Her kit was a runt anyway. Honeythistle's other mates had had bigger stronger kits, and more kits. It made Pearlstream feel bad about herself. She smiled warmly at Honeythistle, not wanting him to think it was his fault.

The small Asian Burmilla molly kept on padding forward. She wasn't sure if she should say anything else. Maybe that she was fine. "I'm fine." she reassured him, hoping he wouldn't realize she had been pouting just a while ago. Or the reason she had been pouting. He probably wouldn't like it if she was pouting over not having as many kits as his other mates. He would probably lecture her. If not get really annoyed.
''What's the matter with our kit?'' Honeythistle almost narrowed his eyes, but kept a calm expression on his face. The way Pearlstream said it sounded...depressing in a manner. Like she was sad about the kit she received. If anything, Honeythistle thought their kit was a miracle--a blessing--from Starclan themselves. After all, the kit was a runt, but they survived. They survived, and still living, being cared for by his other queens. Now, Honeythistle was extremely protective of this one kit because of that matter. The tom was protective of every offspring that came from him. ''I think you should be lucky that you at least had one.'' The tom hardly got angry at his mates. It was never for small reasons. They never gave him a reason to be angry. Unless it was Strawberrythorn. She always had a way to push his buttons--sometimes for no reason.

Then again, the tom was always easily offended over the slightest things. He felt that Pearlstream was insulting his little one. That she was being ungrateful. Upon her next words, the tom simply gave a huff, lifting his tail to show dominance as he looked away. ''Alright then. Show me that you can still catch something.'' It was known that he was slightly annoyed, and he tried to mask that. Pearlstream was the least one he should be getting angry with anyway.

Pearlstream huffed. She was not insulting their kit! She knew he hadn't said she was insulting his kit, but he had been thinking it, she was sure of that.Pearlstream loved her kit with all her heart. It meant e to her. It was the only kit she ever had. Buts eh was still jealous of his other mates. She could be right? That was fine. They would probably have more kits anyway. But Honeythistle knew Pearlstream loved her kit with all her heart. He didn't need to be rude about it.

The molly opened her mouth to make a rude retort, but she clamped it shut. Better not upset him anymore than he was already. A upset Honeythistle, was a bad Honeythistle. If there was one thing Pearlstream did not want to do, it was upset Honeythistle.

She pricked her ears, looking around the spot where she had stopped. Her ears picked up the faintest pitter patter of feet. She dropped into a crouch, keeping her tail parallel with the ground. She stalked forward slowly, careful not to alert anything. then she focused her gaze on a small furry gray body moving swiftly through the undergrowth. Pearlstream stocked behind the undergrowth, rattling it purposely as she went. The prey darted out; a shrew. Pearlstream leaped over the shrub, landing on it's neck and delivering the killing blow.

Honeythistle narrowed his eyes. Did she just huff at him? The tom stood up, but brushed it off. It was no use for him to be angry at her--just frustrated. He sat down once more, thinking of his kits. Though the eldest hardly needed his protection any longer, the youngest ones would need his complete affections. Thinking of his kits always brought the tom in a calm state, and he allowed his gaze to trail Pearlstream.

She was on the hunt, and Honeythistle stayed a few moments away to keep out her path. This was her catch. Normally, Honeythistle wouldn't allow his mates to hunt or fight. After all, he was taught to be the provider. He was taught that she cats' sole purpose was to produce healthy litters. However, Honeythistle didn't mind her having a little fun when he was out with either of them. He tried to keep a tight knit on his family, always making sure that he remained the dominant one.

His eyes landed on her swift movements, a purr erupting from his throat as he seen her catch fresh kill. The large tom stood up, padding over to her, brushing himself against her in a loving manner. ''Good job.'' He praised her, taking a whiff at the shrew she had killed. ''It looks like you still got the moves.'' He looked into her wide emerald eyes, giving her a small smile. ''And, I thought being a queen slowed you down.'' He purred, his voice laced with teasing. ''But, watch a real professional.'' With his mates, Honeythistle knew how to be playful, and with a quick wink at his mate, the tom stalked low to the ground, ready to catch whatever scent his nostrils picked up first.

