Preface/World

ACTIVITY SWEEPS EVERY SUNDAY, as this is when the cycle ends and the deadly rain comes!

In the beginning, the rain didn’t seem to let up, and even when the sun shone through the clouds, heavy droplets tore the dirt asunder until only mud and pavement remained. Streams of thick, rolling liquid dirt cascaded down the hills and uprooted the grass and plants that were loose from the barrage of rain. Beetles that once scuttled along the leaf litter now got swept up in the torrent of heavy rushing water, no shelter from the infernal storm that berated the land in its wrath.

That was the beginning. Countless years had passed in which the moon had rounded the lands, marking the passing of months. That too turned into years of eternal, undying rain. Even after the Ancients that created almost all of the fauna ceased to be, life went on.

From the rubble, cinder blocks and metal support poles that stuck from the ground from long destroyed civilisations, and abandoned concrete towers that decayed and collapsed, polluting the beautiful skyline, came new life. Unlike anything this continent had seen prior to the Ascension, descended from organisms coded in their genome to serve a purpose when ancients rose towers and cities, long having forgotten their purpose. Slimy creatures moved about between rough concrete blocks and jagged metal supports, leaping across large gaps to avoid the heavy lizards below.

This particular group of slugcats make home in the massive labyrinth of circuitry and biological components that make up the Iterator, Gilded Decay. It is a massive structure, large enough to house its own ecosystem of lizards, slugcats, scavengers and other various flora. However, GildedClan only lays claim to the rooms of the structure closest to the gardens as delving too deep into the machine has lead to much death.

”If you leave a stone on the ground, and come back some time later, it's covered in dust. This happens everywhere, and over several lifetimes of creatures such as you, the ground slowly builds upwards.

So why doesn't the ground collide with the sky? Because far down, under the very very old layers of the earth, the rock is being dissolved or removed. The entity which does this is known as the Void Sea.

If you drill far enough into the earth you begin encountering a substance called Void Fluid. The deeper you go, the less rock and more Void Fluid. It's believed that there is a point where the rock completely gives way - below that would be the Void Sea.

When that stone you placed on the ground has finally done its time in the sediments, it meets the Void Fluid and is dissolved, leaving the physical world.”

the world of rain world is a dying one. the dominant species, the ancients (who were not unlike humans) had all long since ascended and left their massive buildings and technology to decay. supermassive buildings that are purposed organisms, made of both biological and technical components, called iterators dot the landscape. their massive water intake pumps tons of steam into the sky, causing intense and lethal rainstorms. survival is difficult, between hungry predators desperate to survive and storms strong enough to flatten any creature caught in it. it is a deadly world out there, and life is hard.


WHAT IS A SLUGCAT?

They are small creatures that can come in various colors, and with large, beady eyes, thin arms, broad legs with small feet, broad-ended ears, and a thick tail that tapers at its end. In summary, they have a very feline appearance but are shaped closely to a slug with limbs. They have short, smooth fur.

SUBSPECIES

common - jack of all trades, a regular slug-like cat that can wield up to 2 spears at once. (starts with 1 t1 skill upon creation)

combustive - Combustive slugcats have a compound in their saliva that is highly combustible. This substance can coat spears to create dangerous weapons that explode when thrown. They can also perform up to 3 jumps using biological explosions to propel them. This comes at a steep price, however, and Combustive slugcats can only swim for very brief periods of time before drowning. (do not start with skills.)

aquatic - Aquatic slugcats are incredibly agile on both land and water, and make for expert scouts. Their lightness allows them to jump slightly higher than average. Their biggest advantage is being able to weave around predators and past pole plants with ease. (does not start with skills.)

SKILLS

every 15 posts in roleplay, you earn one(1) skill point which can be used to buy skills! You may have any number of skills per character.
the number in parentheses is the cost of the skill! you can salvage one(1) point per skill/tier, regardless of skill cost, from a dead character. Additionally, skills that are knowledge/skill based can be taught to other characters free of charge!

(1)Thick Fur - your slugcat has evolved thick, warm fur and is no longer bothered by cold areas like Above the Clouds, The Beneath and more!

(1) Spear Hoarder - your slugcat can carry one additional spear on their back.
