Rosepaw quietly grimaced as he saw Daisyshade appear to be somewhat uncomfortable. Was that his fault? He hadn’t meant to hurt her feelings in any way, it just felt weird to have to do such big things on his first official mentoring session. However, he was relieved to not see any real disappointment on Daisy’s face. Sure, it ached that he had failed such a simple assignment, but he supposed things happened sometimes. As she continued to speak, Rose perked up a bit. Phloxpaw hadn’t been trained in hunting? That was a surprise to him. He hadn’t exactly met her yet, but still. It boosted the appretince’s mood a bit, making him slightly more excited. As Daisy began to walk again, Rose grimaced about the fact that he had to walk through mud again, pushing his way through it to stand next to Daisy. He barely came up to the deputy’s shoulder, something he was used to, but still stung either way. He wanted to be tall! He wanted to see things from a higher angle! But that couldn’t happen, he was most likely stuck the way he was. Looking in the water, he saw the rippled reflection of himself staring back at him. Now he just quietly nodded, waiting for Daisyshade to show him what to do.

Just thinking about steps to hunting made her a little confused and tongue tied, she just hunted regularly and it seemed impossible to break it down to a science since she had never had to explain how hunting worked. For a moment she sat there with her tail flicking nervously until she glanced back over her shoulder “ha, well, crouch like this make sure you keep your shadow off the river, and tread lightly because they will feel the vibrations of you coming. Never underestimate being sensed” she began making sure she exaggerated each movement. Her hind legs where crouched and her center of gravity was placed on her hind legs. Her forearms propped her up but also held her body at just the right height to avoid her shadow crawling over the water. From there she let her tail wave behind her for a moment. “From here you extend your claws from the one paw, on the arm you’ll use to strike, right? Keep it poised and slightly elevated off the ground” she said nodding her head as she lifted her one paw just right off the ground keeping it there before looking back over to see he was following. She released herself from crouching feeling her thighs feeling the constant crouch and having to stand up. “Show me, make sure your tail doesn’t hit the ground, even if it’s too faint for vibrations you must make sure that it won’t distract you. It’s a good habit” she said with a gentle nod. She turned back and sat down to examine him carefully.

(( this is going to be short, i’m probably going to pass out any minute ))

Rosepaw watched Daisyshade, nodding, though questions were building in his mind. How could fish sense vibrations? What about tree and bush shadows? He kept his mouth shut, not wanting to be a nuisance. Focusing on the way Daisyshade looked, he narrowed his eyes before finally understanding a bit more then he had. Before he was finished really registering everything, Daisy was already asking him to try to stand the way she was. Rose awkwardly tried to shift his weight, shaking a bit. How did they do this? Rose felt as though he was going to fall, not noticing he was shifting his weight to his side, which wasn’t that useful. Trying to use his tail to steady himself, he was a flailing mess for maybe 10 seconds, before finally falling over, his pelt rushing with heat as he struggled to look away from his paws. Pushing himself upright again, he once again tried it, now embarrassed enough so that he couldn’t meet eye contact with Daisy.

Daisyshade flinched seeing how distorted his movement was, the way he awkwardly leaned to far to the left. Though he kept trying to straighten himself she found it hard to focus on not criticize him too quick, she knew rosepaw was trying to correct themselves knowing what they were doing wrong. Still it was hard not to comment because it had been worked so easily into her system it was automatic every time she approached the river. Though as she was caught in her thoughts the small tom tumbled to the side succumbing to his heavy lean. She stood up her ears perked suddenly standing up quickly to catch him, seeing he was ok the she cats whiskers twitched in amusement and she sat back again in relief. She allowed him to straighten out without criticing him or speaking, than she stood and moved around his rear end. Thinking back to her apprenticeship and know how tough mastering anything was she let out a deep purr of amusement. She used her tail to stagger his hind legs the one put farther back behind the other, so he looked like he was in half walking motion. She stepped back and watched the way his body was now fully staggered. Other than balence his from was perfect. She had never seen such an arrow dynamic hunting crouch and a smile spread across her maw “Rosepaw” she said looking at him with a pride within her eyes. She was slightly unnerved by his silence but it would take time to work up the courage to get comfortable. Your deputy after all. her ears pinned at the thought your just like anybody else mousebrain. Just like any old warrior. she straightened up “that’s perfect rosepaw, better than mine” she commented her smile spreading. Perhaps showing off her apprentices one day would be her third greatest joy, after the kits and firstly tumblestep. Of course. “always remember to stagger your hind legs for extra balence, some of the greatest hunters use their tails and hind legs to their advantage. With practice you seem like you’d make a great hunter” she mused.