Pearlstream smiled happily as he told her that she had done a great job. She knew that normally Honeythistle wouldn't let any of his mates hunt. She felt good when he praised her. Knowing that Honeythistle came from a traditional family, he didn't like his mates hunting or fighting. He had been raised to believe a she-cats purpose was to provide kits for the clan. Pearlstream knew very well he wouldn't let her hunt normally. That was why she felt so good when he told her she had done a good job.

Pearlbreeze's gaze followed Honeythistle. No doubt he was going to do a great job. She had been in the nursery for a long time, a very long time. Well,
not that long, but it felt long to her. He had been out hunting and fighting,
refreshing his skills. It was easy to hunt if you had been doing it for a long time a while before. He had. She had not. However she still watched him, amusement twinkling in her eyes.

Honeythistle slowly lowered himself onto the ground. Obviously, the tom was very skillful. An excellent hunter, and a remarkable fighter. He felt that his mates didn't need to do any of this because he had them covered. The tom's large size was the only thing that didn't help him. Whenever he walked, it was with heavy strides, and sometimes that scared the prey. He never perfected walking with stealth, which was something he desperately wanted to learn, but the tom continued on, looking back once at his mate, and giving her a quick smile. One thing he loved to do was impress others. Especially his mates.

His snout had caught the scent of a fresh bird. Probably something small like a finch or starling. The tom didn't like to go for smaller prey--they were easy. For Honeythistle, he loved larger prey. Just so he could get the praise of bringing something huge down. And, as he was testing his luck, the tom looked above and spotted an eagle in all its glory.

The species was flying above them in a circle, crowing as it did so. Honeythistle stayed low to the ground, having his belly being tickled by the picks of the grass. The thing to hunting down large prey was being able to stay low. Now, since the bird was above the foliage, it was easy for Honeythistle to make his way around. The tom hurriedly ran up a tree, in a swift movement, despite his large size. He stayed sturdy, making sure to keep his claws unsheathed, so that he would have a good grip on the bird. As he made it to an high enough branch, the tom jumped far from the tree, being able to swipe at the bird, and hearing it crow in pain. As Honeythistle dropped far to the ground, satisfied with his move, he traveled back over to his mate. Now, the tom did not have his catch anywhere near him, and as he approached Pearlstream, he gave her a knowing look. ''Wait for it...'' He says, keeping his ears opened for the familiar sound of a bird falling down from the trees, and hitting the ground with a large thud. ''There it goes.'' Now, that was a catch to Honeythistle, and never seemed to fail him. He purred at his mate before going over to the dead eagle. ''How about we get this back to the fresh kill pile, and groom ourselves?'' He asked her, his tail swishing lowly.

The molly's eyes widened in astonishment. He had just caught an eagle. Even if she was all refreshed, had been practicing a lot, she would never have been able to do something like that. Not ever. He must have had a lot of really hard training in order to get by that. Pearlstream knew he was a great hunter. Pearlstream knew he hadn't been copped up in the nursery. Pearlstream knew he had probably had time to practice. But Pearlstream also knew she could never come by doing something like that ever. Not ever. Never. He had caught an eagle. She had seen it with her very own eyes, yet it was hard for her to believe he had caught it. He had, oh she knew that. But it seemed like it was impossible.

She nodded. "Yeah." they probably should head back to camp. She had to admit, she was a little tired. She was exhausted from nursing Daturakit. her kit was also a runt. Pearlstream knew it wasn't polite to think that about her own kit, but she couldn't help it. It was true. she loved her kit all the same. However she was exhausted, that was the point. She wouldn't say anything out loud of course. She wouldn't show it. She wasn't that tired. It would be fine if she stayed out a little while longer, or just in the camp. Then went to check on Daturakit.

