Northernpaw was still confused, but he didn't really want to ask, just in case he said something hurtful, as the tall lanky apprentice had a habit of saying things that could be rather hurtful, even if he didn't mean them, he just said them for unknown reasons. Northern bounced up, his green eyes shining playfully as he looked down at the smaller white apprentice, a soft purr resonating from deep in his chest and throat. “She will, I'm sure. But I doubt I'd be any good. I'm better at spotting things,” he puffed out his chest proudly, his tail curling up with excitement. Northernpaw was impressed, and he came up, towering over the smaller apprentice, jaw parted and eyes narrowed, then he sat down as if in defeat. “And I'm bested again by the almighty Whitestar!” the Oriental muttered good-naturedly, gently pushing into the odd-eyed apprentice. “But wow, that's impressive,” the older tomcat said, almost in awe. He doubted that he would ever be able to do anything like that. He couldn't even tell one thing from another if he had his eyes closed.

Lynxkit's senses came back to her as she awoke. Because she was a newborn, she couldn't hear or see what in the world was going on. Suddenly, terror filled her mind as she was engulfed in cold, wet water. She flailed around, trying to scream, but only bubbles came out of her mouth. She took a huge breath in to scream again, but water rather than air filled her lungs. Her throat and lungs began to burn furiously, and Lynxkit flailed in pain and panic, having no idea what the heck was going on.

A ragdoll tom burst into the Nursery, his eyes filled with panic and determination. The kits! I can't let the kits die! He dove into the water, paddling with strong kicks, and grabbed the nearest kit, whom was Honeykit. He surfaced and flung her on his back. "Hold on as tightly as you can to my scruff!" He screeched, before diving again and grabbing Lynxkit by the scruff. Surfacing again, he tried to move, but with both kits dragging him down, he could only stay afloat. He closed his eyes in despair as he let the current take him, wherever it would go. As long as these tiny newborn kits stay alive...

Honeykit was calm before cold water flooded over her tiny body. Her lungs burned as she breathed in water in attempts to mewl out for help. Her head slightly bobbed above the cold water as she managed to let out a shrill mewl. Honeykit flailed her tiny legs, unable to know if she was swimming correctly. She dipped back below the water, again inhaling water as she tried to mewl. She didn't give up, still flailing her limbs.

Honeykit mewled, doing as she was told as her tiny claws sunk in, clinging for life to the tom. She let out tiny mewls, occasionally coughing. She couldn't see, since she was less than a five sunrises old, she wailed as loud as she could with the water in her lungs, the comforting warmth of her sister and the air that filled her nose comforting her slightly.

He mimicked her movements, something that got on her nerves but this time might save his tail. "You got to teach me how to swim!" he huffed, and then gagged as water filled his mouth, Rule one: don't talk when you swim! a voice that sounded a lot like hers screamed in his head.

Nightkit saw the tom and the opening as she began to swim to him. Lucky she was getting better at swimming but it matter about getting out. She kicked her legs as she headed to the tom.

A small smile appeared on her face. "As much as your jokes stink, I don't want my best friend to drown" she mewed, giving a nod. Usually, him mimicking her movements would make her huff and do something stupid to make him copy, but now she didn't mind. It'd save his life, possibly. "I will!" She chimed. Vixenpaw wasn't scared of water, it was dying she was afraid of. She wanted to live as long as possible, and she couldn't die like this! "Rule One: Don't talk when you swim!" She copied what she knew he was thinking of. That's how well they knew each other. She'd be distraught forever if he died.
