Briarpaw and Lunarpaw are two friends - well, sort of. It's a back and forth on Lunarpaw's part, between whether he likes her or doesn't - and as for Briarpaw? She seems to like him well enough. Now, one morning they get together for a training session - and {mentor 1} and Briarpaw's mentor have Lunarpaw and Briarpaw work on their sparring together. Before now, the tom wasn't completely aware of her vision problems and so thinks that she's just being clumsy. Time passes, and the two do a couple more training sessions together. At one of these sessions, {bully 1} shows up with {mentor 2}. They start teasing Briarpaw, making fun of her and talking to her like it's impossible for her to do anything right. This upsets Lunarpaw - having been bullied himself before - and he lashes out at {bully 1}, who naturally, fights back. {Mentor 1} and {mentor 2} seperate them, and both of their warrior ceremonies are postponed. Lunarpaw stalks off, and Briarpaw follows... wondering why, this time, he would have stuck up for her. When she gets there, she starts asking questions. But instead of answering, Lunarpaw asks a question of his own.

"Why were they making fun of you?"

"Sometimes... sometimes cats can be cruel. I don't know why."

"Not without reason. There's always a reason."

So Briarpaw finally explains to him about her sight - albeit reluctantly. And Lunarpaw finally understands that he's not the only cat here with life problems, hers is just as serious. More serious, in fact. From that day on Lunarpaw is a good deal nicer to Briarpaw, helping her with her training and almost acting like a guardian. For the moment, the bullying begins to fade away... and everything starts getting better for both of them. Until, that is, one morning.


Now, {bully 1} isn't too happy with Lunarpaw or Briarpaw - and they're planning on getting some serious revenge. So they lure both of the cats out into the territory, pretending to be friendly until they push both of the cats into the water. Lunarpaw isn't a strong swimmer - at all - and goes under, while {bully 1} watches. Briarpaw is able to grab him and drag him towards the shore... where she doesn't say anything to the watching cat. {Bully 1}, not sorry at all, runs off - and leaves Briarpaw to try and help Lunarpaw. Both of them realize how close that was and stay in the territory for a little while... just talking. {Bully 2}, one of Lunarpaw's biggest enemies, finds them and starts talking the tom down. Lunarpaw is too tired to defend himself and just watches, angry - but not feeling much like a fight at the moment. {Bully 2} starts asking questions about Briarpaw, and Lunarpaw's parents, and teasing him in general. Finally, Briarpaw's had enough and simply walks away, leaving Lunarpaw to deal with the bully alone. Except, she's not going to get away from him... she's going to get help. Briarpaw finds {mentor 1} a little ways away in the territory, talking with {tom 1}. She tells them what's happening, and both head back to find Lunarpaw and {bully 2} fighting. Apparently Lunarpaw couldn't stand them any longer. {Mentor 1} pulls the two apart and begins talking with {bully 2}, while {tom 1} begins talking with Lunarpaw. Briarpaw is forgotten for a moment - until Lunarpaw recalls what just happened and thanks her for pulling him out of the water. After the other cats leave, Briarpaw begins asking more questions about his parents - they've had a conversation once before, but this time she seems determined to get more answers. So Lunarpaw tells her everything he remembers. Which isn't very much. And an idea is planted, an idea that grows into an action. What if... they were able to find their parents?


That idea grows for a while, and because Lunarpaw's warrior ceremony was postponed - more out of anger on {mentor 1's} part then anything else, he feels free to go. He has enough training. It's just a matter of waiting at this point. {Mentor 1} is doing less and less training sessions with him, while Briarpaw seems to be getting more. Mainly because she needs the experience. At that point, Lunarpaw starts spending more time with {tom 1}. He quickly is drawn to the other's personality, whether because it seems almost similar to his or not is unsure. This cat has recently had their warrior ceremony, and they aren't too much older then Lunarpaw himself. And so, a new friendship begins to blossom between the two - and quickly, they become best friends. Lunarpaw is quicker then usual to feel comfortable around this tom, and he talks about his past more readily. The other is not of a kittypet background - and for a while, he's less willing to spend time with Lunarpaw, as though uncomfortable with the idea of being around a cat from a background like Lunarpaw's own, but that soon passes.