She laid her tail over her apprentice's shoulders, hoping she hadn't scared her by mentioning the owl. The warrior flicked her gaze around the forest before mewing, "How about we go check out one of the clearings near the border we share with Riverclan? We can see what you can scent, and then I will teach you how to hunt."
The small apprentice nodded to her mentor’s each and every word that she spoke, her tail shifting back and forth over the grass behind her. “I certainly wouldn’t wish to meet an owl without knowing how to properly defend myself.” Newtpaw mewed, shaking her head and then looking up at Brightfluff with a content smile, “But I know you’ll teach me all there is to know to be the best warrior I can be!” The comforting rest of the older she-cat’s tail on her shoulders made the she-cats feel safe and comforted, making her wonder if how her mother would think of her now - seeing her training and making a future for herself. Newtpaw could only hope she was proud as she looked up and through the trees to the sky above them. Brightfluff’s question, however, snapped the short-legged feline from her thoughts and the apprentice glanced at her once more. “Sounds like a wonderful idea!” Newtpaw purred, bouncing on her paws a small bit before acting more calm and mature, awaiting to follow her to the clearing that they shared with one of their neighboring clans, Riverclan. The young female wondered if fish smelled as bad as some cats say, but she chose not to assume anything before scenting it for herself.

Honeythistle licked his paws, and stepped over to his mate, drawing his tail against her. ''How about I take this back to the clearing, and meet you in the nursery? It's about high time I go see my other loves and check up on my kits.'' He says for a moment, thinking. He didn't have any idea what his oldest kits were doing. The ones who were recently made warriors. Though he figured Crimsonblaze and Royalflash were getting into trouble--nothing new at all. Honeythistle didn't appreciate them giving him a bad name, but could he blame them? They certainly reminded him of how he was when he was younger...just a more ginger version of himself.

He also wanted to see the little ones. His kits that recently a moon old, and were seeing and hearing. He couldn't wait to actually be able to have a conversation with them. However, his other little ones, who were still deaf and blind to the world, couldn't have a conversation. Honeythistle wanted to check on Flykit and Palekit, and he also wanted to check on Daturakit. She was such a small little thing, it was sad. Honeythistle, guiltily thought she wouldn't make it. And, often, when he was alone, he would blame himself for failing Pearlstream. But, he did shower Daturakit in love--even if she didn't know it yet. He was extremely protective of the littlest addition, and forever will be as she grew older.

''I don't want Daturakit waiting on you. She's probably very hungry.'' The tom was unaware that Pearlstream was exhausted from nursing his kit--and it was most likely best if he didn't find out. So, facing away from her, the tom grabbed the end of the dead bird, and began dragging it away. His eyes lingered on one of his beautiful mates before focusing on the direction ahead of him to stash away his catch.

Twirling round and round, though she was checking to see if their were any sudden leaves on her pelt. Any speck of dust on her pelt made her absolutely aggravated. The thought of being dirty? Now, Chrysanthemumshade didn't mind playing dirty, but this was her little secret. To others, she always kept her pelt clean. Shiny and pretty to the eye of others for complete admiration. Even if the admiration was well hidden. For she didn't fish for compliments whenever walking through the clearing or territory. But it was nice to get a heads up every once in awhile such as hey, you're glowing today! Or Your fur is really clean! You look so pretty! Most times, when she appeared to be sunning herself, in whichever spot she could find since Shadowclan was considered to be such a shady habitation. And, the sun would glow on her pelt in the right manner, sometimes she wished to be noticed by most of the toms in her clan. After all, what she cat wouldn’t? Long ago, when she was an apprentice, her mother taught her the devious ways of using her expressions to morph into whatever emotion she wanted to display. Such as humor, sadness, aggression, and most importantly--flirty. Now, Chrysanthemumshade wasn’t the greatest flirt, but one thing she knew was that a she cat with a glowing pelt got a lot of attention. Or, gorgeous eyes. That’s what she remembered what her mentor told her. You have the most beautifulest eyes I’ve ever seen, gosh! They’re like...two large innocent suns ready to rise.

