Grubpaw padded behind Fourshadow. "Finally we can leave" he groaned. Fourshadow flick him in the face with his tail. "Hay!" Grubpaw snapped at the orange tom.

Softsong's tail twitched in amusement as Spottedpaw joked along. "I know Poppysong's dealing with their injury, so if you ever need someone to take you onto the territory, you can tag along with Fallowpaw and I," she offered. She'd already done the basics with her own apprentice, so she had time to spare, especially for Poppysong (and Spottedpaw by extension).

She lifted her gaze as Twilightstar announced their departure. Good. It will be nice to be back in bed and out of this wind. She followed behind her leader, still thinking hard on StarClan's ever-indiscernible motives. Why didn't they communicate with our own medicine cats? Was there some truth to Peachfrost's accusations after all? No. StarClan could have just as easily spoken with Twilightstar. She put the thought out of her mind.

Ripplepelt looked at Adderpaw in surprise. She hadn't heard of SkyClan? It wasn't that surprising considering her young age, she supposed, but it threw her off nonetheless.

She opened her mouth to explain, but was interrupted by Twilightstar announcing WindClan's departure. "Sounds like we're next," she mewed, watching the other clans filter out of the Seastones. "Tell you what - how about we go hunting at Rugged Range tomorrow morning, and I can tell you all about SkyClan then? Get straight to bed when we get back to camp - it's quite a trek, so you'll need to be well rested."

Poppysong smiles. ”I guess we do look similar… And thanks for offering that, Softsong. I appreciate it.”

They glance at their leg, which is wrapped up in a tourniquet of sorts. It looks a little messy, like they need it replaced or fixed up sometime soon. When Twilightstar announces they are leaving, Poppysong jumps a bit. They stand and carefully begin walking out, gesturing for Spottedpaw to follow.

Poppysong taps their leg on the ground and pain shoots up it. They wrinkle their face and blink to keep themself from tearing up. They pay attention to their damaged leg, keeping themself from putting too much pressure on it.

‘Why can’t the medicine cats get the messages?’ Poppysong wonders in their head as they glance into the cold sky. ‘Does Starclan not believe them worthy?’

Softsong frowned as Poppysong stood, offering them her side for support. "You shouldn't have have come along to the Seastones if it still hurts to put weight on," she mewed, a little prickly in her concern. "What did the medicine cats say when you got it looked at?"

‘Mousedung. I have to be more careful. ’

Poppysong smiles at Softsong. They begin to explain, and perhaps over-explain, “Ah, I’m good. They said to be careful and to tell them if it started hurting too bad. I just think I overworked it today. It’s late and everybody is tired, so I’ll go in tomorrow if it’s still hurting.”

Part of them does actually want to get it checked out- but the other (louder) part recalls when the deaths were announced after that sickness spread. And sickness seems to hang in the air in the medicine den.

They continue on, stretching it a bit before hesitantly placing more weight on it.

The young apprentice jumped around for a little bit excited to go on another adventure with one of her favorite cats. "That sounds like a lot of fun! I'll be sure to sleep well. So well that you'd think I am the most well rest cat to have every been!" Adderpaw said excitedly before looking to the leader stones. Oh Ripplepelt was correct it was only Larkstar. It felt like this was a really short meeting and there was so much she was missing. She was going to have to ask Ripplepelt SO MUCH.

Aw it was time to go already? What a bummer... Spottedpaw wanted to talk more but she had to go with her clan. She was expecting to talk to other clan cats but then again it was hard to do that when you snuggled up to your mentor for warmth. There was always next time. "Thank you, Softsong. That sounds like it will be fun." She said with a smile. Then she looked to her mentor with a worried look, she looked hurt hurt so why did she walk out so far. "The cold can't be helping either!" She said parroting what other cats have said before though she didn't know if that was the case.

Softsong's tail flicked. "Well, do as they say then. Stay off it until it's healed or you'll just make yourself worse, and then you won't have any choice but to stay off it."
She gave them a gentle flick to the head with her tail. "Don't be so quick to get back to your duties. Take care of yourself," she grumbled.

Softsong turned to Spottedpaw, fixing her with a stern look. "Come tell me if they get up to anything mousebrained," she told her, not making any effort to keep Poppysong out of earshot. She'd sit on them all day if that was what it took to keep them still and healing.

Ripplepelt let out an amused huff at Adderpaw's determination to be the best at everything, apparently even sleeping.

