going where there's plenty of prey. You'll see." He keeps walking forward.

Olive wasn’t deterred when he didn’t respond with nearly enough information. She leapt after him with a scowl. “But where.” She scowled determinedly.

The toms lack of explaining couldn’t help but make Olive nervous. What am I doing running around with strange cats? She wondered dramatically, but shook the thought from her head as she shook our her pelt, trying to fluff it up as the breeze began to blow a little harder. “Your terrible at explaining things.” She would mumble back, quiet but loud enough for him to hear. She opened her mouth in case they came along any scents just in case, but kept padding along side Nightmare, wanting to see where he was leading her now.

The two of them enter a clearing with lots of prey skittering around and away from the two cats.

Olive’s eyes sparkled with excitement as they entered the clearing. “Finally, something not completely boring.” She bumped against the tom playfully, undeterred by his lack of communication. “The prey basically jumps into my paws!” She laughed, darting into a thicket before coming back with a mouse dangling from her jaws.

She looked from her skinny frame to Nightmare. Did he think she was hunting for him? Olive shook her head with a laugh. “I’m not catching your prey for you!” She laughed, glancing at the older tom jokingly. Surely he wasn’t as incompetent as he couldn’t catch his own prey? A rustle broke her from her thoughts and she dove into a clump of ferns coming out with a vole. Pride sparked in her gaze and she lied down to eat them, as she hadn’t eaten in days it seemed. This was a good place as any to get a big meal.

“But I thought you said you were on your way to hunting when I met you?” Olive said, looking at the tom quizzically. It went from quizzically to amazement when she saw him catch the mouse. “That was so cool! Here watch this!” She threw herself into a different bush, the remains of her previous meal picked to the bone, and came out with a shrew, eyes bright and fur bushy with excitement. “How’d I do?” She asked, practically purring because she felt proud of herself.