Meanwhile, Briarpaw's been getting more experience, and the idea that was planted about a moon before is still in her head. What if they did go? What if they found their parents? Sure, Briarpaw's might not be of kittypet background, but they are out there somewhere. Her mentor has found another cat for her to do training sessions with - {tom 2}. And the two of them are getting along perfectly well... {tom 2} is friendly, quick to learn, and acts more like Briarpaw. He's the exact opposite of Lunarpaw, and he seems to know it, too. He likes to tease on that subject, but he never goes into actual bullying - he's too good for that. And slowly, {tom 2} is drawn towards Briarpaw and her sweet, cheerful personality and he begins to develop a crush on her. Briarpaw doesn't know of {tom 2's} feelings and goes on treating him as she always has, even though without her knowing it, he thinks they're getting closer and starts believing that she likes him back.


A couple of days later, Lunarpaw comes to Briarpaw and asks her if she remembers the idea that had been planted before. The craziest of crazy ideas.

"I know this is going to sound completely crazy, and totally out of character, but... Briarpaw, what if we did go find our parents?"

"Oh wow, you're serious? I mean, my training, and then there's..."

"Right. You don't have to come. It was just a thought."

But, Briarpaw eventually agrees, and the two of them prepare to set out. However, {tom 1} and {tom 2} both want to know where they're going and how come they aren't allowed to come. Lunarpaw finds some excuse to get away, and promptly, {bully 2} shows up and begins teasing him about having a "girlfriend." This, for some reason, bothers Lunarpaw more then it should have and he wants to attack - but is kept from it by Briarpaw, and the two of them get out of there. Leaving the Clan is harder then they could have imagined, and for the next few days, they spend as much time as possible with {tom 1} and {tom 2} and even the bullies' rude remarks have no effect on either one of them. It could be the last time they'll ever see anyone from RiverClan again.


Setting out, they head towards Twolegplace first - hoping to find Lunarpaw's parents. They stay in {she cat 1's} territory for a couple of nights - a friendly loner who offers to help them. She says she remembers hearing something about a family of kittypets who had stayed in her territory for a while, but a twoleg had found them and taken them back home. She offers to help them find the kittypets, but Lunarpaw says no. He doesn't trust the loner - unlike Briarpaw, who seems willing to trust her readily enough. She seems to want to stay longer. Now, Lunarpaw doesn't want to leave her behind, so they stay for another couple of nights. But eventually enough is enough, despite {she cat 1's} pleadings for them to stay. They move on. Twolegplace is further then Lunarpaw thought, and they end up in {tom 3's} territory. He's quite a bit younger, around the same age as Lunarpaw himself, and takes an instant liking to the two of them. He too, offers to accompany them - but Lunarpaw still doesn't trust him. This cat reminds him too much of {tom 2}, whom he really doesn't like at the moment. So he doesn't want to stay. Briarpaw, on the other hand, seems drawn to this cat because of this and wants to stay for a little while. So Lunarpaw agrees. They stay for about a week, and even Lunarpaw has to admit that this cat doesn't seem to have bad intentions. He has to be fascinated by the way that {tom 3} treats everybody who passes by. Another couple of loners, {loner 1} and {loner 2}, come through. They're former kittypets and they have also heard of the kittypet family who was taken by the twolegs. This time, Briarpaw urges Lunarpaw to let them help. So finally, the untrusting tom grudgingly agrees to allow them to help. The two cats point them towards Twolegplace and leave them at a twoleg's nest that doesn't look very... comfortable. Lunarpaw wonders if his family is really in there. A twoleg comes out and sees the two of them sitting, and tries to grab Briarpaw. The twoleg doesn't seem at all interested in Lunarpaw, which doesn't surprise him - with a face like his? He looks as though he were cursed. Briarpaw darts away, but Lunarpaw doesn't feel the need to. So he stays still. The twoleg, thinking he must be a former kittypet, tries to grab him next. And that's when Lunarpaw finally snaps. He claws and bites at the twoleg, causing it to be angry and it flings him across the yard. When Briarpaw comes running towards the twoleg to defend her friend, they kick her as well. Both cats are hurt - and only partly concious. So when someone comes and puts them in a steel trap-like thing, neither one protests. And for a moment, Lunarpaw thinks he sees a cat that looks like him winding itself around the twoleg's legs. Eventually, they both fall asleep.


When Briarpaw comes to, she's in a trap with something around her middle. And Lunarpaw? He's nowhere to be found. There's another cat in the cage, {she cat 2}. Briarpaw asks her where she is, and {she cat 2} answers that she's at the vet.

"The vet? What's a vet?"

