Haven't you ever felt like the warrior code is restricting our potential?" He let his words hang in the air, watching her expression as his speech sank in.

Icestorm pulled her lips back, showing long, sharp teeth. The fur along her back began to rise slightly. "Don't yell at me because you ended up here and made the decision to be trained here," she growled. She studied the tom for a moment, sizing him up, the way he moved, the way he acts.

Flicking her tail, she said "Attack me. I want to see what moves you know and what you don't."

Ignoring the scents of other cats, Lightpaw took in Scorndusk's words. She had never felt betrayed by her Clan, they all treated her like family! She had a best friend who was like a sister to her! "My Clan treats me like family!" Lightpaw hissed. "I have a wonderful mentor who treats me like his own daughter, and I have a best friend who's like a sister to me! Why should I feel betrayed?" Lightpaw glared up at the tom, her fur bristling.

Brokencreek's ears flattened nervously. Is this a trap? But the look in her eyes dismissed his questions. "Fine," he hissed. His kinked tail lashed, disturbing the mist that had settled on the ground. "Okay," he muttered to himself. "Okay."

His back muscles tensed for half a second before he jumped at Icestorm, his claws extended. His lips pulled back in a snarl, his fur bristled, he made a terrifying image before he crashed to the ground and slid behind her, ready to attack. Brokencreek jumped to his back paws, his claws flashing as he swiped at the soft skin of her belly.

Scorndusk flicked his tail impatiently. Strong-willed, he thought with disgust. This might take a while. "Maybe your precious 'Clan' treats you well," he admitted. "But tell me--wouldn't it be better if we had no Clans at all? If the forest was occupied by one large group instead of five warring nations?" As he spoke, he leaned closer to her, never once breaking her stare. "Imagine it. No more boundaries, no more fighting, no more rules." Scorndusk rose to his paws and circled the young apprentice as the mist swirled around his fur. "Just imagine...."

Lightpaw took in the tom's words, afraid. "Imagine." She told herself quietly. What if there wasn't any Clans, and only one group around? Lightpaw thought that it was just fine that there were enough Clans. "Maybe ThunderClan can go, but only the good cats stay. I want one particular cat by my side." Lightpaw meowed. "Other than that, I think the way how we have Clans is just fine!"

Great Silverpelt, she's stubborn. "For now," he hissed. "It works--for now. With the countless battles and the tensions between the Clans, it won't be long until this entire thing collapses. And for what?" he snarled, standing before her, his fur bristled. "For your precious code? What are old rules worth when lives are at stake?" His red undercoat blazed a fiery orange in the white-gray mist, and his eyes shone viciously.

"StarClan?" Scorndusk growled. "StarClan? How can you let a group of dead cats control your life?" His voice rose in fury as he talked. "Tradition can only carry us so far!" he yowled, stepping closer. By now, he was towering over her. "The code is useless! It is time that we take this forest back for ourselves!"

Lightpaw let out a hiss. "The code is not useless, and we don't need evil cats taking over the forest!" She growled. "StarClan does more things than you realize. They're not just dead cats, they're spirits!" Lightpaw flicked her tail. "I don't need to be here. I don't want to be here, I just need my Clan and my friends, and that's all that matters!" She hissed, before dashing off, disappearing into the shadows.
