(Gonna skip you Heartstruck just so I can get this patrol out of the clearing!)

With the patrol in tow, Sunblaze trekked along a beaten path that he knew lead to the border, occasionally glancing over his shoulder to make sure nobody, particularly the apprentices, hadn’t strayed or gotten snatched up by a bird. He picked up his pace as the landscape gradually morphed around them and they drew nearer to Thunderclan territory. When the scent of rival cats was almost overwhelming, the ginger warrior halted the patrol and turned around to face them. “Glad to see no one’s paws froze off on the way here.” An amused purr rolled in his throat. “Let's split up and get to work then, shall we? Ashfrost, go take Petuniapaw and mark anything that seems markable that direction. Eveningpaw, we’ll do the same over here.” Sunblaze motioned his young apprentice to follow as he padded alongside the borders edge. “This is your first patrol, am I right? I remember my first patrol.. I admit, I was a bit more.. uh.. enthusiastic than you.” He gracelessly tried striking up conversation.

Petuniapaw skipped behind Ashfrost and Sunblaze. She was really excited. She flashed a smile to Eveningpaw hoping the older molly would have fun too. With the ginger toms instructions Petuniapaw looked up at her mentor. "Lets go! You can show me how marking borders work." The little molly meowed her amber eyes bright.

Dirtfur was excited for this adventure; digging dirt, making tunnels, helping your clan as well. The border is now two tail-lengths away. As he stopped in front of the border, he scented for any danger. ThunderClan cats still on their side, good.
"Listen up, search a Willow tree and their roots," the tabby warrior ordered his patrol. "If there is an opening, come tell me, got it?" Without hearing their agreement, he went to the left side in search for a tunnel.

wormpaw raise his head in the air, sniffing. his nose scrunched up at the scent, sticking his tongue out in disgust. "do you think they use their scent to repel other clan cats?" he ponder, that really was the only reason he could think of on why they smelled so.. blah. he's been wanting to see thunderclan territory because well, birds. he really wanted to see a bird that wasn't dead. nor ugly. wormpaw nodded, deciding to take the right side to search. he prod around a tree's roots. he let out a huff, raking his claws on the tree's bark after it proved to not be an opening.

Catching the apprentices question, the molly shrugged "perhaps ...But at least they don't smell like a skunk now right? I mean...that next to a dead creatures smell? Those are the worst ." she meowed with a small chuckle . Going her own way the brown tabby began to wonder, why do this near the middle of leafbare?? It's freezing ! Even her paw pads were starting to go numb. Then again it being freezing means not many were brave enough to even step paw out of their dens....so not many were there to pester them with questions . Sighing BrambleBlaze bit her tongue, only to spot what she thought she saw was a willow tree. But it was kinda hard to tell since it was covered in snow ... "hey dirtfur! Is this one?....I can't tell..." not to mention I never really seen a willow tree...But it's branches look pretty low so...

Though his paws is numb from leafbare's snow and cold, but that won't stop his search for a willow tree-- he'd seen willow trees on border patrols before: curtains of leafs and branches hanging downward.
A call from Brambleblaze beckons him over to the spot where he started the search. He stood before a tall tree with branches so low like Spider from the last meeting, and snow on the branches and on the leaves.
"Maybe, check the roots." He ordered to the she-cat warrior.

Nodding at the order, the warrior sniffed and felt around for the roots . digging up a few piles of snow near the base, she blew the last bits of remaining snow off . They were a mid grey tone and were wild! Long too, she shoved more out of the way next to the small batch and saw even more spread about . Tilting her head she gazed up at the patrol leader "do these meet the requirements ? To be honest they look like any other trees roots to me...." mumbling the second half. Shaking herself off she hopped out and took a seat as she waited.

wormpaw pause, lifting his head to listen to the murmuring from his clanmates. actually, speaking of that-- the apprentice didn't know what a willow tree was either. weren't all trees the same..? he glanced up at the tree he was checking, raising a brow. looked pretty much like every other tree. "what is special about a willow tree?" wormpaw questioned, voicing his thoughts. "do they have a different smell..?" he mumbled, sniffing the tree he was at. he tried to forcefully pry an opening, grunting.

He watched as Brambleblaze checked each roots. It seems she searched every nook and cranny. He thought back to what Lionstar had told the patrol leader. "Um... Our leader said to find an opening betwee-" he was interrupted by his apprentice's question. He hissed whilst Wormpaw sniffed the tree, maybe Dirtfur will teach him some manners whenever two cats are talking.
"Stop sniffing, and get over here," he snapped at the lanky tom. "Now this willow tree have low branches and long leafs that hang downward. The roots, well, are long as well." Dirtfur explained, hoping his patrol now understands. "Now what we're looking for is a willow tree with an opening between some roots. Now time is wasting so get on!" He snarled at Brambleblaze and Wormpaw. "And Wormpaw, please know when a conversation had ended when I am needed, got it?"

wormpaw quickly bounded over, he was just.. examining the tree. (a very cool tree in his opinion) he gaze at tree brambleblaze was looking at, tilting his head to look up at the leaves. as cautiously as ever, wormpaw lean over and sniff the bark. smelled very much like a tree. he huff, turning his gaze back to his mentor. he listen intently to the description, repeating the words softly under his breath. "yessire, " wormpaw nodded and turn away to go back to searching. by the time dirtfur had ended his last statement, the apprentice was eagerly searching for the tunnels and wasn't listening anymore.
