Needle's throat clamped up and he felt like he couldn't breathe, panic was creeping its way back up his spine, but he forced it back down with a shudder. Taking a deep breath he rose to his paws and nuzzled his mate gently. "Ye.. yeah. Let us go collect the kit." He padded back towards the mewling kit; if you looked close enough you could see his foggy form shuddering with trepidation.

Flamescar looked away quickly, not wanting to see the expression on her face. The tears had stopped, but his throat was burning, his eyes yearning to spill more tears.

Clawing the ground, Shadow ran over. "You evil cat! You betrayed us! What anout Pastelle, What about me?!" Tears ran from her eyes. "I hate you! I hope you never come back! Stay with those mouse brained idiots!" She clawed hiss muzzle, hissing.

Flamescar jerked back, shocked. He didn't even feel the pain in his muzzle. The tom felt frozen. "Shadow, I-I'm sorry, I really am," he rasped. "But-" He cut himself off before he made the situation any worse than it already was.

Tears started falling again. He had had no idea that it would have turned out this way. He thought he would have told her, and she would have accepted it, and she would have gone to tell Pastelle that he wasn't dead, and he would have gone home without the slightest bit of guilt.

But this... this was the complete opposite. Guilt weighed him down, pressing on his shoulders and making his back ache. Flamescar collapsed, tears falling silently as he choked back sobs.

The healer stared down, her body feeling like it was crushed. A soft breeze danced through the small clearing, mixing up the herbs she collected and blew rhem to her paws. Flamescar's muzzle was bleeding, and without thought, she pressed cobwebs and herbs to the wound. Shadow's stare was blank, and she moved her paws carefully around the wound. She swept her tail under Flamescar's tears. Her feather like fur brushing his face. Her icey blue eyes stopped watering, and she moved next to Flamescar. She pulled a pile of small seeds in front of her. "These are poppies, I used them to help you sleep many times. Too many to count, they also do something else." She calmly pulled a poppy flower that she liked to put around her den, to lighten the mood. The scarlet flower looked like blood on the green grass. "They make amazing Flowers, don't you think?"

For a split second, Flamescar felt a spark of realization. Shadow loved him. And perhaps he loved her back. But he couldn't tell. Then he paused. Had she just said what he thought she said? "...if it's with me or another she-cat."

Yes, he had heard what he thought he heard. The ginger tabby glanced at her with his one good eye. "Alright," he said. "I promise." He gave her ear a swift lick and then glanced quickly away.
