sunday nights [p]

Sleepy cats, sleepy dreams. Alderstep tucked in comfortably for what he hoped was a good rest for the night, fully aware he'd only wake up the next morning tired. It was all just a cycle of sleepiness, so it seemed.

Anyways, time to fall asleep.

That he did. Until he found himself dreaming, which still counted as sleeping, only that it was less dark and more 'whoa what is this place, this is cool.' Alderstep followed his usual lucid dream routine, and began nosing around the misty environment with interest.

Birdsong had decided to visit Alderstep's dream because after almost 2 moons in StarClan he was beginning to get bored. The small former Windclanner meowed hello Alderstep. The young tom, who had been 22 moons at death was ready to answer any questions Alderstep might have. @navarra

Listen, it's been a long day, and apparently frayed nerves could transfer into the land of nod. Alderstep full-on shrieked, puffing up into a ball of russet fur as he whipped around, almost spitting in hostility until he saw that it had just been a young cat. In his dream. "You heard nothing," Alderstep griped, desperately trying to smooth out his fur. "Stars, warn a guy," he muttered under his breath as he did so, mildly annoyed that he'd somehow gotten scared by one of his own dreams. Or maybe this was a weird nightmare, and the scariest thing was social interaction? Alderstep narrowed his eyes at the dream cat.

Birdsong meowed I'm sorry. I didn't mean to surprise you, Alderstep. He then realized he had forgotten to introduce himself. As soon as he realized that fact the young tom meowed my name is Birdsong. @navarra

Alderstep paused in his fur-grooming, shooting the dream-cat a glare. "Whatever," he grumbled, continuing with his task until his pelt was back in perfect order (or about as good as it normally was.) The russet tabby stretched out, yawning to his surprise, and then turned more fully to whoever this cat was. "Birdsong?" Never heard that name before. This must be a cat his subconscious made up. "Okay, weird. What d'you want, huh?" Alderstep asked sharply, still bitter that his dream had made him shriek in surprise. Hopefully, he hadn't yowled in his sleep or something and waken up the whole den.

Birdsong meowed I was starting to get bored in StarClan and decided to visit a living cat in a dream and ended up chosing you. He wasn't really surprised Alderstep didn't know him. After all they had been in different clans while Birdsong was alive. @navarra

Alderstep scrunched his face up in confusion. "What? C'mon, why do I keep dreaming of these random cats and their made-up stories," he complained, sitting back on his haunches. "Fine, whatever. Since you're so intent on lying I'm not gonna ask for the truth. Why me, though?" As much as this wasn't real, he would like to still hear what reasoning this 'Birdsong' had. What's a little more confusion to add to this dream?

Besides, maybe if he obliged this dream cat, he'd stop having weird dreams of dead cats and their make-believe StarClan. Wishful thinking, yes, but what other choice did he have? Alderstep just wanted his mouse-chasing dreams back.

Birdsong hated being accused of lying. It didn't help that he wasn't even lying. The young tom didn't say anything about being accused of lying, thought the former WindClan tom didn't look happy at the accusation and being called made-up. Birdsong meowed because I thought it might be fun to chat with ThunderClan's deputy @navarra
