Skykit had taken a step back when Duskfern whorled around, he had quickly apologized and she instantly felt better. Looking up at Duskfern she meowed," It's alright." Staying close to his side following him to camp, curiosity bubbled inside of her. "Duskfern when will I be able to swim?" Skykit asked listening to the sound of the water, wanting to feel the cool water on her tiny paws that were beginning to hurt a little. She didn't want to tell Duskfern because she didn't want to slow down, she wanted to get to camp.

Dazed gaze ahead, the grey and white molly hardly noticed her surroundings. The recent rain falls had dampened the ground, turning what little dried ground they had to marsh-like areas. The song of the birds were miles away from the warrior, too preoccupied in her own thoughts to take in their melodies. Though given her state of mind as of lately, she would have mistaken their song as a boast, bragging how simple their lives were while Mistfall felt so lost. Ignored birds stretched their wings and flew to a clear sky that the warrior could never reach.

She honestly wasn't sure as to why Fallenstar would ask her on a patrol. They hadn't even spoke ever since the battle between four of the clans. Perhaps that was why? The molly was honestly drifting away from everyone and everything. She continued to feel lost after everything that has happened. She wishes for times to just slow down, wanted it to stop all together, and at the same time wanted everything to hurry up and finish. Mistfall desperately wanted to know how everything was going to end. She wanted to know if Geckoleaf was alive and okay, wanted to know if the clan's safety would stop getting threatened, and she wanted to know if she's end up alright. Would she every stop losing people she loved? Would she actually be able to raise Ashkit? Would her clan-mates be alright? Would Starclan ever grant her some kind of peace?

It seemed like the last one was already answered: No.

Blinking, Mistfall realized that she had been staring towards the ground ahead the entire time. Her gaze made a quick glance towards Fallenstar before surveying the area as she tried to figure out where they were as the stinging blur lessened. The molly was quick to figure it out, but she kept in mind to keep track of where she was and where she was heading and they walked. If only she had as much control over such things as she traveled through life. Her ears were flattened in embarrassment over her thoughts and the fact that she had nearly cried right in front of her leader. Mistfall's jumbled thoughts were messing with her. But who could she go to about it? She wanted to speak to Fallenstar, but she had let too much space come between them after the fight between the four clans, plus, he always seemed to have enough of his plate. She had begun to think about opening up to Geckoleaf, but never got the chance as he dear friend had gone missing. She had tried to get close with Juniperpaw, but the molly had followed in her mentor's paw-steps.... Mistfall definitely couldn't speak to anyone in her family, especially not Boulderglare nor Aspenmask.

Who else did she have?

Mistfall silently cursed herself for allowing more threats of tears to her eyes. Taking a deep breath, Mistfall calmed herself down and decided to address the original question of the situation. "Why did you wish to patrol with me?" inwardly wincing as she realized that her tone was colder than intended as she called over to Fallenstar. Of course, the molly was still upset with him for getting the clan involved in a fight that was not their own... even if it was in the past.

[You're fine! Mine is really late too! ]

He hadn't said a word the whole way here. Awkwardly just shuffled along, ears twitching with every pebble that rolled past as his paws made contact with the damp floor. Moss that stuck to the ground let out a high pitched whine as he squished it, bubbles of water forming as well, making him flinch every time. It wasn't that they scared him, the whines were just all too familiar, except, as he remembered them, they were louder, more gut retching, and, they were also inside his head. After a while, the voices decided that screaming and wailing and whispering weren't doing anything, so now, it was just screaming. This time, there was only one volume. The blood curdling screams rarely turned off, this moment seemed to be one of those rare times. Of course they were loud, but, they weren't as loud as they used to be. Not since he had spoken to Cedarsprint. He didn't understand why but just the very presence of that warrior being in the same room calmed his nerves and snuffed the noise. All of it. It was addicting and at the same time terrifying, they hadn't spoken to one another in moons before that, he couldn't just walk up to the brown feline and ask to just...what? Sit by him? He didn't even know what he'd do after he'd approached the warrior. Snuggle? That was absurd.

Fallenstar didn't even realize Mistfall had fallen behind until he hadn't heard the pattering of paws beneath the hushed whispers. The ebony feline swiveled his head and looked behind him, a sense of familiarity pulsated through him as he saw her vacant, spacy look. He knew it, because that's what he looked like half the time now a days. He didn't blame Mistfall, she had lost Geckoleaf and Juniperpaw, those two were very close to her he had seen. They had that in common, felines they cared for had disappeared. He turned himself around and faced the warrior, a look of concern plastered on his face. He was still easing himself back into it, feeling things once again instead of just being numb, ignoring it all. He felt things other than anger and pain and hatred now, there was relief, concern, amusement. It was all there now. He still had yet to thank Rowanflower, of course, he didn't know if she would understand why. Of course that didn't mean he wasn't still struggling, he got his emotions back, but those voices, those annoying voices, always screaming, always there, waiting, a few of them didn't even speak a tongue he understood. It made him itch.