Chrysanthemumshade knew her mind was such a fragile way. Easy to break. Easy to change to anyone’s pleasing. As she realized that she looked pretty stupid spinning around, the she cat quickly caught her tail, going into a delicate spin as she stopped upon facing Wolfglare with her tail caught swiftly in her mouth. She gave him a bright smile--dropping her tail from her mouth. For one thing, the she cat didn’t want to appear that she cared about how she looked. She didn’t want to be one of those she cats that were in vain, and clearly only cared about how they physically looked, so she had to come up with a quick cover up. Perhaps, looking stupid wasn’t as bad as what Wolfglare could had thought if he caught her just trying to make sure she looked right. But, as he laughed--she was taken by surprised. Did he...really laugh? Chrysanthemumshade’s ears perked high, and she actually decided to laugh along with him. ‘’A whole army, you say?’’ She got to her paws, lashing her tail as she stepped towards him and looked around. ‘’Oh no, that sounds terrible! Little bunnies are gonna be the end of us, aren’t they?’’ She played along. For a moment, her guard was down. She was being playful. Something her true self loved doing. ‘’Oh!’’ She laughed, ‘’I remember a time when Clovey and I snuck out the nursery--we were really young, and, um, we went far as the territory would go. We saw some cute little bunny kits and at first, I’ll admit we were so scared--!’’ Her eyes sparkled with the fond memory of when she was kit. She hardly told stories about her kithood. She hardly told stories about herself. Who would want to know about her, anyway? And, this was what made her instantly shut her maw. She was telling personal stuff too much. Stuff she wanted to bury, burn in a pit, or drown in a deep river. The she cat turned away from the tom, flicking her tail. ‘’Bunny kits are adorable.’’ She finally says, and offered him a smile.

As the two sat down, Chryanthemumshade focused her thoughts on the sky. The dark around them, something she would normally be scared of. Things did happen in the dark. And, sometimes they never came to the light. For a moment, her eyes became dull, lost of all emotion. But as soon as Wolfglare began speaking again, the she cat pinned her ears to her head. What she thought was gonna be something good, apparently wasn’t. ‘’Oh.’’ She couldn’t argue with him on that one. Sometimes she wished she could sit down and be alone with her thoughts to only comfort her, but she could never explain to him--or anyone, that sometimes she feels that her thoughts aren’t only her own. Her ears perked up once more upon his next words, and for a moment her gaze caught his. She pinned her ears back once more, but gave a smile as he looked away. Firstly, he said that she was someone he could get along with. Then, he called her a friend. An actual friend. This just might have completed her night...for some odd reason. Chrysanthemumshade didn’t know how to react to the tom. Trying to become his friend was a tough goal for her--probably one of the hardest. Especially since she was at him since before sunset, and now it was night time? Chrysanthemumshade would had snorted, but she held it in. This was worth it, wasn’t it? All she had to do was stay calm, act cool, stop squealing on the inside, try to keep her shivering at bay...all sorts of complicated things wrong with her.

So, instead, the she cat debated for a second whether this was the right move, scooting a little closer to him, almost brushing his pelt, but remaining at a good distance for personal space. ‘’Are you sure you want to be my friend?’’ She asked, her voice laced with teasing. ‘’I mean, I’m just warning you. This is a no turning back point. So, you have to be sure that you actually want to go through with this. I’m giving you a chance to back out now. Or, forever be considered my...friend. ’’ She gave a small giggle, but honestly she felt that he wouldn’t back out at this point. Chrysanthemumshade got up from her spot, shaking her pelt to rid of any debris that clung to her fur. It was definitely a cold night. Cold and night did not work well together for her. She hated the cold. Then, she was scared of the night. She couldn’t see how Wolfglare could survive this--even with his thicker pelt. And, badly she wanted to sink into his fur to keep warm, but she kept her thoughts focused away from it. Soon enough she would go back to the Warriors’ den and get well rested sleep. And, she would be warn in her own nest once more.
Wolfglare watched in surprise from where he sat as Chrysanthemumshade started to chase her tail? He had to admit to himself she looked quite graceful, her gray fur shining sliver in the moonlight that shown down on them. Cats chasing their tails actually wasn't too much of a surprise to Wolfglare, as young kits, his sisters had done it all the time. And Smokepaw did it occasionally. Even Wolfglare himself had done it once or twice. The tom then realized he was staring, so he averted his eyes, trying to act like he hadn't been looking at her. His father might have taught him to treat she-cats as inferiors, but his mother had taught him to respect she-cats. And Wolfglare loved his mother dearly, so of course he would take her word over his father's. The warrior actually wouldn't take any of his father's words over his mother's, no matter what.

