Bella saw that she had successfully made Everest sad. “Oh, is the baby sad now? Is it going to start crying and wailing on the floor?” Bella laughed. Everest could be so pathetic sometimes.

Shae was walking down the hall, to her class. But then she heard an unfortunately familiar snobby voice. Bella. And it seemed she was saying something to Everest. The brat was teasing her sister, who just lost the love of her life. Her eyes narrowed as she stomped over to the black-haired terror and had to keep herself from slapping her right across her spoiled, make-up infested face. "You stop that, we all know you're the only baby here. Putting people down to make your own pitiful self feel better went out of fashion the moment you started doing it, because no one wants to be like you." @Fierceclaw @The Flying Pizza

Shae didn't back down. The bully wasn't going to break her sister down any more. "She doesn't need me to. I choose to. And she's so much stronger than you'll ever be. Y'know, if you ever really loved Holt, you'd be just like her right now." @Fierceclaw @The Flying Pizza

Bella eyes clouded with sadness as Shae's words sunk in. But then, they cleared. "I did love Holt. But I'm not living in a pit of dispair (I think that is how you spell it) because I know that Holt would like me to find a way to be happy instead of being misearable." (again, I think that is how you spell it) Bella said, glaring at Shae.

"Okay. Two things," Shae said, returning Bella's glare, but feeling a little pity and guilt after seeing the small flash of sadness caused by her words. But Bully Bella shouldn't have been treated Everest that way, and that made her angrier. "One: She's not living in a pit of despair. She's grieving, but functioning like a... oh, how should I say it? A normal human being?" She paused for a moment to let her words sink in before continuing. "Two: You said Holt would want you to be happy. Not mean. Tell me, does hurting her really make you happy? If it does, it's just another reason Holt loved her and not you." Now Shae knew she was being mean. But the words were said, and she wasn't going to take them back until Bella apologized for every last insult and put-down that ever left her pretty pink lips. And never did it again. @Fierceclaw

Shae's words spun around Bella's head. Did being mean make her happy? Well, it gave her something to do. And that was better than doing nothing at all. "I like being mean you know. It makes people respect me and give me everything I want." Bella said.

Everest had been quiet the whole time, before speaking a few words. "If you wanted to see me that sad and in pain...fine...I'm tired of sticking up for myself to you every day." she nodded at her younger sister, gratefully before retreating to the counselor's office. Lately, she had disappeared into that room for most of the day, crying, trying not to weep as much.