Rosepaw had seen Daisy flinch, and that was something that brought him down a little more. Flash forward to when he was attempting it for the second time, and he felt a little better about himself. He tried to ignore his embarrassment from falling over however, that hurt. Collapsing onto a pool of stones would hurt after all. As Daisy said his name, he froze, unsure of what he had done, trying to crane his neck so he could see his entire body, though he only really got as far as looking at his front paws before Daisy once again spoke. Had he really done it? His eyes lit up, trying to make a mental note of the pose, as weird as it felt. He knew it would be useful, now adjusting himself so he was standing normally once again. He could do that now, right? He didn’t know, but he assumed he was good. Looking back at Daisyshade, he tried to dull down his smile, asking “What are we doing next?” in a very excited tone of voice.

The tabby beamed with pride her smile spreading across her whole maw. She curled her tail gently over her creamy white paws, “well, now that we’ve got the crouch we are going to learn how to actually swipe and catch the fish” she said with a nod. She stood back up creeping towards the river and fluently dropping into her crouch gracefully. She hadn’t ever needed to stagger her hind legs but for teaching and learning purposes it simply made sense. She dug her farthest leg that dug into the mud and pebble mix disturbing the earth as her claws slid out and pricked the earth. For a moment the idea of somebody watching faded from her mind and he eyes combed the bank searching for the flicker of dull silver or sparkling grey or brown. Than rosepaws shadows shifted into her view and she recoiled. Just wait! she looked over her shoulder at him with a smile. “Right, so it’s a long fluent swipe. You flex your claws and try to spread your pads to make your paw a little wider-“ she paused waving her tail for him to fall in next to her and copy the movements. She waited for a moment before continuing on with the lesson “so when your going on the swipe you don’t wanna go directly down on it, since water distorts our images your going to wanna strike where the fish is going to be, not where it is” she said with a nod raising her one paw off the ground. Than with a simple movement her arm cut through the air, her paw slicing into the water and sending a spray across to her left that splattered onto the shore. She sat back up her tail waving Contently. She gave her soaked paw a few licks and than glanced over at him. “Your going to wanna scoop to the side not go down onto it, always keep your weight on your hind legs and use your shoulders to gain momentum and scoop it up hooking your claws” she instructed

Rosekit nodded, he had been expecting that. That was something that he needed to learn, right? He believed it was, that would be how he helped the clan. Watching Daisy, he couldn’t help but daze out as he watched the water. What if he fell in and drowned? He didn’t know how to swim, so that would probably be his end. Would Daisy try to save him? His mind told him yes, but the rest of him said no. Trying to mimic the motion, the rest of his body was still, afraid of moving too fast. He tried it on the snow, facing away from the stream. Snow eventually became water, right? It was good practice. His paw stung from the cold, but the rest of his body did as well, so it wasn't much of a difference. Glancing back at Daisy, he panicked ever so slightly. Well, that was an understatement, he was terrified that he had done the wrong thing. Now he was waiting to be scolded for turning to snow instead of water, almost staring at Daisy.