He glanced back up at her, watching as she caught her tail and came to a graceful stop. As she looked at him, Wolfglare let out a small snort of amusement and looked back at the ground, a small smile on his face. "Yep, all bunnies are going to be the end of us... We better start getting ready to die." Wolfglare smirked, swishing his tail through the air in a playful matter. The tom then listened to her small story about her kithood. She's sharing things about her past... Maybe he had finally broken through to her? But as she became guarded once more, Wolfglare knew that that wasn't the case. Share something in exchange fur something. That would get her to trust him. They had discussed it earlier, when they were in the warrior's den. "Heh, when me and my sisters were kits, there was this one really rainy day. Out mother told us not to go out of the nursery, otherwise we could catch a cold. But we went out anyways, and we got soaked." Wolfglare's icy eyes were warming up, but they were distant as he was remembering this time. "Then, we found this large pile of mud. Being kits, we had never been out in the territory, so we thought it was cat dirt. I pushed my sister Forestkit into it, and then she ran to our mom crying about being pushed in cat dirt. I sure got a good scolding, before my mother realized it was just mud. Then my mom took my by the scruff and dropped me in it, and her, my sisters and I played in the mud until we couldn't stand on our paws anymore." Wolfglare's eyes sparkled with happiness, but they grew guarded again as he remembered that his mother was gone. But that was one of the happy moments Wolfglare had cherished before his father started his harsh treatment on him. Wolfglare looked down, sadness wrenching his heart. The tom had built up so many walls to protect himself, and others, but just remembering that one bittersweet memory had caused him pain. This was why he didn't enjoy talking about his past. It was harsh on his heart.

As they sat in silence for a few moments, Wolfglare took this time to look up at the sky. The stars sparkling bright above them. "Each of those stars is one of our anscestors, Wolfkit. One day, I am going to join them. But I promise you, that whenever you need strength, just look up to the stars, and I will be there for you." Wolfglare closed his eyes, sighing. When he had been exhausted each night, his mother had come to talk to him, giving him small peices of advice and love. She had thought he was asleep, but Wolfglare had stayed awake, listening to her every word. The tom could feel his eyes starting to heat up, an early sign of tears. The tom instantly put his guard up once again, pushing away memories that were threatening to burst into his conscious mind.

"You should be the one thinking about if you actually want to go through with this." Wolfglare teased as the feline spoke once more. "But yes. I know I do." He gave her a sideways smile, but avoided looking at her eyes for longer than a few seconds. He couldn't let himself get absorbed into those gentle green depths while he was still at a weak point. Taking a deep breath and standing up, the tom stretched out his limbs, waving his tail in the air as he did so. Once he we finished, he shook out his pelt and looked at Chrysanthemumshade. "Well, I say that we start heading back to the camp. It's late, and I bet we both have a lot of work to do tomorrow." Wolfglare knew that he wanted to start his "experiment" tomorrow, bright and early. The large tom was excited. Especially since now, they appeared to be formally declared friends.

Pearlstream nodded. It would be good for her to rest in the nursery anyway.
Even though it was only a shrew, catching it had worn her out. Not that she wasn't tired before she agreed to go hunting. Lying in the nursery could do her some good. Watching the other kits, and especially Daturakit. While Daturakit nursed, she could relax. Rest her aching joints. Yes, it was a great plan.

Pearlstream opened her mouth to say "Yes", but then realized he was already turning to go. She refrained from a sharp retort. He hadn't said anything, but maybe he could have waited for her to agree. Quickly, Pearlstream shook it away. What was the point of getting annoyed with the small things in life? Better to not do that. Instead she picked up her shrew, padding over to her mates side.