He watched as the grey molly had come back to her senses, noticed her glossy hues, but neglected to point it out, neglected to give encouraging words. Who was he to give such advice? A dead crow can't give advice to a broken crow. His tail brushed the surface of the pebbles and moss that made themselves at home on the Riverclan territory floor, his lapis hues flickered with...with something, something not even he could name. The leader took a deep inhale of breath as the molly focused her attention on him and asked a question. Her tone was cold, but compared to what he had put himself through, it was like a warm summer breeze. He took a second to process and answer to the question, his gaze lowering to the ground just before her. He didn't have an answer to it. All he knew was that...he didn't want to loose any more connections than he already has, he was trying so, so hard to fix what he broke while he was....well, wasn't himself. He barely managed to patch things up with his deputy, he was working on his childhood best friend...and now, there was Mistfall. She was a good friend to Russetswirl, and he needed all the help he could get. He couldn't get in touch wiht the former leader, so she was the next best step. The ebony leader lifted his head and looked her right in the eye, concerned look melted away and was replaced with that of a serious gaze.

"You know why."

She closed her left eye, the itching subsiding as she breathed deeply to calm herself. She felt horrible about her reaction, after all, Blackfall was the one who had this injury, yet she was the one getting worked up about it. "Sorry," she squeaked, glancing away and fully openeing her eyes. She hated the fact that she felt others' pain, though not in the sense of sympathy. Whevener she saw an injury, she couldn't shake the feeling that the same would happen to her, and she was always extra catious. At this point, she decided against hopping back into the river.

Her attention snapped back to Blackfall at his offer. "No," Shinepelt answered simply and without explaination. She shifted anxiously and her whiskers twtiched, a response to her fear that she had angered Blackfall. The truth was, she couldn't eat prey that was caught by another cat. The idea of a fish sitting in the mouth or paws of another cat before she ate it disgusted her, and she saw nothing wrong in rejecting his offer. She wasn't the type that would do something she didn't want to and 'suck it up' for the sake of the other cat, she was the type that knew their own strict boundaires very well. "I'm not very hungry," she added, looking at the dead fish with reserved disgust. She sniffed, "Even if I was hungry, I prefer to eat alone." Which was true. She ate alone becuase only StarClan knows what diseases she could get if another cat accidently sneezed on her food. She also couldn't eat prey unless she caught it herself and it was properly descaled, feathered, or furred, along with a good ask in the river.
there were many things about shinepelt that puzzled him. but nothing about her was unlikeable. he would ask point blank about her foreign habits, but he also didn’t want to chase her off with questions that she probably couldn’t even answer.

so blackfall just shrugged and got back onto his paws. “in that case, I’ll just take this back to camp. I don’t think even I can eat all of it.” he gestured at the sizable fish with a sweep of his tail. dipping his head, he hooked it on his teeth by its spiny tail fin.

as he began to trot back, barely managing to keep his catch from dragging against the surface, he turned to look over his shoulder.

“were you planning on heading back? I’ll walk with you if you were,” he meowed.

blackfall did enjoy the tranquility of walking back to camp alone, but he felt compelled to try to get to know shinepelt. possibly even get somewhere in trying to understand her.

Either they had heard her, or actually listened, as there was a big difference between the two, though Heatherfur thought it best to not push her luck. Finally, Daydream had dropped the aggressive, grieving tone - to one void of emotion, but still it was a welcomed changed. She let her fur fall and gave her chest fur a few swift licks in more of a way to calm herself than anything. At their comment of not knowing herbs, a twinge of frustration settled into the nook of her spine. "Well, I can't sit in that den anymore and pray to StarClan that I only have to treat scratches the rest of my days, now can I?" Usually she wasn't this short but the tedious task of learning all the herbs was beginning to grow tiresome and frustrating, especially with her work being corrected by those much younger. Heatherfur had spoken before Daydream had gotten the chance to finish however, and heat rushed to her ears as she realized they were leading up to offering their own expertise. It wasn't the first idea she would've thought of for her training - she figured since StarClan got her into this mess, they would at least help her learn what exactly she was suppose to do - but so far her dreams had been just black darkness, ending with her awaking the next morning still with no clue as to what she was doing as RiverClan's medicine cat. "...Thanks. I'd appreciate that," she said, keeping her tone a bit cautious as though she expected them to withdraw it at any time. As Daydream had spoken earlier of needing to speak to someone, she figured she'd be no help at that - Heatherfur was just now starting to learn all the cats in RiverClan, and really only knew Fallenstar and Rowanflower by name. "I can escort you to RiverClan. Not that I don't trust that you can do it on your own, but -" she cut herself off to swoop up the still untouched water vole that neither of them had claimed. "This should get back to RiverClan if you're going to pass on it," she finished, mumbling around a mouthful of fur as she fell into step beside the ShadowClan medicine cat, her gaze trained on the camp that lay ahead.
They started to walk towards the riverclan clearing, knowing the territry by heart at this point. the damp ground, the reeds theyd see here and there, the humidity from the rivers in the air. it wouldve felt comforting if they hadnt just been cast that news. "I know youre bit new to riverclan, but i want you to do my a favor." they tried to keep their tone as uncondescending as possible, they didnt want to seem as if they were looking down on heatherfur,"keep a close eye on fallenstar. theres something about him that rubs me the wrong way." in there short interaction with him he seemed stressed but in a..different way, resorting to immediate anger rather than reason when speaking, which could be dangerous when your clan is on the line.
[i feel this is a good place to end it after you post?]

