Basically, he thinks that Thornscratch has a great deal more of life to experience. He wants her to seize every opportunity she can before it's too late.
And, hey, the Dark Forest is always open for new souls of the condemned. He wouldn't mind having her around, mostly just to fish with or talk to.

He's indifferent to the lives of most cats, but he doesn't understand why she wants to throw her life away when she has so much left she can do.

Well, as of right now, I don't actively roleplay very many cats in the official Warriors RP except Ashpaw (who's going to become Ashthorn soon) and Curseface (basically a cat version of Gollum from LOTR. He lives in the Dark Forest).
The others I had were Silversky, Darkfire, Wolftail, and Spiralheart, and Lostpaw and Floodpaw,
These are all missing. Lostpaw and Floodpaw were given to other users.
