"Yeah, there might be big snakes around here. Like in that bush I stumbled into." Joe glanced around hurriedly, as if a snake was about to pop up right beside him. "For all we know, they could be watching us right now, waiting for us to be alone."

"Well, someone's paranoid," Galahad sniffed, shaking his head. "I doubt our housefolk would let us roam around if they knew that."

"You bet I'm paranoid," Joe muttered, still keeping one eye on his surroundings. "It never hurts to keep an eye out for things. And maybe our housefolk don't know everything," he continued. "I always have to yowl before they feed me."

"My belly always feels like it's turned inside out when they get around to it," Joe complained. "And the food isn't even all that good. It's so stale." He made a face at the tasteless food.

"Well, it's either that, the garbage the people throw out, or catching live prey," Galahad offered, not sounding helpful at all. "You don't really have many choices."

"Scraps are actually pretty good," Joe admitted. Especially the little bits of meat he sometimes got. Those were the best. "Unless it's green." He shook his head. "I've learned that green stuff is never good."