"A biped who makes you well again."

"So it's a medicine cat?"

"Whatever you want to tell yourself, kid."

Briarpaw's "friend", as she soon comes to think of her, explains that she was in a car crash. Briarpaw doesn't understand what a "car" is, but she assumes it's bad. {She cat 2} doesn't look like the other cats she's seen so far. She has burns, and scars, and... something that looks like her face has been mauled. Badly. Briarpaw tells her own story, and {she cat 2} seems curious. She asks about Clan life, and Lunarpaw, and {tom 2}. And the bullies. Briarpaw doesn't mention anything about her eyesight, instead talking about Lunarpaw. {She cat 2} asks where he is, and that's when it really hits the she cat... she doesn't know.

Lunarpaw finds himself in a trap as well, but he's with a cat who looks like him - {sibling 1}. The cat from his dream! Or... was that reality? He has something on his leg, and around his neck. It's like having a mane, except it's uglier. The cat who looks like him is wearing one as well. He asks where he is, and they have a similar conversation to Briarpaw and {she cat 2's}. Again, {sibling 1} is curious. Where did he come from? What's he doing here? Where's Briarpaw? Lunarpaw doesn't know where she is. And, he hopes she's okay. Lunarpaw asks about {sibling 1's} family and learns that once, they had a brother... a brother that was gone... and it's too much of a coincidence for him to turn away. He asks what this brother's name was.

"His name was Solar..."

Solar. Lunarpaw's old name. Why did he change it? Maybe he didn't want a part of his past, but he remembered changing it for a specific reason. Something in his past had made him despise the name Solar. He's found his sibling, and he's pleased about it. He can't wait to tell Briarpaw... except she's not there. And he doesn't know where she is. Asking for {sibling 1's} help, they end up able to get out of the place - and without that horrible thing around his neck. And to look for Briarpaw. He finds her trapped in another trap, with {she cat 2}. And he gets them out as well, wondering why they don't have things around their necks. Maybe Briarpaw didn't need one. He wants the thing off of his leg, and wants to take off the thing around Briarpaw's middle, but neither is possible. {Sibling 1} offers to take the three of them to Lunarpaw's family, and he's quick to agree - after all, this is family. Family can be trusted. That's what he thinks, anyways. So they all head back to the twoleg nest where Lunarpaw and Briarpaw were injured. It wasn't a dream! There really was a cat that looked like him.


When they get to the nest, three other cats crowd around. {Mother}, {sibling 2}, and {sibling 3}. They all seem to recognize Lunarpaw - although he's not sure if they're getting him mixed up with {sibling 1}. But no, they call him by his own name - Solar. {Sibling 1} corrects them, and they learn his new name. Lunarpaw. Except, he should have been a warrior by now... but he wouldn't have traded this moment for anything in the world. But that's when his world and dreams came crashing down. When {father} arrived. {Father} looked nothing like him, and neither did his other two siblings or Mother - though they were all mixes of golden and black, or one or the other, which would explain his and {sibling 1's} coloring. {Father} instantly bears down on him, calling him worthless and lazy and weak and chases him off - leaving a stunned Briarpaw behind. She confronts {father}, only to be laughed at and he attempts to chase her off as well. Whatever's happening with {father,} Briarpaw doesn't like it. She doesn't like it at all. When she finds Lunarpaw, he tells her everything. Everything he can remember about his {father} and {mother}, and why he had gone in the first place. Or, rather, been given away and then left. And it's not a happy story. It's not a happy story at all. Briarpaw's surprised to hear what happened, and for the first time in a while... they share a moment all to themselves. And it surprises Lunarpaw how much he likes it. So, he watches her go back to the twoleg nest to get {she cat 2}. When they come back, {sibling 1} is with them and {mother,} spouting apologies and looking very upset at what just happened. {Mother} glances at Briarpaw and an expression of surprise crosses her features.

"Oh, is this your girlfriend? Or your mate?"

"Wh - what? No, it's not... not like that."

"Of course not! We're just friends!"

"My mistake, dear. I just assumed since you had come all this way with her, you must think something more of her."

