Finchwhisker hadn’t remembered anything about sending Adderfang on a patrol with all these apprentices. That is, until he remembered she was in charge of the border training. Listening to the warrior’s explanation, he understood. Ah, so a little mock report to simulate the real thing. Clever.
As Shrewpaw and Marigoldpaw each gave their reports, he judged the reports in comparison to the actual ones he’d recieved from warriors. He caught into the fact that Shrewpaw seemed a bit nervous at first. But that was of little concern. It was rather sad that, in all honesty, these two were giving better reports than he often got from the incompetent warriors of this clan. One other thing in particular did catch his attention. Shrewdork-paw? Interesting. Marigoldpaw had quite a feisty attitude. In terms of personality, she’d make a great ShadowClan warrior someday.
“Thank you, you two. Keep up the good work. I expect just as much of you when you become warriors and lead your own patrols some day. Now, you may be dismissed if you wish.”
Waiting for a while, the deputy didn’t hear a peep from that last apprentice’s mouth. He glanced briefly at Adderfang, and then back to the third apprentice. Gah, they’d better not turn out to be one of those warriors who did the patrols but failed to report. Those types weren’t quite incompetent, though they made things far more complicated than necessary.
“Moonpaw? Your report?”
