Sounds of crashing of water on rocks grew louder as the cats padded up to a large and strong river, twisting and turning into the forests beyond. Fish could occasionally be seen hopping out of the water, their shiny scales shimmering in the light as they dived back in. The River was always beautiful during the day with the yellow glimmer of the sun shining on the rocks and river.

"This, here, is the River. This is what Riverclan is named after. This is where I'll be teaching you how to fish, but I'll be teaching you how to swim in the Cattail Pond, as it's calmer and a better starting place for new apprentices like you. If you have trouble here, though, I might take you to the Cattail pond to learn fishing instead."

The tom meowed, padding up to the river and climbing on one of the rocks at the bank which was glistening with water on the tip where he wasn't standing for the moment. This would be assential to teach his apprentice, as it was a safety hazard to be so high over the river on slippery stones.

"Alright, before you get close like me, I need you to make sure you know where you are going. If you are high up from a lake on a slippery surface, it's more likely even a experienced Swimmer wouldn't get back to normal if they land in the water, second thing is that you could also fall onto something like rocks below and other things. A way to check to see if a rock is slippery, is that it will have this clean look. Wet rocks should also be glistening and if there is a lot of water, it should be dripping off the rock. If you are going to step on a wet rock, make sure you are on flat ground were it won't be deadly to slip and fall. it's unavoidable on the banks, though, so you are going to have to be really careful once you get to the far edge of the water.

The male meowed, climbing around the wet spot on the rock where he was, heading over towards the river bank.

Snakekit nodded and followed her mother through the territory. The little kit was well aware it was dangerous and so stuck close to her moms side so they wouldn't be in danger. Maybe a bit too close. Snakekit couldnt help occasionally rubbing against Foxblazes leg and as the walk progressed started becoming a tripping hazard, weaving in and out of her moms legs purring all the while.

"Sit down by the water." Thistlestep took a seat along the bank, his paws less than an inch from the edge. "Make sure your shadow isn't over it. And then you wait."

After a few moments, a fish flickered in front of him and he swiped his paw into the water, aiming just above where it was headed. He hooked it with his claws and swatted it out, sending it to the shore where he pinned and killed it.

"When you plunge your paw into the water, make sure you aim above where the fish is going, and a little above the silhouette of it. Water dilutes the image of the fish.. and you have to adjust your strikes because of it. Your claws should be out to grab the fish, and then you can pull it out and kill it. You try."

Blizzardpaw wanted to whine that sitting watching fish was boring, but he was smart enough not to complain because fair chances Thistlestep would beat his ass and leave him for the crows.So he flopped down into a seated position giving a thud with his loud sitting actions, which if he was sitting on a couch he woulda broke the springs. He gave a loud sigh before scooching until his shadow was off the water. Ugh. This is stupid. Even a dumb-dumb baby could figure this out, why did Thistlebaby insist on waiting til I was better trained to beat fishies” he thought angrily slamming his paw down on the water thinking it would kill the fish,” oh. Not like killing crab...” he meowed deciding maybe it was worth a shot trying Thistlebutt’s way of hunting fish instead of his idea. It took a few minutes for fish to return after he loudly slapped the water in attempt to bop the fish on the head, so he shot his paw in missing the fish, but he tried again on a leaf which he did catch,” Whatever.“ he muttered

Hazelpaw had busied herself with scuffing up mulch and leaves to dig up a hole to bury her mole when Whitepaw spoke up, her voice a high-pitched squeak. Whiskers quivering, Hazelpaw hurriedly stuffed down her remaining bit of anxiety and turned once she had finished entombing her prey, brows arching in a forced smile. "Yeah, uh, they kinda are, I suppose," she laughed, although her words emitted themselves out a bit awkwardly. "So uh, anyway...." Hesitantly, after a few excruciatingly long moments, Hazelpaw took a step toward her friend, ear flicking as she glanced nervously to the side. "Uhm, Whitepaw, this is probably gonna sound a bit weird, but uhhh... I-I'm still afraid that we'll go back to that stinky old forest place."

Blizzardpaw flicked his tail,” I figured slapping would be easier and work better. Besides I don’t believe you are the best at fishing in the clan. You probably could improve at fishing so I thought I’d invent a new way of hunting fish, but you’re method probably will work I guess.“ he replied,” But I did catch a leaf.” he meowed

"A leaf won't feed the Clan!" Thistlestep hissed, swiping his paw at Blizzardpaw's head. "If you want to be dumber than a pile of fish guts, slap away. You're not going to catch anything because you'll just scare the fish away."

He was beginning to wish he had drown Blizzardpaw. Would've saved himself a headache.

Blizzardpaw barely even blinked at the smack on the head then he shrugged,” I guess I can try again...though only if you are willing to let me try again.” he meowed hinting that he was ready to try again and hopefully actually catch a fish.

Of course she was still scared Whitepaw had tried to forget she almost had she couldn't blame Hazelpaw at all to, she had looked as if she... Had died.. Like died! And Whitepaw did nothing to save her. Shame stabbed her, could she have stopped this from happening? She looked at Hazelpaw for a few heartbeats before she spoke. Me two... If we go back then what if we hide? Then we'll probably be fine.. She mewed, she hoped she be there for her friend the next time she fell asleep, but what if she didn't?