I told Shatteredsun that I did not like him in that way, and that I liked Wolfpool, and he, he knew that at that time, Wolfpool was a dry paw. Shatteredsun was angry that I liked wolfpool but he was good friends with wolfpool so he decided that I wouldn’t like Wolfpool as much when he was floundering around stupidly. And he could help his friend to not completely hate water, but I saw him push Wolfpool into the river. I dived in after Wolfpool, and dragged him back to shore. Shatteredsun limped over to us, and I scolded him for doing that to Wolfpool, but Wolfpool wanted revenge, and Wolfpool knew Shatteredsun’s biggest secret and used it against him. Now Shatteredsun sees nothing of that old friendship and is hungry for revenge. He dragged Beestrike into it. Listen, beestrike is a good cat, he follows his brother too much though, I’ve seen Beestrike fish, he is brilliant, and kind. His brother is trying to corrupt his soul sith the need for revenge, but Beestrike isn’t totally changed yet, we can still help him, and change shatteredsun’s Mind. I am sorry that I know nothing of shatteredsun’s big secret. I wish Shatteredsun would just let me help instead of focusing on his revenge.” Shimmerskip looked at Wolfclaw with a sorrowful look, she felt completely torn, should she help the cat who scarred her, or leave him to destroy her ex-mate, who was broken enough as it is.
Wolfclaw was completely silence and looked out at the river as it rushed by, the shecat beside him finally bringing some light to all this drama. His ears twitched now and then as he processed all that Shimmerskip said, through this tale of friendship, love, jealousy and ending with hungry, raw revenge. It sounded like something an elder would spit to some kittens who were thirsty for some late night stories before bedtime. The large warrior knew a thing or two about cats being corrupted within their minds through emotion pain and such else. He had watched someone close to him once be driven close to madness because of the ones in their past. Such was not a pretty sight for both ends of that and he knew that his family and friends would be proud if he was able to prevent another cat from losing their head and ending a cold drama within this clan. Out of the corner of his gaze, Wolfclaw saw Shimmerskip look at him, such sorrow and pain within her eyes, which made his own heart feel heavy with a burden - one that he had voluntarily put onto himself. “Well, how would we get Beestrike away from his brother in order to talk to him about all this between the three of us?” The maine coon asked, tail twitching from beside him, “I think that would be the easiest way to start out with fixing this mess.” The scarred warrior looked off to the trees for a moment, silently asking someone if this was the right thing to do, but nonetheless, perhaps he was just not used to helping others.

"He doesn't have an apprentice, but Shatteredsun does. Beestrike stays in camp most of the time, so that might be a good start."

Wolfclaw blinked at the shecat, then nodded to her words. “Alright, sounds simple enough,” He said, heaving himself to his paws with a pained grunt, “Should we try to talk to him tomorrow morning then and see if Shatteredsun takes his apprentice out for training? This is your idea, after all.” The large maine coon looked down at her while his whiskers twitched now and again as a gentle breeze blew through the forest, ruffling his long fur in the process.

"Yeah. That would probably be the best course of action."

She had only wanted to satisfy her curiousity. However, it got her caught. "Now that I know it's you, well I guess mystery solved..." She grinned and chuckled uneasily feeling just as embarassed as he did and awkward with the situation. "I didn't mean to wake you up. I apologize." She looked at her paws avoiding his eyes. Looking up for a second, then looking around them. "Well, uhmm.. I guess I'll let you go back to sleeping?" She said questioningly, really unsure of what to do with herself at that point.
”Oh no, it’s alright. I think I’d prefer the company - after all, it takes me a few minutes to get back to sleep, and it’d be a waste of time.” With a charming smile, the dark tom moved over a little, inviting Pondpaw to come and sit with him. Shadepaw was always on the lookout to make allies… he didn’t think of companions as friends, but rather allies willing to do what he asked them to. Of course there were times when he would meet a cat he liked more than the others, and times when he would meet a cat smarter than the others, but as far as they went, they were so rare they might as well have been nonexistent. A small smile spread over his maw as he glanced at Pondpaw in a friendly manner. ”How’s your day been? Fairly easy, I trust?” There was no way for him to know for sure, but that would’ve been his guess. She was a sweet young thing… cats like that normally had pretty easy lives. Shadepaw? Shadepaw had seen some stuff in his life that he would rather forget, and things that he would live over again if he had the chance. The joy of battle was one of those things he’d live over. It was generally not, not for most cats anyways, but Shadepaw was different. He didn’t mind the violence or killing. He didn’t mind the suffering to come out of it. As a matter of fact, he really didn’t mind very much at all. But weakness? Weakness was one of those intolerable things that Shadepaw wished could be snuffed out altogether. Perhaps there was a way… though it was way too daring, too much.