"Good. You'll need your energy," she mewed. "It'll be good to spend the day with you." It would do her some good to take a break from more stressful duties for the day and instead spend the day trekking, hunting and reminiscing in such good company.

“The cold likely isn’t helping, but I can’t imagine how cold it would be without so much fur.” Poppysong nods to Spottedpaw and curls their tail up, showing off their large amount of red-brown fur hanging from it.

“And here I thought I was the mentor,” Poppysong chuckles, looking back at Softsong with a grin. Their nervousness makes their grin twitch, but the grin itself is quite warm and genuine.

Cowtuft bursted out into laughter, his shoulders shook in response to Lightningstorm's tangent. "Goodness! Isn't that a metaphor.. for life itself? Reality always getting in that way.." He let out a long, exaggerated sigh; his whiskers twitched in amusement. He quieted down soon, settling into a more relaxed posture. That laugh was long needed. Even in darkness there would be bits of light.

ThunderClan and RiverClan came next by their scent. The two who arrived were smaller in statue, younger. His eyebrows furrowed close together. Tansypaw and Springpaw, he reckoned. Cowtuft dipped his head in greeting, but otherwise kept withdrawn. ,, He hoped Falconfeather and Drizzlecloud were alright. While he wasn't particularly close to them, he grew concerned seeing a new cat come into their rank so often.

ShadowClan's medicine cat also does not show, though Drizzlecloud does. It isn't unheard of for one of them to miss a Gathering. However, he never quite realized how familiar he had grown to seeing Elmshadow present. It is a strange sight and the splotched tom doesn't enjoy it. He's seen such a sight seven times already.

He always drifts off after the original greetings are done. He used to be more interactive, sure of it, but down the line it dwindled into something more simplistic. Disconnected. The gatherings were always stressful, overwhelming. Cowtuft made his best efforts to stay in the present. It was a nasty habit, something he had to nip.

,, He did always try to look out for chances to help, though. Tansypaw's off-hand comment was enough to catch his attention. He turned towards her, "Do you bury your herbs.. or dry them..? Both can help preserve herbs longer.. throughout leaf bare.. There are a few herbs that grow.. during leaf bare too, " He gestured towards RiverClan's medicine cat apprentice.

Cowtuft looked to the leaders, trying to tune into what they were saying. ShadowClan's announcements were brief, he didn't pay them too much mind. His eyebrows furrowing closer together to see ,, someone push herbs towards Twilightstar. Spiderthroat he figured was the feline unless he was mixing up voices. ,, Herbs to make up for the lives they lost. It was borderline disrespectful, and he stiffened, looking towards ThunderClan's medicine cat with questions swirling in his eyes.

He didn't like to be distrustful, but golly. That deputy of theirs had supposedly killed so many cats, including a medicine cat. He also happened to know things he shouldn't know. As far as any of the anyone outside of WindClan, the sickness could've been greencough. That didn't look like catmint.

Fallownose was quick to reply, asking for something more. Cowtuft's stomach shifted with unease. The idea of a small chunk of territory and ,, three herbs making up for three lives .. He frowned deeply. Even deeper as Bumblestar spoke.

The stars talk. The stars talk. The stars talk.

The stars talk to ThunderClan but they don't speak to him; they don't speak to WindClan. Despite the five cats who have passed to the sickness, his efforts to find the cause amounted to nothing. The stars would talk to share his secrets and they would talk to the murderers.

Not him. or Lightningstorm. or Anyone in WindClan. It was disrespectful, and Cowtuft couldn't help but feel an all-consuming bitterness. StarClan could've prevented this all but they used their knowledge to benefit ThunderClan,, who took at least two of their clanmates away. (Spiderthroat begged to differ, the medicine cat didn't quite have any inclination to believe him.)

And poison? Cowtuft looked to his apprentice, his tail only held down by his paws otherwise it would be twitching with frustration. It wasn't poison. He didn't understand the narrative that StarClan was pushing. If they were so inclined to get them out of his rank, they could ask. They didn't have to kill his clanmates to do so.

He tries to take subtle, calming breaths but his expression had darkened. Falconfeather was dead. He barely knew the tom for three moons.

Blimey. He wanted out, out and away from this Gathering. He was ready to head back home. It seemed like there was a common agreeance. No one wanted to diddle daddle as each clan announced their leave. Cowtuft rises swiftly to his paws, quickly following behind Lightningstorm who was keen to inquire ThunderClan's medicine cats on a bit more specific details on the herbs.
