Ew, herbs. Foreststrike wrinkled his nose. Well,
he couldn't let the clan go dying from some STUPID OLD
CAT DISEASE. Foreststrike flicked his tail. "Nightwatcher,
Shadowpaw." the tom's smooth, deep voice rumbled. His
keen green eyes scanned the camp to search for those he'd be
patrolling with. Maybe one of them would fancy him. Nah,
Nightwatcher had a cool name, buuuuut she was WAY
too serious. Also, having a freaking child take a fancy to him
would be disgusting. Ah, well. He'd save his personality until
he got back. For now, he was large and in charge of this little
plant parade. Well actually, they weren't a plant parade yet,
but they would be when they got back. Foreststrike twitched
one black-speckled ear, awaiting his 'Herb Hunters'. No, that
name sucked. Green stuff stealers? Nope, they weren't stealing.
Dang it. HRRRRMMMMM. Plant Collectors? Ew, that was even
worse. Well, the name wasn't important. The Dock Doctors?
Oh crud, he was still name-thinking.

Mossfreckle had followed Lostspark out of their den, following the flick of her fluffy tail. He had always been one to enjoy going on patrols, they were yet another way he could feel of use to his clan, yet for some reason he felt a pang of nervousness as his mentor began to announce the patrols with the practised ease one gained after doing something repeatedly. Listen, learn, remember… his mind repeated in a focused rhythm, working to grasp every minute detail of his mentors words. Listen, learn, remember… this would be his job one day - hopefully not too soon without Lostspark by his side, but one day he would have to do it himself - he needed to listen now so he could be helpful to his clan later.

He was torn from his thoughtful focus as he heard Lostspark call his name, pausing then calling the name of a cat he had had little interaction with - no worries, as long as he had Lostspark he would be okay - not that he could not be trusted by himself that is, he just enjoyed her company and her reassuring presence as he settled into his new role as the medicine cat apprentice.

To himself he recited his assignment, Mossy Lookout with Lostspark and Silverlark - a cat that he could sense his mentor had history with as she finished speaking, her words seemingly guarded - spoken to conceal. Shaking the curiously out of his mind he went back to reciting in his head, he knew cobwebs - most cats did - and he knew marigolds were some sort of flower… right? - but as new as he was to his apprenticeship, he had no idea what their use was. After mentally going over his task, he turned his focus to his mentor and clanmate, “I am ready to go whenever you two are,” he meowed with a respectful bow of his head.

Robinpaw came bounding over when she heard her name called, making a sharp skidding halt when she was close enough. Her eyes beamed up at Eelfang and she was practically jumping from paw to paw as she spoke "Herb patrol? Are we going now? Can we go now? Wait shouldn't someone else be here? We are going to collect so many herbs!"

Dovedance slipped into the patrol place, glancing behind her quickly to make sure that the three apprentices - Midnightpaw, Squirrelpaw, and Lostpaw - were following her.

Spotting Vulturefang, the warrior's amber eyes narrowed slightly and she headed over to the ShadowClan Deputy with a whisk of her tail.

The four cats had caught five pieces of prey in total - only five due to the fact Dovedance had ended up having to TRAIN the apprentices.

A vole, a blackbird, and three shrews.

Each apprentice had made a kill - Lostpaw had made two.

Dovedance dipped her head respectfully to Vulturefang.

''I'm sorry for bringing back so little prey, Vulturefang,'' She mewed.

''It's leaf-bare, and the apprentices - Midnightpaw and Squirrelpaw - didn't have much experience, so I ended up training them. I brought Lostpaw with us, as well, so she could get some hunting in.''

Bluepaw had caught sight of Lostspark's brief smile, and she smiled back in acknowledgement.

The blue-gray and white apprentice had always respected Dawnstar's daughter - and Dawnstar herself.

Bounding over to the center of the clearing, the she-cat let out a yowl for her patrolmates' names.

''Blackhawk! Iceclaw! Are you two coming or must I complete the patrol myself?''

Bluepaw gave an irritated whisk of her tail. Personally, she COULD complete the patrol by herself. She was able to carry much more herbs and prey than usual.

Stinging nettle and thyme, Bluepaw thought. Got it.

''We're headed towards Hidden Haven. I'm going ahead and leaving - follow my tracks if you can.''

Iceclaw gave an irritated growl. The blind warrior forced himself on his paws and narrowed his glazed blue eyes at the direction Bluepaw's voice was coming from.

"I'm here... I've been here the whole time. I was only waiting for you and Blackhawk," Iceclaw hissed, his tail lashing dangerously. His long, threatening claws scraped against the ground. He tasted the air, and looked around. "Some help?" He called out, his ears pinned.

lostpaw padded to dovedance's side. her mouth holding the vole. and goodness it smelled good! her tail raised up high as she walked into camp, she was proud of herself. maybe...just maybe she make a good warrior.
