"Alive," the molly echoed duly, mind drawing on images of her past mate. She thought of claws and fangs, of brown and white, of twisted love and absolute loathing, and of foxes. Had she mentioned that she despised foxes? Foxes and foxhearts, and she most definitely claimed the title of the latter. Not that anyone knew. Frankly, Honeypool enjoyed their ignorance. Just like her mate…

She didn't kill him. She tried to save him. Only, foxes… they were much stronger than anycat on that patrol could've prepared for. Regardless, her mate remained dead, and she remained broken. Would be broken until either she died or he came back to life. One was more probable than the other.

"Better a living, breathing companion than a dead one to haunt your dreams," Honeypool remarked. "Mine is—" she paused as Cedarleaf looked away, patiently (seething on the inside, yet outwardly serene) waiting for the molly to pay attention again. "My mate is dead," the warrior shared eventually, "–so I recommend spending all the time you have with your lover, whoever that might be. Just admit that you like him and get over with it. For one who cannot hear, your eyes display your emotions quite clearly."

Cedarleaf did think it was a bit strange how Honeypool repeated what she said, but she was sure that Honeypool thought her strange with the way she kept zoning out, thinking about Sunripple. And the strange feeling came back instantly, along with a little flutter in her heart. But the flutter turned to a flip as she heard what Honeypool said.

"I'm- I'm so sorry," the molly said, watching the other cat speak. That was awful. Her mate was dead? She kind of wondered how it happened, but she didn't want to make Honeypool upset. But her wonder turned to embarrassment- and fast, too. She was glad for the black fur covering her cheeks, because otherwise, the red hotness spreading over her face would be horribly visible. "N-no, I- didn't mean it. Like that," she mewed, flustered and hoping her voice didn't portray it as much as she thought it was. "We're just friends!" @bmkmb

Away from the Clan meeting, Hareflood hadn't even noticed he'd made it to the Weeping Tree until he was just below the trunk.

In front of the scratch marks on the base. The memorial, as the Clan called it, but Hareflood thought it was a load of dung. Who cared about the nameless faces who died because they were too stupid to get out of the fire?

Why should THEY be remembered when cats like Hareflood wouldn't be? The background cats that were spat on, mocked, discarded to the side like they were nothing. And they did more than these charred corpses ever did.

Eveningmist.. her face drifted in his mind and he hissed. Why did she have to become deputy? Why did the world hate him so much, it'd take away the only good thing? He had no chance with a leader figure, he hardly had one to begin with!

In his anger, he had slashed out at the marks on the tree. Again, and again. Each slash a little harder and angrier than before, until his paws were sore and a little bloodied.

When he was done, the marks on the tree were gone - replaced by missing chunks of bark. Memorial tree his ass! Everyone could see the suckers who died as they were - meaningless.

Huffing, Hareflood briefly licked his sore paws to alleviate some of the pain and remove some blood before he headed deeper into the forest. He should probably hunt and bring something back to camp before his absence was questioned.. though with the meeting on going, he couldn't imagine anyone noticing soon.

Silverclaw smiled as the Wheeping Tree came into sight. She was showing Fizzlepaw the territory and this was the best way to start. Bright sunshine and close to camp.

The pale ginger apprentice followed right behind the warrior. He walked almost in a bounce. He was happy. It was his first time out of camp and he was excited. Fizzlepaw looked around. "Place what?", he asked. In other words he was asking where they were at. He was just a curious little thing.

Silverclaw looked at Fizzlepaw. “This place is called the Weeping Tree. There is a lot of sunshine and prey here. Cats come here to relax and warm themselves up.” Silverclaw meowed. “The tree has marks on it, signifying the cats that went to a different place during the fire.” She didn’t know if Fizzlepaw knew about Starclan or what happened when you died so she mentioned it in a way that probably wouldn’t scare him.

Fizzlepaw knew about Starclan he just didn't know what happened when you die. he was there when that warrior was dead. Buckstar brought him into camp. "Starclan they go?", he asked. The apprentice wished no one went to Starclan. he wished they lived forever. Wouldn't they miss their loved ones?

Silverclaw nodded. “Yes, they went to Starclan.” Silverclaw meowed. She knew about the Dark Forest but she hated talking or thinking about it so for her, the Dark Forest didn’t exist. “Do you want to stay here for a bit or do you want to go somewhere else?” She meowed after a moment.

Fizzlepaw looked around a bit before looking back at the warrior. Once he was ready to make his decision he opened his mouth. "Different place.", he meowed. The young tom wanted to see every place that was safe to go to.

Silverclaw turned away from the Weeping Tree. “Are you going to be able to keep up with all the walking we’re going to do?” Silverclaw meowed to Fizzlepaw.