If anything daisy was confused by the turning around, though no comment came, that would be for later. So focused on the way he scooped at the Snow sending a few chunks flying through the air and expanding as they hit the ground just to the side. Though she admired the way he tried to accomplish the movement the way his paw staggered while hitting the harder surface threatened how well he would understand the content of the lesson. She frowned, there was no time for baby steps at this point. She stepped forward a soft smile making its way to cover the frown “why don’t we try the water? I know it looks scary but, I’ll catch you, I really will, I mean that is if you fall in” that wasn’t comforting you mousebrain! she scolded herself before her trail briefly flicked. The she cat turned and padded toward the clear stream dipping a toe in and wading out into it after biting her tongue to Jeep from gasping at the cold. The lower part of her legs where full submerged and she could feel the force tugging at her legs wanting to take her along the rivers path, to trap her beneath the ice and let her drift. She shivered. “You did everything right but maybe you should try a target?” the she cats tail was submerged beneath the water looking much small now that it’s fur was running off with the frigid water. She moved it in the way allowing it to come close to the shore. “Go ahead and try to hit it, or just touch it at the least” she said encouragingly

(( i really don’t feel motivated, so this’ll probably be short, sorry ))

A frown. The smallest movement slashed through Rosepaw’s chest. Of course, he was supposed to aim for the water. They were Riverclan, not snowclan! Nothing came out of the ground when there was snow on it anyways. As Daisy suggested the water, he forced himself to keep a straight face, and nodded, all while insults were clawing at his brain. Staring at the rippling surface, he saw his reflection, shaking as thoughts of drowning filled his mind. No part of his entire mind seemed happy, telling him to continue on, but he kept his body moving. The apprentince lashed out at the water, however, he had just slapped the water, no certain position, and you could see the top of his head in the water. Realizing his mistake, Rose frantically tried to do the right movement, paws frantically slapping the water.

(Moving here since they are know by the river. @Gabriel The Archange )

Anglewing sat beside Mintwhisper though she wasn't close enough to brush fur. It felt weird for her, fascial contact such as a nuzzle or someone pressing against her she couldn't handle it. It seamed to display to much affection. Silently she sat looking at the beautiful frozen river. It was so peaceful no criticizing stares or whispers behind her back. Just her and Mintwhisper. The tom wasn't like most he surprisingly wanted to be with her, he wanted to go hunting with her. But why? That didn't make since to her. But right know she didn't think of that she just wanted to enjoy the scenery around her and the silence. She let out a slight sigh not because she was sad but content. Lowering her head she watched the ripples move around the ice Mintwhisper had broken. It was interesting to watch, the cold water moved lazily in between the ice crakes. The site reminded her of life. It's hard to get though the ice just like life but you push on anyway like the water even if you get trapped you'll get out, somehow.

"But first, there's something I need to tell you. I'm...expecting kits," she muttered, staring blankly down at her paws. The words felt thick and wrong in her mouth like a gob of tree sap clinging to every wall and inch of tongue, choking her. "It's possible someone else will have to finish your training since I'm not going to be able to attend to my normal warrior duties as the time gets closer, let alone train with you." Rainpelt rattled off this news mechanically. There was no excitement, no joy, just a cold description of things to come.

(sorry for the wait, finals )
"Ah, yeah!" They laughed quietly at themself, watching and waiting for the other to eat. They thought it was strange seeing her wrinkle her nose but just thought she maybe just wasn't that hungry so they lowered down to start eating first. They took a bite, enjoying the taste of fresh prey on their tongue. The next words from their mentor made them almost leap up onto their paws, a new, wide smile forming on their face. "What? That's great!" They spoke with food in their mouth, their words slightly mumbled. They swallowed, finally noticing Rainpelt's expression not being as excited as their own, they did find it quite strange.
"Is that why you're not excited? because you won't be able to do your warrior duties?" They questioned, giving a goofy smile. "It'll only be for some moons, you'll be raising a new warrior for the clan, doesn't that sound great?" They couldn't think of any other reason why Rainpelt wouldn't be happy that she was having kits, kits were great to them.