Those words hurt Lunarpaw, but he refuses to let it bother him much longer. And maybe, just maybe, {mother} is right after all. They stay with his family for a couple more days, and he invites them all to come back to the Clan - but only {sibling 1} agrees. They seem to be the most interested in Clan life, despite the fact that {father} is terrorizing the rest of his family and they could get away from him if they were to come. So, they head back - and {she cat 2} comes with them as well. Unknown to Lunarpaw, she's developing attraction towards him - and starts flirting with him, which only seems to make the tom more wary of her. He, in turn, is spending as much time as possible with Briarpaw and acting much differently towards her then before - which is confusing her. {Sibling 1} notices all of this, but stays out of it until Briarpaw comes to them late one night.

"What's going on with Lunarpaw?"

"Oh, so you did notice!"

"He's acting weird."

"Bri, cats act weird when they're in love."

"In LOVE?? But, but I..."

"I see the two of you when you're together, Briarpaw. Everything's going to work out for the best, you'll see."


Now, they spend a few nights in various loner's territories. When they're getting closer to RiverClan, something that's completely unforgettable happens. {She cat 2} is getting more and more jealous of the bond that Lunarpaw and Briarpaw obviously share, and she decides to do something about it. Without Briarpaw, there can't be any more jealousy... right? It'll just be her and Lunarpaw. Forever. Knowing that Briarpaw is a RiverClan cat, she is aware that she can swim... but in fast moving water? Probably not so well. So, when they reach a piece of land that has a fast moving river on it, she shoves Briarpaw in and pushes her under. {She cat 2} is a strong swimmer, and she knows that she'll be able to get out. So she holds Briarpaw under. Lunarpaw is oblivious to what's going on, until {sibling 1's} expression suddenly changes and they darts towards the river. They jump in, pushing {she cat 2} off of Briarpaw and pulling her up. Briarpaw is half-drowned, but thankfully {sibling 1} pulled her up in time. But there's no sign of {sibling 1}. They're gone... disappeared under the water. Lunarpaw is devastated by this loss, but he's very thankful that he still has Briarpaw. And from that moment on, {she cat 2} is no longer a part of their "group." It's just him and her again, heading back home.

"Are you going to be okay?"

"Yep. Are you?"

"I think so."

"I can't believe she did that. I thought you were going to die. I don't know what I would have done if you did."

"Really?? I didn't know you cared so much!"

"You didn't know I CARED that much?? Bri, I couldn't care more about you!"


When they do get back to RiverClan, {tom 1} and {tom 2} are waiting to greet them. {Tom 2} instantly runs over to Briarpaw, greeting her with enthusiasm and treating her like a princess - while {tom 1} approaches Lunarpaw, acting the same as always. {Tom 2} asks Briarpaw to go hunting, and she instantly glances towards Lunarpaw. He nods, as though telling her to head away. He ends up having a long talk with { tom 1}, who seems almost jealous of Lunarpaw's interest towards Briarpaw. Except he doesn't show it, instead staying back. Some time passes, and Lunarpaw finally has his warrior ceremony - becoming Lunarsight. But whenever he thinks of {sibling 1}, he becomes sad and worried. What if they could have saved him? Why, oh why didn't Lunarpaw see this coming before? The nightmares start, but Lunarpaw ignores them every time. When Briarpaw has her warrior ceremony, the next day Lunarpaw approaches her. She's been going hunting with {tom 2} for a while now, and seeing him more and more... and he supposes that she's going out again. It's time for him to do something about this, and see if she might actually like him.

"Hey, Bri."

"Hey."

"Going hunting with him again, I see."

"Yeah, he's really nice! We've been spending lots of time toget-"

"Thing is, I was kind of hoping you would come with me."

"What?"

"You heard me. Are you going to come?"

"I... guess so."


After some time passes, Lunarsight and Briarnose start spending more time together and slowly less with {tom 1} and {tom 2}. The two, seeing this, decide to make their moves as well. And so again, the two are ripped apart. But Lunarsight isn't giving up without a fight. So, he begins to plan his move... before Briarnose starts falling for {tom 2} instead of him. Or is it already too late? She's been acting funny around him. And Lunarsight guesses that it might already be too late, but he'll never know if he doesn't try. And if it fails? Well... {tom 1} is always there. Maybe - just maybe - there's a chance he can make this work. So he asks Briarnose to come with him one night to the edge of the territory. And there... there is the spot when he finally confesses his feelings. In turn? She confesses that she's loved him as well, and from then on? Their happily ever after is basically written out.

She cat 2: More fiery and introverted, but friendly once you get to know her - later becomes more selfish and hateful, will develop a grudge against Briarpaw and fall in love with Lunarpaw, but the feelings will not be returned
