Looks: Shale is a dark, storm cloud gray cat with a lighter gray on his stomach, chest, and the underside of his tail. He has a white muzzle, and four white paws, one of which has black toes, and a white tail tip. He has one green eye, and one blue eye. He has a long scar on his side, one small one on his shoulder, and three claw marks on his cheek

Crush/Mate: None, he gave up on love a long time ago... after.... Fleck

Backstory: Shale was a loner when the forest fire started, and since then, he's been watching the groups, wondering if he should offer assistance. He started life as a kittypet, with Fleck as his best friend. Fleck, being a boy, was unaware that Shale, then known as Ben, ever even had a crush on him. One day the two were let out of their house to play, and Fleck's toy went out into the road, he went out to go get it... the monster didn't see him. Shale blamed himself, because he was the one who accidentally threw Fleck's toy into the road, and ran away from his home as soon as the Twolegs went out into the road to get Fleck. He gave himself the name 'Shale' because he never wanted to be reminded of Fleck.

Lightning took a few steps backward, still smiling, then charged forward as if he were about to crash into Silent. He broke his path at the last minute, swerved behind the other Tom, and batted Silent's tail.

I can tag Iris or whoever you want along?`` He asked as her felt his stomach grumble with hunger, ``Besides, we might travel tomorrow but I need to make a announcement to the whole group first.`` He said, half to himself, half to Dawn.

Dawn let out a stifled sigh but followed him. “Of corse Sparrow.” She smiled.

Silent had two things in his mind that had been eating away at him not long after him and Lightning became..mates. He wanted to ask him one of the two. But was too afraid to ask the other. “Lightning. We can’t play forever..we have to think about real world now. I’m sorry to ruin the moment but..it isn’t always going to be like this. Your brother..he never liked me from the start and...” he sighed. “What if I break you two apart..” he rolled off of silent and plopped in his side next to him.

“You two have such a strong bond and..and I don’t want to shred that trust and love to pieces...” he let out a long sigh. “If you won’t be happy....then I would do anything to make you happy again.” He looked up at Lightning again. “I will give you up if that what makes you happy..so your brother will never disapprove..so I won’t tear your family apart..”

With a bit of a relieved sigh, followed by a quick snort of laughter to cover up the odd moment of feeling, she answered, "Good. Can't have my great savior die on me, not on my paws." She'd given the injured tom the nickname since he'd saved her life from Grim- who had yet to make a reappearance. Shockingly enough, he hadn't even come by; which, as known by many cats in their area, is an odd thing for the rogue.

Suddenly he sat up, his ears pricking. "Uh, yeah," he answered. "...you're welcome." With a silent growl he jumped to his paws. "Hey, do you mind if I go for a second? I'll be right back. Unless you wanna come with..."

Lightning blinked and sat up quickly.
"What?" He shook his head vigorously. "No. No, please don't do that! Thunder's feelings are complicated, that's all! He doesn't trust cats from the start, it takes a while, that's all. And if you leave... if you leave, then no matter where I am, I would never be happy. I couldn't be..." He looked at the ground and shifted his paws.
"But I can't keep you from doing what you want. And if that's what you want..." His voice trailed off in a hiccup, and he felt his eyes water and sting.

Jinx shrugged at her new friend's odd behavior, not taking it too seriously as she simply said, "Sure," and gestured for him to lead. Flicking her tail with contempt at the previous meal, and at the situation, she followed Thunder to whatever his destination was.
